LOL, I was using it as a figure of speech. I don't honestly believe californians are tree huggers :yelrotflmao: Just wanted to clear that up
-
Hick? Sure buddy :yelrotflmao: So because you live in Cali, I can assume you're a tree hugger? :shoothead: You should keep the stereotypical comments to yourself None taken!

Hey, I'm no old fart...I just got a bad back and knees  I've popped my knee out of place 2 out of the last 5 times I went riding on my 450. That shit sucks!!! I do agree with the whining/moaning/crying though....it's ridiculous. I'm out there to have fun, I could care less if I win. As long as I have a safe night and get to go home to my family, I'm ecstatic. I just didn't agree with the "less skill" part.
-
I can vouch for that as well. My buddy came out with me last week and couldn't turn a consistent time for shit. His times had a range from 7.53-7.90. He couldn't make two passes the same, or within a couple hundredths of a second. There's a lot more to it than just hopping on and letting it rip. Setup/rider/track conditions, etc. Just because the asphalt is flat and straight doesn't mean it doesn't change. Temperature of the track makes a big difference with traction. Some nights it'll hook well off the line and other nights it lights the tires up through second gear. Then we have the tree. It's damn near impossible to get a perfect light every time....and in bracket racing, every hundredth of a second makes a big difference. It's a hell of a lot easier to race someone at the dunes when you have no finish line and a guy/girl throwing their arm down to get the race started. Try racing the clock and you'll change your mind, guaranteed. You'll realize how much "skill" comes to play in this part of the sport.

I think you're looking at it the wrong way man...I don't think you have any idea about hom much work is involved in setting up the chassis as well as tuning the engine. Sure, racing in a straight line isn't difficult, rider does make a huge difference though...but it's not just about that. It's about extracting the absolute most you can out of the machine and being consistent with it. Making the slightest adjustments can shave multiple tenths of a second off your times. I've been running the exact same setup this year and have managed to drop my 1/8 mile times by almost 2 seconds just by making minor adjustments...and I still have room for improvement. There's a lot more to it than you think... Not to mention, when you start suffering from back/knee injuries like I have been, you can't just hop on a quad and run laps around a track. Drag racing is something I'm getting into because I don't want to give up my banshee, and I physically can't ride like I used to. You should really take shit like that into consideration before you start bashing something I and others have grown to love. And for the record, my friend and I do all the work on my banshee. I don't pay some engine builder to do it and ship me the "finished product". I'm out there every week wrenching on my shit to get the most out of it How is sand or dirt any different than alsphalt? I don't understand how the terrain justifies a difference in the amount of "skill" it takes to drag race
-
No doubt! I saw that shit on TV the other day and it got my blood boiling. I'm with you on that one, if I see some idiot burning an American flag he's gonna get the beating of a life time. Me too!

no plane into the pentagon on 9/11
bigboybanshee replied to helldriver's topic in General Banshee Discussion
You can do what you want, you always have....I was just telling him that I was gonna try and help him understand, rather than tell him how stupid he is for thinking what he does. He's a teenager...did you understand everything you do now at age 15? I'm not trying to piss you off Brooke, I just think its better to try and educate someone than jump down their throat and talk about how ignorant or stupid they are...I know that what happened to the twin towers isn't rocket science, but you have to take into consideration the crowd you're talking to....not everyone has the same level of education or is tune to the world as much as yourself and a few others  -

bigboybanshee replied to helldriver's topic in General Banshee Discussion
It's not like the planes hit them and they instantly dropped to the ground. They smoldered in flames for a while and then fell. Even though those building were designed to withstand a lot, no one can engineer a building to be able to take a 757 flying into the side of them with a full tank of fuel. Not trying to be a smartass, just being realistic  -

bigboybanshee replied to helldriver's topic in General Banshee Discussion
You are definitely entitled to your opinion, but you have to look a little bit beyond the "cover of the book" to really understand how this happened. When a plane smacks a building, it doesn't just sit there and burn in that one spot. It'll leak fuel all over everything, catch anything flammable on fire, and then you have more than just a plane stuck in the side of a building, you have a large fire. The plane started the fire, it began burning everything around and below it causing instability in the building's structure, then it gave way and collapsed. Rather than knock you, I'll try and help you understand  -

No offense, but have you ever heard the phrase..."don't lower yourself down to someone else's level by retaliating with the same level of stupidity" :thumb: Those pics are flat out stupid  -

They look like the small bore to me....they're identical to mine  -
I gotta ask...why the new rule?
-
Thanks! **edit** Only reason I asked is because there is a guy that runs a 350 4mil at my track but he turns 7.6/7.7's
-
What bore/stroke are those cylinders? Where in TN? I know it's irrelevant to the topic but I'm just curious

LOL, thanks chase! Shee's a money pit, that's for sure...I'm about to dump even more into it within the next few weeks Totally understand where you're coming from chugger...I'd love to be able to have my lady ride with me. $4,000 for that banshee is a good deal, I didn't know you were looking to pick it up for a second ride. I was thinking you were going to replace the one you had  -
You're gonna be out of gear at half track and it's gonna suck, LOL. 1/8th mile you might be alright like blueshee said, but you're gonna have to run something around an 18/38 gearing to make your passes worthwhile in the 1/4....and you'll be needing every one of those 6 gears  You could just let off after the 1/8 mile mark and see what you turn there....I really think you'd be wasting your time running the quarter with 16/41 gearing

It still has the stock crank in it? I know you said you're probably gonna go to a stroker crank but you'll definitely be replacing that stock one soon if he was running high compression and nitrous. Also, don't know if you knew this but you'll have to have the cylinders re-worked to accomodate the stroker crank. You can't just slap it in there and call it a day. You might be able to get a spacer plate or something but I didn't want you to think you could stroke it without altering the cylinders. I personally think you'd be better off just keeping your banshee and investing 4000 bucks into it. You could hook your current bike up really nice for that amount of money. You could buy some 4mil cubs/crank, etc. and still have plenty of money left for carbs/intakes or whatever else you need for the setup. That's what I would do if I were you.... -
I'm running a trinity pipe, cam mod, and K&N pro flow kit with an open airbox. I've been thinking of switching pipes to something a little better for trail riding...the trinity is not bad at all, I just think I can find something better for the type of riding I do...I really like the power I gained with the pipe and filter, it feels more torquey than anything. The cam mod did not add much power if anything at all, but what it did do was smooth out the powerband and took away the "peaky" feel the 450's have when stock. It seems like it starts easier too. Also, if I'm not mistaken, from the factory, the exhaust cam is advanced one tooth more than the YZ450 (dirtbike), and the cam mod on the YFZ450 is retarding that exhaust cam one tooth. There are detailed instructions on www.yfzcentral.com about how to do the mod. Oh yeah, and the bog off idle can be fixed by changing your leak jet from what I've read. It's a common problem and I still have it on mine....you can make it better by tweaking the pilot jet and fuel screw. I really don't even notice it much anymore  After you buy the bike, check yfzcentral for the "known" problems on the 06's. There are a few little things you'll want to pay attention to on those new 450's.

Making the Shee a better trail bike.
bigboybanshee replied to Wertzy's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I personally would pick a good mid range pipe like FMF fatties or Paul Turner mids, or maybe even some DMC's...get a NOSS head with some 21cc domes so you can still run pump gas and then would possibly change the gearing depending on what kind of trails you ride. A timing plate advanced 4 degrees would help add a little umph. You'd notice a huge improvement over stock
