I was gonna say the same thing. Great instructions and "how-to"

To make a long story short, a friend of my mother's is moving into town from California, and she doesn't think her car can make the drive...so she was asking if there were any ways to ship her car here, but I had no idea what to tell her. I was hoping to see if any of you have looked into this, or done it, and could let me know what you've run in to... If it were me, I'd just hook it up to the back of a uhaul and tow it here, but I don't think she was wanting to do that... Thanks!!

guess the jetting wasnt as "on" as i thought

Sorry to hear about this, I remember reading when you blew it up last time. How far into the engine have you looked to find the trouble? Does it run at all? -
Hey, I'm just going off of what the guy at the booth told me...I'm not swearing by anything. I was in bum fuck Mississippi so there's no telling

Awwww shit, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN!!!!!!!!
-
I couldn't agree with you more! John is truly a stand up guy, I'd give him the shirt off my back if he needed it. I wouldn't have been able to complete my project had it not been for his help

I'm pretty sure that pro wedge 2's only come in 22". When you're taking off, are you dumping it full throttle off the line? Last time I ran the 300' strip, I was running 15/38 gearing and crossed the line barely in third @ 79mph. You should definitely change your gearing up some, my setup is a plain ol stock stroke drag ported 350 and it had plenty of balls to pull tall gearing...that was with the same tires you're running now. 15/41 is not enough for the setup you got.

Lockup clutch cover is on! Foot peg problem?
bigboybanshee replied to RV00GT's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
That's nuts...mine went on fine with the stock pegs, no spacers, no grinding, no problems. I got about a quarter inch clearance between the peg and the cover. Weird I do need to adjust my brake lever though, it barely rubs the bottom of the cover -
Is the banshee really gone in Racing
bigboybanshee replied to Turbobanshee_kid's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Dude, you're missing the whole point. The reason you don't see banshees out there anymore is because they can't keep up with the newer design and technology that's being put into the 450r's and YFZ450's...Why race with a cadillac when you can run a ferrari? Yeah, you can buy the lonestar chassis and beef up the suspension on a banshee and make it better, but why spend all that money on it when you can buy a 450r or YFZ450 and already be competitive out of the box. If you actually raced in MX, you would understand If you think it's gay......DON'T WATCH IT!! I actually enjoy watching races where most of the bikes are the same...that way you know who the best rider is -
I like making a lot of noise!!!! Only thing holding me back right now is $$$$$$ Care to elaborate? You may get better bass out of a ported box, but you're gonna get more SPL and better quality out of a properly built sealed enclosure. I'm interested to hear how I'm "completely false".
-
I know what you mean, I'm thinking about building a wall of subs in my prelude...always wanted six or eight 12's
-
They're definitely not my first choice either, but when you have them running off the right head unit, and are being pushed with the right amp, they sound damn good I've always been a fan of MB Quart, I've got their competition series components in my car...running off an Alpine deck and Phoenix Gold amps. There are plenty of setups I'd "rather" run...but can't afford half of them We all don't have deep pockets like ol ellison445

She is a pansy now, thanks to my wife

That does suck!!! My friend had his truck stolen out of his driveway a few months ago...was sitting there watching tv and heard it fire up, by the time he got to the window it was going down the street. Cops found it a month later completely stripped except for the body and frame. Memphis is REAL bad about car theft Sorry to hear about your friend.
-
LOL, you and I must have been into hi-end audio about the same time. Mcintosh made some killer amps, I haven't seen them around in years. I remember when velodyne came out with that 13" inch sub, got to hear it at a local shop and the quality was absolutely amazing. They had it paired up with the inifinity kappa series components and I was blown away. I also was a fan of the image dynamics wave guide horns that you install under each side of the dash. Only saw one install with them but boy did it sound gooooood
-
It's all good my man, I totally understand where you're coming from...We just wanna make sure that whatever new setup you go with, you get the most out of it You using those 4 RF amps on this new setup?

I agree with you 200%

Ported boxes aren't "bad", don't get me wrong...I just believe that you'll get the best sound from a sealed enclosure. Bandpass boxes are designed to reduce distortion so it sounds like you're getting more, but in reality the subs can be distorting and you won't know it. I fried a pair of JL W5's experimenting One of the best sounding enclosures I had was a bandpass, but my subs didn't last as long as I had hoped they would....my voice coils were starting to crack and after time, the sound quality diminished and it started sounding like ass.... This is all just from my personal experience with subs/high end audio....I've been building boxes since I was 12. My brother got me hooked really young, I've been doing it ever since LOL, I'll probably catch shit for this but I was 13 years old with a par of 12's and one 15 hooked up to a car battery and head unit with a hifonics amp in my room....my parents hated it
-
That is your problem. When you redo it, have each sub in it's own separate enclosure...it can be one big box, but make sure each sub has its own airspace with dividers. Also, I'd recommend going .15 or .20 bigger than the "recommended" box size to give you better low frequency response. Who's building the box?
-
Ever thought about adding another .2 cubic feet to each enclosure? Are they all in separate enclosures now or in one big box? LOL, you have no idea how many boxes I've built in the past to change the way my subs sound
-
Ahhh, makes more sense now.... Are you looking for more boom or deeper bass?
-
Yes they do! RNBRAD is right on the money Jeff, where did you see the specs for a ported box? They must have changed the design from when I bought mine. The little pamphlet that came with the subs only recommended sealed enclosures. You will get better sound with sealed
-
LOL, I know that...I'm telling you guys they are not satanists. Do you all really believe everyone in the music industry actually does everything they sing/rap about? There's a reason they're called "entertainers"
-
Kickers aren't designed for ported inclosures....especially not the solobarics You'll get better sound and longer life out of a sealed box too
-
I just charge it now, worry about it later. Big Blue said that to me once at LS and it stuck and I've been doing it ever since, LOL! I got close to 8,000 in debt, which really isn't a whole lot; I've got friends in the 20 and 30,000 dollar debt range Just don't max any of your cards out...you'll have to pay at least double the minimum payment to make a dent in paying it off You'll be OK, Dallas. It'll be well worth it once you're finished....
