  1. Well, what kind of carrier do you have? Randy's got that +8, I talked to him about it and I'm sure he won't mind letting you use it for the trip. We all know how it is to be limited on cash!!
  2. I see you live in Michigan, have you thought about driving over to his shop and seeing what the deal is? I know sometimes talking face to face will help. Just a thought
  3. Randy (odell) has a +8 that he could probably let you borrow, or buy if you liked it. I don't want to speak for him but I'll be happy to ask him for you. It's a no link swingarm If I am getting my bike ready for this trip, you better make it too  I still haven't even got the engine in the frame yet!
  4. I'm sure I've got a few pounds on ya too, so you should definitely be alright  I heard something similar but I ran them anyways with the struts, and I figure if a rigid setup isn't going to snap them, I imagine a suspended setup isn't going to do any harm either. Not saying it "can't" happen, but in my experiences, I had no problems at all. I also run a stainless bolt on the rear strut too, it wore a little on the strut but the bolt is A-OK  Oh, and BTW, the only reason I need new bolts is because I snapped one trying to remove it, not because it snapped under load. The nut got stuck on the bolt, twisted the bolt and it snapped. Just an FYI
  5. I ran them last year w/ my fatass and solid struts...they held up good for me! Thanks Derek!
  6. HMMMM, that's a tough one....stock or stainless, stock or stainless...which would you want for your drag bike? I'm just messing w/ you Derek, I'd like the stainless if you don't mind
  7. Front shock bolts would be GREAT!!
  8. I definitely appreciate the bolts, I'll be needing a few for the drag bike...I had to use a few stock bolts for the time being, my main focus is getting it running and functioning now, I'll worry about the glamour stuff when I get back from LS. It's a shame you can't make the LS trip but I totally understand. I almost wish I planned this trip for a few weeks later so I and others wouldn't have to rush at the last minute...but oh well, it's all part of the game!!! We'll have another trip, by then you'll definitely have your bike running and maybe things will work out better for you making it down. I plan to do some travelling this year, so maybe I'll head up north and we can spend an afternoon at the track
  9. LOL, thanks but I meant it as ignite, as in starting it up. I plan to ignite the engine on Sunday! My cylinders will be home tomorrow, and I have everything else I need to build the engine. I'm going over to my friend's house who's gonna help me get it together. This is my first time building a cub and installing an override, so I felt much more comfortable having an "expert" that's done it several times before give me a hand. Should be built Saturday, put in the frame Sunday (unless I finish really early Saturday) and hopefully fire it up before the weekend is over I really appreciate the offer to help, you're a great friend to have
  10. It's been unbelieveably stressful, much more than the last build. I'll be so relieved once I'm able to fire it up and at least get it running!! If all goes well, I'll be doing the final stages of break in on the dunes that Thursday I'll have that shirt ready for ya!!
  11. ETA for ignition is Sunday  I'll get right on it. Do you want me to just bring it with me on the trip or mail it to you. Whatever you prefer is fine, no extra charge to ship it
  12. I think the drag strip is open the weekend before this trip, but if it IS open for our weekend, that's where I'll be!!!!
  13. The right color orange and it would look real good
  14. I decided to get some t-shirts made up, my boss just got a t-shirt press and I figured I would put him to work  They're nothing spectacular, but something to mark the ride and represent a sick banshee. The print is on a sturdy white shirt, they're not the real thin t-shirts (the lighting in the pics is kind of dim). I can get them made in pretty much any size, just let me know! Anyhow, they're 20 bucks if anyone's interested, I'll be sporting mine  I could also get it done in long sleeve too. Big thanks to Brad for letting me put his banshee on the shirt, your t-shirt is being made right now and it'll be in the mail soon. Thanks to Lee as well for letting me sport the HQ in style! The back: The front: Close up of front:
  15. Just curious, but have you got a quote from the chromer on how much it'll cost you? It was a big factor in why I didn't have it done, my pockets aren't that deep, lol Besides, if there is any imperfection in the frame, the chrome will magnify it...not trying to go against the grain, just giving you a few things to keep in mind. A chrome frame would be sick, just might be a small fortune to get it right Sandblasting is the best way to get powdercoat off
  16. I know where a nice orange frame with chrome subframe is for sale, already PC'd and ready to build
  17. I was spanking yfz450's left and right the weekend before last on my trail ported banshee w/ paul turner pipes, and I weigh 150 lbs more than the other riders....you should have handed his ass to him from third gear on....they didn't stand a chance in hell against my drag ported cylinders Definitely get some better tires, might want to check into the kenda gnarly and cut every other row like locogato does.
  18. That black chrome that kaotik1 did looked really good, and would mesh well with your existing colors
  19. SOS pads will not scratch your chrome, it's what I use on all my chrome stuff, pipes, a arm, swingarm, anything that's chrome that gets dirty. Scrub away, it won't hurt it at all.
  20. Will, do. I planned to tear into it this weekend. I might just go ahead and replace those parts anyhow just to be certain; can't hurt!
  21. I use klotz super techniplate in my trail bike, castor 927 in my drag bike...no reason for the difference, I started off w/ 927 and got a free bottle of klotz so I use both
  22. SOS pads will get rust off. Dip the SOS pad in some water and scrub away, you'll be surprised at how well they work
  23. Just for the sake of knowing, what's your compression?
  24. I've had some fitment issues w/ AC myself, but I really like my pro peg nerfs  Glad to hear the shop is willing to exchange that stuff for you, not a lot of places would do that
