  1. Damn, I thought I was weird. I guess I'm just normal. I count stuff all of the time. Usually street signs or lane stripes while driving. TV volume at 12. I cannot sit still. My wife gets so pissed at me when I shake my leg or hand in bed. Wallet, keys, change, hankerchief, and cellphone all must be in correct pocket. But my biggest issue is leaving the house. I have to check and make sure that everything is off and the doors are locked at least twice before I can leave. Oh, and I cannot stand it when my glasses or windshield are dirty.
  2. I found my red wire cut nearly in half, just last week. I didn't pay enough attention to the wire routing when I installed the adjustable timing plate. I'm glad to see that I am not the only one working on my Banshees while drinking a few beers.
  3. I'll be at the Badlands on Sunday the 18th. I'll be riding with a friend on his brand new KFX400. This is his first quad, so well probably be going slow. Besides, I'll probably be on my wife's Warrior since I am still waiting on parts to put my Banshee back together. So if you guys make it out, wave as you pass by us:) .
  4. Happy birthday, what did you get?
  5. What the hell Walter, I thought you said that you were friends with the owner? I didn't see a picture of your quad on the site. Just kidding, it looks like they are selling into a different market.
  6. I have been running it since my Banshee was new. I was advised to do so by a good friend that has been riding motorcyles for years. My top end lasted two years, which is about the same amount of time my friends who use Castor927 are getting on their top ends. I have never had a float in my carburetor stick, but it happens to my friends' all of the time. I don't know if it is bad luck for them, or if the 927 gums up their carbs.
  7. You can run FMF silencers (I can't remember which model) with the stock pipes. So shouldn't they work with the PT mids? I run Toomey silencers on mine, but I had to use a torch and welder to make them fit. I keep meaning to post pictures of how I did it, I just never seem to get around to it.
  8. Check that the little screw on tip is tight on your spark plug. These are rarely tight out of the box and must be tightened before installation or it can cause misfires. Did you leave a rag in the intake that could be blocking the left carb?
  9. Hit it harder. No wait, you said the threads are spinning, then the taper has let loose, why won't it come apart?
  10. Don't use mineral spirits. It will leave a slight oily film. I suggest using brake cleaner.
  11. Where do you want the power? Bottom end: Have your head milled Small gains across the whole RPM range: Advance your timing Moderate gains across whole RPM range: Reeds
  12. If cleaning your carbs doesn't help with the high idle, check your throttle cable. Sometimes that can get in a bind and cause the slides not to come back down.
  13. I have been using ScotchBright and mineral spirits in my parts washer, but it just isn't removing the dirt/grease stains as well as I would like. I tried brake cleaner, but I didn't think about using carb cleaner. I heard that truckers use a spray on their aluminum parts that works extremely well at cleaning the aluminum. The only downside is that it leaves that parts with a dull finish. I may head up the interstate to the truck stop and see what I can find.
  14. How do the plugs look? What is your gearing? Maybe it just doesn't have enough power to pull 6th.
  15. What works to clean cast Aluminum? I'm not looking for a polished finish. I just want something that will take the stains off of the transmission case, without too much work.
  16. My '02 had the silver cover. But the silver is just paint. If it gets scratched, the black plastic underneath the paint shows through. So I painted my black.
  17. I have my case split to replace my crank seals. I checked the crank dimensions given in the Clymer's manual and everything check out within spec. Is there anything else that I should check to make sure that my crank is OK before I put it back together?
  18. That guy didn't have a chance. He would have been wiped out by the SUV even if the PT cruiser didn't get involved!
  19. I'm interested. If I make it, I'll probably bring the same crew that came to Roostfest and maybe a few others.
  20. I don't know about Missouri, but you can ride on country roads in certain Indiana counties. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28023
  21. I think that last two posters are on to something. Try to find out where the air is coming from. It obviously isn't coming from the bottom of your fuel tank. It is full, right? . Can you see the bubble form? Does it form in the line, near a connection that may be leaking air in? Or does it come up from the carb, or down from the petcock?
  22. Yes, you can use a new carrier with an old swingarm, but you will need to get a couple of washers to use as spacers for the top bolt. If you look at a new swingarm it has washers spot welded on the inside of the top carrier mounting tabs. An old swingarm has the washers on the outside. You may be able to leave the outside washers on, but you will definately need to get a couple for the inside. They do not need to be welded on, loose is fine.
  23. If you set it up so that cancer research benefits from the ride, I'll send money, even if I can't make it for the ride.
  24. That little shinny ring is what the stock chain roller spins on. It is not supposed to be welded on. You will need to slide it back on when you are done shortening the swingarm, that is if you use the stock roller.
