  1. you have a pm
  2. I currently have one on my quad, but I am about to take it off. I don't plan on getting rid of it. I just want a change. They are very noisy and have been proven to cause a slight hp loss on the dyno. Eventhough I am about to take mine off, I can definately say that it works. It helps to provide traction, especially on uneven terrain. But since I am running a shortened swingarm, I hope to still have enough traction without the Amplink. I'll find out in a few weeks.
  3. The only good thing that I have heard about Gecko's is that they are cheap. So you should pass on those. For general sand riding, I suggest ITP Sand Stars. They hook up almost as good as a set of immitation haulers that I have, but they slide and turn more predictably.
  4. I wear AlphineStar Vectors and I had the same problems that you are describing. But eventually I got used to it and wouldn't consider riding hard w/out the boots. I figure, if the boots aren't somewhat stiff, then they won't provide much protection.
  5. April 4th is too far away for me to commit to right now. But I'll probably be out there this weekend. My friend just bought a new Suzuki four-stroke 250 that he is dying to try out. The recent rain/snow may scare him away, but I'll probably shame him into going.
  6. IMHO, the thing about Chevys is that if you treat them right, the major components will last a long time. (except for the 2.8 V6) But if they aren't maintained properly or if they are abused regularly...then...well...at least replacement parts are cheap and easy to come by. I just sold a '92 S-10 Blazer with the 4.3 V6, which is essentially the same as the 350, just missing a couple of cylinders. The Blazer had 180,000 + miles on it and was still going strong. I had to replace the valve step seals a few years back, but it was only using one quart of oil between oil changes. My friend had one for a while with over 270,000 miles on it. But just know that if you own an old Chevy that you will have to replace small stuff like starters, water pumps, idler arms and so forth. Should you buy it? It all depends on the price.
  7. Walt, A big thanks go out to you from Indiana. Without you setting up Roostfest, we may have never ridden the dunes out West. Now I can't stop trying to figure out how to get back out there. It was definately worth every hour in the truck and every cent spent on gasoline. I have always felt that money was better spent on riding trips than on performance parts. This trip truly proved that. I could have stayed at home and bought a full set of shocks for the money that I spent on the trip, but there is no way that I could have enjoyed the shocks as much as I enjoyed the trip. Thanks again.
  8. I've never done it, but I've seen people use an electric turkey carver to trip the foam down to the desired shape.
  9. Check the electrical connections under the rear plastic. If you get water in there it will act exactly like you are describing. Dry all of the connections and put di-electric grease in them as was suggested earlier. I suggest removing your stator cover after ever ride that it gets submerged. It is extremely hard to seal completely, so water will get in there. If you don't dry it out, your flywheel will rust and stator won't last long.

    T5 Silencers Only

PT mids. I'll take pictures and post what modifications are required when I am done. I am considering running the silencers inside the frame like Banshee370 did.
  11. I am looking for a pair of Toomey T5 silencers only. I do not want a complete pipe set since I will be adapting the silencers to a different brand of pipes.
  12. In case you haven't found it yet, here is the thread I wrote on shortening swingarms. http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18347 The pictures don't work anymore since I have them hosted on Imagestation. Here is the link directly to the pictures on Imagestation. http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4288460583 As far as dragging, the shortened swingarm is better for hard packed dirt and surfaces where traction is lacking. But a longer swingarm is better for dragging in sand with paddles and on asphault. I ride with a guy that is the same way. He runs stock tires and is usually 1-2 gears higher than I am when hill climbing. I prefer the traction myself, but to-each-his-own.
  13. Congrats on the trailer. If I leave right now, I can be there by Saturday night.
  14. Where did you get the 2 into 1 carb set-up? I'm sure that Trinity or Graydon would be happy to sell you a throttle cable to go with their kit. I have hear that a Blaster cable will work, but I don't know from personal experience.
  15. I can just see Blues' kid kicking 426 in the head while indubitably feeds him a cleveland steamer and Blue torches his bike. Sorry you couldn't make it Blue, at least we all got a laugh out of you anyway.
  16. What is a soupie?
  17. I thought that you were only selling swingarms. If you are selling all of the aluminum parts that are on your banshee, then you should have people lined up, because your bike looked awesome.
  18. This is the type of options that I want to explore before next year. Let me know if you find his business card.
  19. I am currently running an Amp-Link and I am tired of the noise and power loss that it creates. I figure that I will still have good traction with my shortened swingarm, so I am going to take it off for a while. What do you guys recommend? Should I put a stock roller on the swingarm pivot tube, or should I install one of the 'sliders' that are available? I ride mostly trails with plenty of abrasive mud, sand, and water.
  20. Everybody just send your shees to me EXACTLY !!!! have your banshees shipped out here. i have access to about 5 trailers. wallrat can make a airport run and pick everyone up and we roll up from here, about a 2 1/2 hour drive. space and arrangements are not a problem we have to do this again so keep it in mind. later How about next weekend?
  21. I agree that Banshee's look better with the front fenders cut off, but I won't cut mine because I ride in way too much mud and water. Before you start cutting, just take your front fenders off and go for a ride. Then you'll know how dirty you are going to get and if you can live with it.
  22. I usually avoid the flaming threads on this site, but I just can't stay away from this one. Why did you wait until now to say this? Why didn't you ride your "bad ass 4 stroke" over to the group and say this to someones face instead of hiding behind a screen name?
  23. Nope, I think that you are all alone with this opinion.
  24. I had the same trouble getting pilot jets. My local dealership couldn't even get the correct ones with the part number. I had to bring in one of my old pilot jets so that they could see it. Once they knew what to look for, they found what I needed in their drawer.
  25. Are you saying that it only 'pop or crackle out of one cylinder' when it is idling, and that it ran fine down the road? If so, then the idle adjustment could be different on your carbs or they could be out of sync.
