  1. The '87 & '88 swingarms and carriers were different than the later model ones. The early ones used four short bolts instead of two long ones to hold the carrier to the swingarm. Also on the older ones, the carrier mounting tabs go on the outside of the swingarm tabs. So the washers that are welded to the upper swingarm holes are located on the outside of the tabs on the earlier models, while the later models have the washers on the inside. To use the old carrier with a new swingarm you will need to add a couple of washers as spacers on the upper bolts. So yes, it is a bolt on, but you'll need to use a couple of extra washers.
  2. Once you get that Clymer's manual, take the Banshee apart and grease a few key areas! This isn't really a mod, but it should be done as early as possible to a new Banshee. You'll be thanking yourself in couple of years. There are a few design/assembly flaws in the Banshee that allow components to rust together. If these parts are coated in Grease or antiseize, the rust will be minimized or stopped completely. The key areas are: The long upper A-arm bolt: Just remove the bolt, cover it with grease and re-install it. If you don't do this, the bolt will be rusted to the sleave with in a couple of years and you will only have two options to get it out: BFH (big friggin hammer) or Sawzall. The swingarm pivot bolt: Same thing, remove it and cover it with grease. Then reinstall. Rear axle carrier: Disasseble the rear axle carrier and coat everything with grease, including the splines in the axle. You can even put a grease zerk in the carrier to keep is filled with grease. Otherwise you'll need a press or BFH to get the axle out after only a couple of years.
  3. We plan to camp within the park. But I'm not sure where. Do you have any suggestions? I have only been there once, so I'm not real familiar with the place. I have heard stories about peoples tents getting run over by sand rails, so I'd like to be in a decent spot.
  4. I found out that my wife has been planning a birthday get together for me at Haspin Acres on Nov. 15 & 16. She has invited jeepers, mudders, and lots of ATV riders. I'm not sure how many people will make it. Most will probably wait and see how the weather is going to be. But, I figured I'd go ahead and extend the invitation to fellow HQ riders.
  5. Blue, I hope it gets stopped before it gets to your house and you don't lose anything. They've been talking on the news about sending firemen from Indiana out there to help out. I agree with all of the good things said about firemen. One of my friends if a firemen and trained EMT. I can't believe all of the crap and training that they have to go through just to get hired on. Then they don't get paid diddly squat. At least now they are getting the appreciation that they deserve.
  6. I wasn't able to find the old post, but I still have all of the pictures and the write-up. Send me an email at [email protected] and I'll send the stuff to you. Note that you should set aside about 10-12 hours to do this project. It still takes me about 6 hours and I already have the jig and have plenty of practise.
  7. I went looking for ways to get more power out of the Wife's Warrior. Plus I got a lot more work done.
  8. I'd like to, but I just found out that my axle bearings need replaced. I doubt that I'll get them replaced by Saturday.
  9. Last weekend my wife rode mine for the first time. She has a 2001 Warrior and couldn't believe how much more power the Banshee has . Luckily Banshee's don't have reverse or I'd be riding the Warrior for now on.
  10. I've heard about this place for a while, but haven't made it there yet. I just heard from a Jeeping buddy that it has been closed down to ATVs. Now they are only allowing registered, insured vehicles in. Is there any truth to this rumor?
  11. I run the stock box with the lid on. I plan to remove the lid when I get the time to rejet. I have the ProDesign plate with the UNI dual stage foam filter and an outerwear. I only oil the inner filter. I can usually get by with only cleaning the outer filter and outerwear between rides. I can do this with Simple Green and water. I will clean and re-oil the inner filter if it appears dirty, but I rarely have to. This keeps me from having to deal with the nasty filter oil as often.
  12. 1. Have you had a problem when hitting water? no 2. Did it bog or rev? neither 3. Do you have stock carbs? yes 4. Do they have the tors still on top? yes 5. What year is your banshee? 2002 I have a 2002 with clamp-on foam filter, DG pipes, stock pilots and 300 mains. I have not touched the TORS system. I haven't had any problem with water yet, but you guys have me concerned. Fixitrod: Have you heard anything back from the Carb manufacturer yet? Are you going to give the poll results to them to prove that there is a problem?
