I've always debated on switching to a twist but since i hear that it could propose a problem with ridin I wont. Only thing i hate with my thumb is that its like twice as hard to push as my buddies 400ex. you think its cuz of an old throttle cable?

I know some of you hate Alba but they do have a combo product on the market... You can switch back and forth for different riding styles.

Anyone have any experience with it? I was thinking of getting it, I have never had a thumb throttle, always twist but sometimes wouldn't mind thumb...

Hmmmmm...... don't know...

its called a dual gasser. you can switch back and forth whatever you like best. i dont have one but iv seen them. if your new to rideing the thumb will make your thumb hurt or if you havent used one it will forsure make it hurt but its all on what you get use to this topic can go on for years arguing back and forth witch is better for this and that but in the end its all personal opinion and pereferance. again if you new to rideing and you want to try them both but have no way to do it like another buddies bike get the dual gasser and the option is all yours. lol that kinda sounds like a slogan commercial for the dual gasser.

people say that the twist is dangerous and too hard to handle in the whoops.

have you ever seen a dirtbike with a thumb throttle ? hell no !

personally, i like both types (like SandRage).

when my son was just learning to ride i made sure he had a thumb throttle, but

now that he is better with throttle control he has even switched to twist.

also my pwks are too damn stiff for thumb throttle !!!

my thumb almost fell off after a couple hours riding. LOL i had to switch.

Believe it or not, there is a reason dirt bikes have a twist throttle and quads have a thumb. On a dirtbike you grip the bike with your legs, so it's not that important to grip the bars. Whereas on a quad most of your grip is through your hands on the bars. Theoretically, the thumb works much better on a quad, you have more grip on the bike, and more grip = better control.

I had a twist on my bike, and it was fun, but it can be tough, and less forgiving in some technical sections. I went with a Terry Cable dual gasser on my build, and that's really the best of both worlds. They run like $100, so if you have the dough, I'd say go for it, even if you only use the thumb, it at least looks better then stock.

Yeah, I think i'll get it, might as well. I've been riding for years and I prefer the twist but I wouldn't mind having the option sometimes cause yeah there are those scary moments with a twist where you realize you could have really jacked yourself up...

I was teaching my stepson to ride my banshee...(first mistake) and he started to get a little cocky and went off a really small jump but caught air and came down a little right-rear heavy, as soon as the right rear tire hit sand he tried to hold on too tight and gassed it.

Needless to say it bucked him off and cartwheeled over his head (yes he had a helmet on). Didn't get hurt but bent my axle...
