hotrodbanshee Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 I have been running a pro flo with KN and outerwears without the air box lid for 5yrs. Will there be any gain in performance by switching to KN pods and outerwears and doing away with the air box? Quote
sa3ood_banshee Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 yup day and night diffrence sa3ood Quote
jbooker82 Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 Hell I switched because it made jetting the carbs much easier. You dont have to wrestle with that air box. I do run PWK's though Quote
dajogejr Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 If you are gonna ride muddy or wet trails, leave it as is. If you're gonna ride dry area and dunes, put pods on. It is SO nice to loosen two hose clamps, slide the filters off and get to your carbs vs. having to wrestle with an air box and the boots. Remember to jet a few sizes richer, as well. Start with 3...work your way down if needed.... Quote
hotrodbanshee Posted November 10, 2007 Author Report Posted November 10, 2007 (edited) How does the toomey 2 into 1 setup compare to the pods? Where's the cheapest place to get a set of pods and outerwears? Edited November 10, 2007 by hotrodbanshee Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Where's the cheapest place to get a set of pods and outerwears? K&N CLAMP-ONS If you want to keep the overflow reservoir, you will also need THIS. If you search around, you may find something cheaper... Quote

hotrodbanshee Posted November 10, 2007 Author Report Posted November 10, 2007 Found some pods and outerwears on ebay for $44.00 shipped. They are not k/n's but say they are comparable to them. Quote
shee4speed Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 (edited) For 25 more dollars you get real K&N from Rocky Mountain. I dont know what the diff is. Edited November 10, 2007 by shee4speed Quote

dajogejr Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 I've run the K&N knockoff filters for two years, no issues...and saved some moolah too. Quote
hyperlite33 Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 I have the K&N knock-offs from ebay and I like them. They look and feel identical...haven't had any problems with them either! Quote

You need to go to an autoparts store and get a k&n cleaning kit which has the cleaning fluid and the oil to reoil it. I would not use foam filter oil on a fabric filter. Quote
