bansheefreak Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 yeah just pull the orings thru your fingers with grease on them .. get them coated them pop them in the head..dont gob bunch of grease just use enough to hold them in there.. Quote
castor927 Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 it's always good practice to grease/ oil any kind of orings before installation. with fiber gaskets, lightly wet with oil before installation, that way one day if the cover or whatever it is has to come off, better chance of gasket not sticking to anything. a head gasket would not apply to this, however. the grease/ oil on the orings for your head also aid in what you mentioned. jbooker82 Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 Use vasoline or petrolium jelly. The first time it gets hot it all melts. It doesnt build up. If you use regular grease it wont melt. eventually you could get enough in your radiator to start causing problems. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 regaurdless of using grease or vasoiline, you just need to put a tiny amount of a few parts around the oring to hold t in place when flip the head over. its not a matter of greasing the o ring to help it not crack its just to hold it in place so it dosent shift making a leak Quote
Snopczynski Posted October 19, 2007 Report Posted October 19, 2007 on a side note is $125 for a sand blast and $200 for a powdercoat a good deal for a banshee frame? No, not even close to a good deal. The guy up here charges $125 for sandblast and powdercoat. Quote

Duner440 Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 on a side note is $125 for a sand blast and $200 for a powdercoat a good deal for a banshee frame? Thats not a great price but it isnt that bad. Like Bansh-eman said, your location probably kicked your ass on that one. I will say that I have payed more than that just to have it PC'd from a reputable place (I wont mention any names...unless you want to know!) once and it came out like shit but most of them in this area are around $200 - $250. You didnt get hurt that bad. Quote
locogato11283 Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 just a dab here and there to hold them in place during installation.. and fuck no thats not a good deal. i can get sandblast and PC for like 150 here.. Quote

HAHA well its a good thing i didnt get it done i just got a quote from a place here in phoenix that seems like they know what they are doing but i guess ill keep looking. And thanks for the tips on the o-rings using vasoline will make it a lot easier, and i was just thinking of just a dab here and there just so i know it wont fall out, not coating the entire oring. I did read something about perserving the o-ring with grease if you lube the whole thing, is that even true? Quote
