i ride trails and i want to put a 13 tooth front sprocket on ...

how much work does it take and what d you hav to do etc.

Its pretty straight forward.

1. Remove stator cover.

2. Remove chain.

3. Your gonna see a metal washer under the sprocket bolt a piece should be bent up bend it back down.

4. remove and replace the sprocket.

5. tighten the bolt up and bent the washer back up.

6. put the chain on.

7. put the stator cover back on.

 

there ya go as simple as its gonna get.

Probably because he is trail riding, so he wants the low end without having it bog too much, etc.

i figured id post here instead of making a new topic. the stock gearing for a banshee is 14/41 i think, so i think the dealership gave me the wrong one because i have a 40 tooth rear sprocket. So will i need to go up a tooth in the front?

No, I wouldn't mess with it. One tooth less in the rear will give you a touch more top speed, you may not even notice it.

 

1 tooth up front is equal to 3 teeth in the rear, just FYI

I wouldnt put a 13 on there, I would go with a 14/41 or something close to that. I had a 13 on mine and it was way to low.

I'd stick with the 14 as well for now. What other mods do you have?

 

i have no mods my shee is stock. hopefully someone answers my ad in craigslist so i can sell my R/C that way i can get a set of tires or some pipes

ok i went through about a billion different gearing combos and here is what i found...if you wanna go realy realy fast and have zero low end run a 15/39 set up,with no mods other than pipes and jetting you get about 100mph on the top end after you finaly slug your way to the power band.. if you want to go fast and have low end run 14/43..you lose about 3-5 mph on the top but gain torque down low i am currently running a 14/44 set up but i have the timing advanced to +4 and im piped and jetted for sea level. and i have the k&n filter tors removed bla bla bla.. but so far the best set up (for me) is the 14 front and 43-44 rear. i ride glamis for fun and i race the so cal desert races. and that gearing set up gives me good speed and lots of pull out of corners and in the dunes. if you are riding trails try a 14/43 set up. you get a it more out of the gears and alot more pull out of corners and up hills. gearing all comes down to personal wants and needs...i like the 14/44 my buddy that i race with likes the stock 14/41 some guys like 15/39 its all going to come down to what you are looking to get by re gearing, and where you ride and your riding style. i ride very agressive and always push to the extreme so i like the hard pull out of corners or slower sections. but again im racing against the 4 strokes that are built to have that pull and that imediate power and not have to wqit untill you get in the band to get going..so play with it a bit and find something that fits your riding style and riding area..but try the 14/43 and see how you like it..

i think it can stay on..i dont remember its been a while since i switched over mine. but i dont remember having to pull it.. i know you have to pull it do do the break rotor. but the sprocket if i remember corrrectly will slide over it. i would highly recomend buying a set of replacement bolts for the sprocket though i noticed that they tend to break atleast 1 every time you try to change the damn thing. they ould strip out every time..they run like 40 cents each so its not a big deal to buy a few extras.. and if you dont need to use them you have them in the tool box if you do need them..you can never have enough oem parts laying around if you ever need something the night before a riding trip its there,,
