baddsheee Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Just wondering if it is normal for an engine to have vibrations when idling. When I rev it up it seems to remain in place pretty good. When idling it shakes and even my bikes are shaking. Is it normal or possibly the crank out of true. The crank is not welded :: and I know you guys might give me sh*t about it. That is next on the list. Quote
rideblue_06 Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 Depends on how much vibration u talking about. I know my engine will vibrate the worst right off idle but above that it is smooth. I also have a small vibration at idle but nothing out of the ordinary. From the banshees I have been around they all have vibrated a decent amount. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted November 27, 2006 Report Posted November 27, 2006 the bike is going to shake some... now if its out of control then your crank might be out .... get a camera and video it and post if your not sure... Quote

locogato11283 Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 thats pretty natural for a banshee engine to vibrate at idle. when you rev it up it will seem like its not vibrating as much. ive noticed it too.. unless its really out of control vibrating, dont worry about it. Quote
Slickgib Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 the higher i rev in nutral the more it vibrates. even my pipes are rattling Quote
Slickgib Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 at idel though. there is no vibration its only when i throttle. maybe its normal. Quote
shee rips Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 mine vibrates a fair amount at idle and just above idle it does quite a bit. after about 1/8 throttle it goes away for the most part. to describe it a bit when its vibrating its worst i can see the spark plugs moving a little over 1/4 inch maybe. if that describes yours then i wouldnt worry about it. Quote
Slickgib Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 thanks man;. i hope its normal. i dont want to tear into this baby untill i get enought cash to do a major overhaul if you know what i mean!! Quote
dajogejr Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 It's an 87 without a welded crank???? I'd bet 90% that it's the crank. I'd flip it on the back tires/grab bar, and look at all the motor mounts real good. Possibly have a rubber bushing shot...which is cheap and easy. Keep riding a bike with a crank starting to go...you think it'll cost you now to fix, wait till it grenades. Quote
Slickgib Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 how do i know if the crank is welded or not. when i satart to rev higher the shaking goes away a little bit. but at idel there is no shake. Quote
dajogejr Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 No way to tell unless you tear the motor all the way down. Quote
