Handyman Posted April 15, 2006 Author Report Posted April 15, 2006 I'm dying to find out what is wrong with the thing. Good money says it's gonna be the stupidest and most simple thing wrong with it. like a pinhole in the fuel line to one of the carbs. 502257 You and I both say the same thing or it's going to be a combination fo a couple things. As far as what the plug looked like on the dead side.....have no clue. they swapped out the plugs so I didn't get to see them. The screen in the petcock was good...the petcock was brand new because the old one had a hole in the screen so I replaced it. I have a feeling that it's either some thing that is staring at us right in the face that we are over looking or it's something majorly serious that we haven't clued in on. Quote
pipebomb Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 Maybe you should hire an exorcist? 502277 sure couldn't hurt any. Main Entry: ban Quote
yamban88 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Did they find anything out yet? I have been following this as well and would really like to see what the problem was. Could the headpipe be plugged on that side? Good luck and hope you figure it out! Quote
Handyman Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 They haven't found anything yet. I'm going to call and see if they have any ideas as to what it may be. If anything I'll just pull it our of the shop and park it in my garage and do some more research on what it could be. I don't want to start ordering parts and find that the parts were good and didn't need to order them. Quote
Handyman Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 Nothing new yet on the banshee. I called today and they had removed the top end to see if maybe that could be the cause. Once they get it together I hope they found something that was the cause. Quote
pipebomb Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 I'm telling you it's at least a 90% chance that it's gonna be something so asinine and simple, it won't funny. It almost always is. when I installed my 2 into 1setup, I unhooked the TORS and did a p-brake removal while I had the bike stripped down. after I put it back together, it would start on like the 2nd kick cold(didn't even do that when brand new) and idle perfect(didn't do that new either) but would go Bwwaah and bog right down when I hit the gas. spent 4 days trying to figure it out and even re-installed the duals agian thinking the Lectron waqs messed up, and it did the same thing w/ the dual. I even started to hook the TORS back up., when I noticed that I forgot to unhook the the stupid switch for the p-brake. A week of headaches because I missed disconnecting 2 little wires. Doh! Quote
Handyman Posted April 20, 2006 Author Report Posted April 20, 2006 ******UPDATE****** The banshee lives. Ted, the service manager called me this morning with good news saying they found the problem. He states the problem was that my jeting needle on the left side was damaged. He said that needle was causing the air to become turbulant as it would flow over the needle causing the gas/air mixture in the cyclinder to be shitty. he said after the owner saw the banshee sitting there still he got involved and got his hands dirty. The owner supposedly pulled the carbs and worked on them for about an hour and cam back and said that needle felt rough to the touch. so they took a magnifying glass and looked at it and saw that there were some knicks in it. They put in a new jet kit and said the bike ran better but not perfect. they pulled the 340 mains and put in 280 main and said it was running lean so they installed 310 mains and they said it felt like someone dropped in some octane booster because it was a whole new bike. When I got there I wanted to start it and when I did the exaust on the left side was a hell of a lot stronger and healthier than when I took it in. So they are blaming the needle. I think that when they took the jugs off and started looking in there and put it back together that they may have found something and didn't realize it becasue I doubt that a needle would cause all that headache. The best part is is that all I paid was the $65 diagnostic check and paid for the FMF Jet kit. I didn't apy for any labor. As far as the damaged needle..I'll blame the first dealership i took it to becasue they installed the jet kit and when I took the needles out I was extremely careful not to touch them with anything. So now that it runs I will be jumping on the 660 raptor in my garage and get it running. I will like to thank everyone for all the help.I don't think I can find any other place where total strangers would offer their help this much. Quote
suzuki0702 Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 and the saga ends just like that..!! happy for ya brother! Quote
DIRTMAN350 Posted April 20, 2006 Report Posted April 20, 2006 Congrats man. Good thing you dealer took care of you. Some of the smallest things are hard to find. Quote
98bonerSTOCKshee Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 sweet! mark one up for me... LOL it wasn't electrical... And yes the needle will affect it a whole lot.. it's the only jet that affects almost the whole throttle range! glad to hear they didn't rape you on labor, I was begining to wonder... Quote
mnduner Posted April 21, 2006 Report Posted April 21, 2006 kind of anti-climactic. at least their answer makes sense sort of. Quote
Ben350 Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 Has anyone ran into same thing or heard of same thing? Do you think it was needle or like you said something inside topend they didn't realize they fixed? Either way thats a hell of a dealership. If i were you i would do my best to give them some business. An owner that worked on a bike himself? Wow, that place isn't anything like the places around here Quote
