  1. am i missing something here? in the first pic it shows a new looking piston with no gouge marks and the crumbs on top, then in the other pic thats the piston pieces that came out of the exhaust? In the first pic shouldnt you just be looking down at the bent rod and some pieces? or did the dome of the piston completely break free and stay up at TDC????
  2. i would definitely ditch the grille, in the 2nd pic you can see its pretty much covering the whole top part of the radiator
  3. cool, thats what i figured. not like you can even see it once its on. will be trying it out on a ride in a couple weeks, see how it does
  4. Anyone ever hear anything about or run a Magnum Oversized Radiator? I just got one and as far as looks go i cant say im thrilled about it, but as long as it doesnt leak or anything i guess it doesnt matter. Thanks for any input
  5. i was looking at the trail maps up there and saw a lot of it is dirt bike only, and some say you need a Secretary Of State license to be on them? What the hell is that?
  6. thanks slobanshee actually, since you're from around there, we are staying at Oasis, what is the closest city for gas and food in case we need anything?
  7. thanks for info, it does look a lot more promising in UT then it does in ID. Looking back at last year it did the exact same thing in ID but when we got there the weather broke and was perfect the whole week, sure hope it happens again
  8. Me and my group are leaving wednesday to head out to Little Sahara UT until Sunday then going up to St.Anthony for a week, been watching the weather out there and it looks like its terrible. Has it been as bad as it looks on the TV? We've gone out to St Anthony every June for the last 4 years now, always had great weather, not looking too good for this trip though. Any word on if its supposed to get any better soon?
  9. Trying to find a set of Cascade CSFX silencers for CPI small bores, i know this is a long shot but you never know. Thanks for any replies
  10. I went threw so many of their stators and flywheels before finally giving up and telling them i dont want anymore warrantied parts, went back to stock parts and been great ever since. If you do run a stator or flywheel from them, i highly recommend always having a towstrap with you and bringing your stock parts as spares, you will need both. I wasted way too much time with them.
  11. Cant say i would have guessed that was the problem. You must be on the hair line of a too lean idle, maybe adjust your pilot screw some or go up a pilot jet. It should be able to run with the filter off. At least its running again
  12. You really should be getting a spark, i had a problem with mine not starting a while ago due to being frozen and i remember laying the plug/coil onto the top motor mount i think to check spark, and would get a consistent spark. So if you put yours there, it should spark. Do you have a DVOM meter? try checking the resistance between the head and negative cable of the battery. Double checking nothing bad happened when the flywheel was removed/installed was a good idea too Your cam timing (some people call it valve timing) still seems the most likely culprit. Its not as straightforward as it should, lining up the marks, especially with the cam mod done too. Easily could be off. You referring to a manual for how to do it? I think a compression test might be in order too, quick enough to do I have seen a lot of the intake boots tear too, usually tears inside the boot where it wraps around the carb, could have happened when you put the carb on or took it off
  13. so does it get a consistent spark now? i would triple check your valve timing, and make sure your valve clearances are OK. A tight valve or the timing being off will lower your compression, making it hard starting and a bad idle
  14. Have my cases split and am doing some work, and want to get the tranny working as good as i can. I have a couple questions about mods i always hear about, but you never see an explanation of them. At the moment i have the RZ shift forks with the roller followers, a new shift shaft, and i ground the shift star. So what exactly, in detail or even a pic, is the shift shaft mod? Also i want to side cut the gears on the dogs where the gears mesh together, anyone have a pic of it done? Is this typically only done for 5th gear? Thanks for any info
  15. i vote the KT355s that come on the YFZ's, one of the best tires ive used. Very good in snow too
  16. Fleet Mechanic for abatement/demolition company, ASE Master Mechanic
  17. may not be what your looking for, but the Dave Moore monorail chassis reminded me of the sundahl baja frame. Not sure it would hold up to MX, built for duning. Always wanted to build a shee around one of these. Look up Dave Moore Racing
  18. i bought my 2006 YFZ at the same time my brother bought his 700R. I love my banshee and the brutal power, and i like riding hard, the YFZ is perfect in every way for me. Only thing it lacks is long ride comfort, but doesnt bother me, the power and handling more then make up for it. When i rode my brothers 700, he had pipe, filter, efi controller, i found the power incredibly boring. All grunt, no revs. Its there, just have to get used to shifting sooner then i usually do. Feels like a tractor. My YFZ and banshee suit me much better, they are the same, the harder you rev them the faster they go. And the handling and shocks on the YFZ are by far the best part, its amazing. Ride some twisty trails and you'll fall in love. My brothers Raptor had shocks about as great as my old 400ex had. Im sure if you dump $5000 into the Raptor motor it would be fast, but that applies to any bike really
  19. i just called HMF and to ask some questions about a slip-on for my brothers KingQuad 700, told them i wasnt sure yet if i was going to buy it or not for x-mas, they offered the gift pack PLUS 20% off. Done deal. That 20% off really takes a lot off the total. If anyone else is interested, talk to Heather in sales when you call them. Pretty good deal
  20. I know some of my x-mas shopping involves buying some quad parts, figured this would be place for seeing what deals are out there. I know a got a discount card from Rocky Mountain in the mail and lots of other places are giving decent deals since everyone is slow this season. I was on HMF's site today getting a quiet core for my girlfriends bike, saw they had a x-mas gift pack deal. With a slip-on order you get a T-shirt, poster and sticker pack, and then with a full pipe you get a HMF umbrella too https://hmfengineering.com/freeshirt/
  21. i have a +6 on my setup and dunes just fine, but i wish i got a +4. go with that. i dont really drag race enough for the +6
  22. i have an SRP one from magicracing.com i like it a lot, and it is rebuildable and easy to do. Makes a huge difference for riding in choppy dunes
  23. i ran their HD clutch, held up real well, even with the water pump leaking antifreeze into the trans oil. I ran their pistons also, had no problems at all, seal and gaskets kits too. Not so sure on their other stuff. They are great for ordering small stuff and OEM stuff, way better then dealing with Yamaha and they stock all the OEM stuff you would ever need. Very good customer service and fast shipping too, i would recommend them
  24. thats kind of what i figured it would be like, but i feel better hearing it from someone that rides there. Thanks
  25. that is a nice looking bike, i have an 06 YFZ in the SE colors, wish my banshee matched it like yours
