racer Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 ive got 19cc domes, and to day i checked my compression. the tester read 215 pounds, both sides. that doesnt seem right. but it wasnt a shitty tester. it was a pretty fuckin new matco. so what gives? think thats possible? Quote
dlnoss Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 That does seem pretty high for 19cc domes. Is the compression tester tip the same length as the spark plug where is screws in to the dome? Is there another guage you can use to see what it reads? Quote
racer Posted March 6, 2005 Author Report Posted March 6, 2005 no, its slightly shorter. ill get another gauge on tuesday and try it out. maybe i just have one hellacious machinist? Quote
icemanscold Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 I run 18cc domes here in mich. and I got on a fresh rebuild around 190 psi. You may have a problem with yer tester. Quote

locogato11283 Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 thats too high for those domes. something else is wrong. you sure you have 19cc domes? Quote
. Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 R U Joking??? 334117[/snapback] It's been done Quote
rocketboy Posted March 6, 2005 Report Posted March 6, 2005 i bet its right! i have a cheaper tester and it will always read much lower than it should ,the chaep ones will usually read low! you may have some bad carbon build up on your piston tops which will raise comp . that is a crazy high # for your domes Quote
racer Posted March 7, 2005 Author Report Posted March 7, 2005 i got about 4 hours of ride time on it today, so ill check the comp again on tuesday. dont think they have ever been decked. seems odd since most fuck ups drop your compression. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 What pistons do you have... Vitos pistons and 19 cc domes might bump it that high Quote
SDD Posted March 7, 2005 Report Posted March 7, 2005 Cole your compression will also depend on your bore size and exhaust port timing. If your over 65.5 in bore I bet that your compression is close to 215. Quote
racer Posted March 7, 2005 Author Report Posted March 7, 2005 hmm, that is a good point paul. but no, not vitos pistons. just wiseco 795's. Quote
