wesw Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 toomey chrome blue normally but you might do a plug chop to see if its rich or lean Quote
locogato11283 Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 i had a set of chrome t5s one time that never blued. they are the ones on my bros bike right now and they still arent blue. i would think that would be caused by a lean condition. Quote
scotts96fast Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 sounds like your running lean and getting HOT...... Quote
sandgrencivic2k1 Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 I have toomey t5, and they are blued at the end, which toomey even says should happen when under wide open throttle for long amounts of time. I did a chop, and I am a nice dark tan, so it can just happen. My cousins is the same way. Quote

Big Blue Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 I had t6s and they blued about 3" from the cylinders and that was as far as it went. Quote
Lepew Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 It is normal for some blueing. My wifes t-5 have some and my Paul turners do too. Just make sure your jetting is right, the color of the pipes isn't a good indicator. Quote
RNBRAD Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Yea the chrome will turn blue, my stainless will turn a little yellow. Though surprisingly it will buff right back out to a chrome shine. Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 My t-6s blued about 2-3 inches, my jetting was a little fat through the middle at first. no problems now Quote
rockgc9 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I have tr-6' s and I have the same problem. It goes up about 3 inches. Quote
prichard9966 Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 all pipes will blue some. if they don't your probably too rich Quote
bigboybanshee Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 My Toomey's blued about 3-5 inches down, never had any overheating problems and my jetting was dead on...Some people say the blueing is from heat, some say it comes from the quality of chrome used...I say, check your plugs, if they look good, leave it alone and keep on riding! If you don't like the blueing, polish will usually remove most of it... Quote
richybanshee Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Blueing comes from heat... that is a fact. I'm not sure if when jetted correctly pipes will turn blue, but if they do the blueing may not be so intense or very wide. Go up on the mains 2 sizes and see how it runs, then check the sparkplugs at the base of the rings. If you do a lot of wide open throttle riding then is better to be a little rich on the mains, not too much though or performance will suffer. But you will suffer more if engine seizes. My friend had T5's and never got does blue spots on the pipes, but he rode with airbox lid and 280 mains. SEE YAHH !!!! Quote
