trickedcarbine Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 ^ agreed. ATF is fine if it's quality stuff. Especially something like a high performance Amsoil or royal purple. The regular ol cheap stuff needs changing much more if you're gonna keep the clutch stuff in good shape though. Quote

Atomic Monkey Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 I used to run type F, but got tired of changing it all the time. After doing doing a little research I picked up some tractor hydraulic oil made for transmissions and wet clutches. Its super cheap, and seems to be holding up a lot better than the type F. Got 4 rides totalling around 300 miles, there were a few hill climbs, some tight twisty stuff, and some asphalt launches. Never had any slippage, and the stuff still looks like it did the day I put it in. Anyway, that's my $.02 Quote

Banshee Chad Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 I drained the factory oil and have been using grape seed oil since. First pressed stuff works the best, it has a higher smoke point than other oils so it can get a lot hotter before it starts to break down. Can also use the same stuff in pre mix, makes ur smoke smell like wine.. When duning in California, it helps get a ton of chicks... They love wine. Quote

Piediddy Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 I like to rub my Trannys down with the Honda 2stroke trans oil. Quote
Turbo Chassis Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 type f tranny fluid is what ive always ran as well....you may have to change it a little more often....buts when its less than half price of the others thats fine by me. and typically if your tranny fluid is changing color and you feel it needs changed, its because your clutch is slipping, or you need new clutches Quote
trickedcarbine Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) Decent read about clutch stuff, quick mention about ATF. http://thexscafedotcom.wordpress.com/2011/01/08/22/ Edited December 12, 2014 by trickedcarbine Quote
