Larry's Shee Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 ive heard of people using tractor fluid. never tried it myself but i see no reason it wouldnt work. now i think of it, i dont see a reason most any fluid wouldnt work I looked into this a while back, and the hydro fluid has a spec on it as to clutches. Such as hydro trans (zero turn, etc) As long as it doesn't have friction modifiers, I would think anything in a 10-30, 30w would work. Motor oil with SM or less rating. Quote
Dixie normus Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 I always ran 10w30 oil for the last 18yrs. Never any issues. I tried atf. Didn't like Quote
ECshee Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 I run Honda Pro HP80/85 trans oil. Not sure and dont remember why i started using it over belray... other than cost maybe? But i think its actually a better fluid. Quote
registered user Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 aint nothing wrong with diff oil. in subzero temps it probly isnt the best choice but the other 8mnths of the year its fine. some of the older engines from back in the day had diff oil speced in the service manual. as far as bottom ends are concearned nothing really has changed since the 70's Quote
