Tape measure and 2mm margin for error = fail.

The end of most tapes move 1/16" depending on if you're pulling or pushing against it.

 

1/16" = 1.58mm

I think everyone is underestimating the length of 4mm. You don't need a microscope to spot it. Its the thickness of 3 quarters. How else would you measure it?
