4/10 head studs crooked. When the big bore sleeve was installed you have to re tap the stud holes. Well your tapping a hole that's 1/3 steal 2/3 alum some were done wrong. Could I just drill, tap helicoil the hole straight on a Bridgeport mill? My father a machinist says that won't work.

Ha! Ok......

Will it allow the head to drop on, maybe. Will it mess something else up, maybe. Those odds aren't good enough for my motors. But what the hell, I'm sure Kevin is willing to repair your stuff once you mess up listening to him.

I'll use a carbide drill and a cobalt tap. That should follow straight cutting half cast iron and half alum.

where exactly does cast iron come into it?

You could try to loosen up the head studs so they wiggle a little bit.  The head should drop right on then if they are only a little off.  You can then tighten up the studs and torque your head nuts down.

Well eBay (trinity) did the jugs lol couldn't pass up 100 for the set. Crooked studs = 100 bucks. I fixed em and 4mil ported for trail/drag 80-85hp by hjr. I had to put the studs in after hjr sent em back. That's when i saw wtf studs! I just tapped them with a hammer till the head goes on by hand. Problem solved.
