just curious if anyone has used any plugs other than the BR8ES, BP8ES or the B8ES? are there any options other options out there? someone asked me why we don't run anything else (like a bosch +4 or something) and I didn't really have an answer for him. i don't know the difference between a plug and a plug and figured it may be a good time to educate myself.

thanks

you can run differnt brands but as far as the number of that plug is because of the heat range. br8es is the recomended hear range for the stock motor. for instance, br7es is hotter i belive and br9es is colder. unless i said that backwords. anyways, that is the reasoning. any other numbered plugs could be running way too hot and burn holes in the pistons.

I like the NGK EG 's over the ES's they have a smaller electrode and resist fouling better imo.

I run B9EG's, work best in my shee for some reason.

lol  just a little muddy, proof that I do get it dirty from time to time. I get my balls busted for having it so clean all of the time.

You can make your own 10 dollar bosch plug. Just side gap the spark plug. You cut the electrode off so the end of it is right on the edge of the center electrode. It is an old hot rodders secreate.

You got the heat range numbers right, but the plugs don't really burn holes in the piston. Rather, in a hotter plug you have a broader insulator body, which retains more heat (hotter) and can lead to preignition or worse detonation, which could lead to what you were referencing. Because of my compression and timing, I run BR9ES plugs to make sure. Colder plugs will be less forgiving and more likely to foul if your jetting is off.

Yea, at twice the cost of ES I think its retarded. I had to put EGs in the drag bike cuz thats all they had stocked in a BR9. Ive never had fouling issues running BR8ES on gas, and BR9ES on methanol.

But I get a really good deal on them, sometimes its WHO you know...ya know

The EG's are just my preference.

I seen about 6 months ago, where someone was running those e3 spark plugs. Haven't heard anything about them though. Looking at their cross reference, the e3.31 replaces the B9ES, B8ES, and BR7ES. So, I don't know how that works.

yea i have also heard good things bout the E3 plugs... never ran them personally but have always been curious bout them... they brag about more power and lasting longer then ngk plugs but idk

I run the E3 plugs in my car and truck...I've seen some gas mileage increase but it's nothing major....On a long freeway trip I gained an extra 50 miles to the tank and not sure on the car yet...haven't had it on a long trip since I put them in. I "think" it helped power wise... noticed the truck was pulling a lot better going up hill on I-80 with the trailer loaded with 2 banshees and the truck was loaded with all the gear, tools etc for a 4 week stay at Sand Mt. Nv. Every car is different so it may work for some and not for others...also the way you drive plays a big factor as well...
