I just picked up my first banshee. I have been wanting one since I was real little and finally just traded for one. I have been told these run in the 100's. Mine topped out at 60MPH last night. What gives? I have lightened pistons, T6 pipes, and some Carbon fiber reeds. The tires were low and im 280lbs, but 40mph difference? I was PINNED in 6th gear on pavement.

100 mph is a myth, it can be done but not w/ those mods, change your sprockets for a little more, but you can only pull a tall gear w/ more power (don't hold it pinned in 6th to long either, or you'll be modding it alot sooner than you think ! ! )

The only way that a shee will run in the 100's is if you gear it that way, check your front and rear sprocket size. Stock geared shees should run about 72-73 mph

stock gearing is 14 front and 42 rear

Stock gearing on most is 14/41, but that's about right on mph. I had a 16 tooth front on a piped Bansee, and it went 84 mph on pavement, gps. It took forever to get there, though. As a rule of thumb, I think it's 6 mph for each additional tooth on the front sprocket, providing the engine can pull the higher gear. 16 was too much, really

uhh...well as a good rule of thumb dont run with your bike at wide open throttle for longer then 40-50 seconds or youll blow your top end pretty easy, 60 mph is enough to kill you as well.

Who said anything about running WOT for 40 - 50 seconds? He didn't say that. And when I said it took "forever" to get 84 mph, I didn't mean damn near a minute. Maybe a half mile, and how ever many seconds that took...don't know. I'm not disagreeing with you however. You make a terrific point.

I dont want to even say it because you guys are going to call me a BS artist. But My friend said that when he was driving next to me that his speedo said 85 then he slowed down and I kept going. I have stock gearing and he has a digital dash. I felt great when the told me. There were 4 people in the truck who all said the same. Maybe Ford doesnt know how to cal a speedo. Anyway after the port and the carb change I think its slower but a hell of alot quicker. If you know what Im sayin.

I'm a jockey atv rider and a stock shee with the ears off and low wind should do 75 with no airbox lid. Sorry to say but your weight is the problem .

More gearing usually requires more HP to push, once you get to a certain point. 60 seems a little low with the mods, but 100 ain't happening until you put some work into it...period.

I'm 250lbs, and in 300 feet, riders that weigh 125 to 170 lbs consistently turn 3 to 4 MPH faster than me, and that's in 300 foot....

Take off the front and rear fenders, that's worth another 2 to 3 MPH no joke....
