  1. same here, I liked the old forums better, plus a better database to search through!
  2. Ok, So I assume that the overall concensus is to go with it right?
  3. My cylinders are currently ported and run about 160 psi with the 19cc domes. I plan on running the 17cc domes. Anyone know if there is a problem with reliability with the higher compression. My crank is welded so that shouldn't be a problem. Just wondering if the pistons become weak with the higher compression. I will be running straight 110 octane..
  4. It's nothing to do with dirty carbs. That damn plunger gets old on all of the shee's. Either live with it, or buy a new one, and have it happen again a few years down the road!!
  5. I had the similar problem with my 96. Took me 8 months to find it. The damn thing would run great all day, then suddlenly bog out and not want to run. I had to give it half throttle just to keep it idleing. This thing was hard as hell to troubleshoot because sometimes it did it, sometimes it didn't. I swapped parts with a buddy to no avail. I finally decided to check all of the wiring from end to end. I took all of the electrical tape off and began checking. I started at the front, (Figures) and eventually found my problem at the rear. Yamaha puts the wiring to the CDI right next to the airbox. The wiring goes through three ears on the airbox to keep it from moving. Well, the ears on the box began chewing at the harness and frayed two wires. The wires sometimes touched, or made contact. This would cause the engine to die!!!!! I suggest checking that area first! I'm sure mine isn't the only bike with that problem!!!!
  6. Don't buy the ebay one. I have the exact same brand that came in a kit. Lasted maybe one year then went TI%S up!!
  7. I always stick with the 22's. Mainly because they give you the extra ground clearance to keep you from getting buried in Hole Shots.... I run the 22x11x8's on a 8x8 rim. This give it a really round shape. I only run 8 paddles. The 10's were just too hard on the drive train with a 22" tire!!
  8. If it still does it when it is warm then your problem is a notched Clutch Basket. This can be fixed by fileing the notches away from the fingers...
  9. In Washington State, and several other states, it will be considered "Community Property". Not one person owns any item solely. All property is owned by both parties. Even if the title is only in one of their names. If she forges his signature it can actually be legal. This is based on the same lines as wife cashing husbands checks. The wife can legally forge the husbands name on the check as long as they are married and it is not with malicious intent. Meaning that she didn't intend to fraud husband. Now the selling of the banshee can easily be stated that she needed to sell it to provide for the children, hence no malicious intent. Therefore no problems... I deal with this stuff regularly. I wouldn't worry one bit over it ( civil wise, safety is a different story). I couldn't count how many times I heard the statement "You'll See Me In Court". It never happens when the defendant has no money!!! Unless he is making $30.00 an hour in the pokey making license plates, DO IT!!! You cannot get the power of attorney unless he allows it. It sounds like this wont happen so I wouldn't worry about it. If you need any assistance feel free to email me. I've got a few years EXP in civil and criminal court....
  10. Yup!! My flywheel made the same type of sound. It came off of the crank and I thought my crank went!! Instead it just chewed up the keyway!!
  11. WHO THE HELL IS STAN?
  12. Jcwhitney is the cheapest place. I'm pretty sure you can adapt 1972 volkswagen pistons for your shee. For the crank, you want to buy one for a geo metro. You should be good to go with these!!
  13. Why hasn't anyone put this cd on the net or Kazaa yet?
  14. I have used ATF for about 10 years in all of my 2 stokes and have never had a problem. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it is very thin. Thus it can seep from old seals. A heavier oil will tend not to leak... I recently have switched to Castrol GTX 10x-30. Castrol GTX is the only motor oil that I have found that does not have friction modifiers in it... Remember clean cheap oil is always better than dirty expensive oil. So if you can't afford the 6.00 bucks a bottle stuff then use ATF or Castrol and change it after every ride... Almost any oil you put in there will be fine for the tranny... It's the clutch that tends to be picky. So if you try an oil, and it causes a slipping clutch, then try a different one... Viscosity means nothing with transmissions, only film strength matters......
  15. yes you are fine!!
  16. I would just do it yourself!! Go buy a decent bench polisher like this one http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Disp...temnumber=45901. After you take paint remover to the part, It isn't that hard to polish it your self. Buy some emery compound and have at it!!
  17. Ok, I got a hold of Dan at Patriot.. He recommends the solid insert way, I'm just gonna send the cylinder to him to take care of it!!! (At least I got someone to bitch at if it doesn't work!!!) Thanks again all!!!
  18. Well This makes me feel better!!! I'll see if I can find a place that will do it... It sounds as if a heli coil is better to do now, then if that fails put a solid insert in it. The hole drilled for the heli coil is smaller than an insert correct?
  19. I'm just scared to do it!!! So you are sure that a heli coil will work?
  20. OMFG!! I installed a new set of domes on my aftermarket head and when I tried to torque one of the head bolts, it just began to spin out of the cylinder..... There are now no threads left in the hole for the stud to screw into!!! It's the bolt that is closest to the exhaust port! How do I fix this? Is a heli coil the only way???? HELP!! I don't know if this link will work or not... But here it goes.. Edit: Fixed ya up in the pic department. Click the edit button for this post, and see how I did it!! Then, you can post your pics with ease.
  21. I've owned the one of the atvseatcovers.com ones and currently I own a cascade one. The cascade cover is much better quality, thicker vinyl, and fits better. They are smart not to put the seams right were your leg rubs for durability!!! www.cascadeinnovations.com Trust me... Can't beat them!
  22. you cant beat www.forwardair.com. I just finished a transaction with them and a banshee. Shipped from Michigan to Washington State for 400.00. And they included a crate to ship it in!
  23. Well I'll tell you one thing. It's better that Honda R&D the heck out of it and sell it as a rock hard machine that sell it like the 2001 Raptor with tranny problems and the new YFZ with overheating problems. That is exactly why Yamaha pisses me off sometimes. The freaking Raptor should of been recalled. Instead they made me pay 1300 bucks for their lack of R&D. PS I still own a banshee!!!
  24. man you had to make your own bracket. Not a big deal, but should be a bolt on if it is advertised as such!
  25. Has anyone purchased one of these lights? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2451886461 Just wondering how well they lasted and how well the install looks!
