You also got to remember where you are riding. I have a banshee (mods are below and its for sale!) and a 700. My 700 will kill the banshee on anything but sand. In sand, it's hard to say. My raptor was recently dyno'd at 51.5 HP with slicks and at sea level. All i have is a PCIII, exhaust and filter setup. That's pretty close to a banshee with pipes, filter and jetting if not more! Personally, I love the banshee. However the longer I rode it, the more problems I had. I owned it for 6 years and had to rebuild it three times in the sand. Not to mention the numerous other nickel and dime fixes! I am really good with pre-maintenance however no matter how much I did, it was never enough! Two of my friends bought brand new 660's and the only probs they had was tranny re-gearing and starter clutch. Thats pretty good for 6 years of ride time! Bottom line, the banshee will always be the king of the dunes, but your pocket book better be deep because your gonna tap into it for parts! I'm 29 now and I no longer want to work on anything in the sand. When I drive 6+ hours to get there, working on the %ucking banshee was the last thing I wanted to do! Banshee's are like an ex-girlfriend. I'll think about riding her all the time, but I'll be damned if I want the $itch back!

I need some help choosing a set of chain / sprockets. I bought the Vito's set in the past and they seem to only last on trip to the dunes (5 days of riding) Anyone know where to buy a set that will last?

actually I owned one.... Traded it in on a yzf450. And yes, they are TOOO HEAVY and blocky. Horrible trail quad. Not bad for the dunes, but not good either.

The predator is the wrong bike to get. Heavy, horrible steering, blocky feeling, and not fun to ride..........

I'm debating on building a 500 shee with a CR 500 engine. I now have a spare banshee frame with swing and A-Arms so it should be a decent swap. I found this one on Ebay ENGINE which seems to fit the ticket. Anyone know of anything else I need to be aware of? Will the stock banshee swingarm/rear sprocket hub work?

It seems that everytime I spend a week in the sand, it's time for a new chain and sprockets. They seem to work ok for the first few days, then the chain starts to skip on the sproket in deep sand or on a heavy load. Anyone else have this prob? are the sidewinder's worth buying or will they do it too?

Uhhh not everyone in the country has enhanced 911 yet or otherwise known as E-911. Think before you speak, if a dispatch does not have E-911 then they do not know where the call came from, thus they can't do anything about pranks. The town I used to live in did not have E-911.................... Before you speak out your ass and insult everyone about the knowledge you supposedly have, get informed first! rjvoight: Good call, I agree. It's obvious that the petition is generated by the family and I feel for their loss. However there are always two sides to a story and often times the other side, especially in government, never gets told. Anyone stop to think maybe he was getting prank calls throughout the night? It happens... 18 year veteran with an unblemished record tells me that there is more to the story.....................

The other thing that will cause it is a notched clutch basket. If you have some notches on the fingers, then it's time to file them off or buy a new basket if it is too worn!

I currently have the studs for a cool head and recently switched back to a noss head. I need the stock style studs now and I'm not sure which ones to get. The parts fish shows two seperate ones?? Any one know which ones to get, or want to trade these for the stockers?

OK.... Whatever.... I've ran ATF for 15 years now. In my CR500 and my CR250 Which I ran in 3 outdoor motorcross series, and all three of my banshees. Dexron III may fry it, I have no idea. I only use Type F tranny fluid and have NEVER rebuilt a tranny in any of my bikes. The clutches wear as normal. Don't believe the hype, I have no idea why people are so dedicated to the $6.00 a quart stuff when Type F has been PROVEN time and time again. Why haven't you seen anyone post one here "ATF BLEW MY TRANNY UP"........... It's never happened!

DONT START IT!! What happens a ton on cars without exhaust is when it is eventually shut off, everything cools down way too fast. This causes uneven shrinkage and could lead to piston problems. I wouldn't try it just to be sure!

The number on the engine means nothing. It is just a number to identify assembly line info. The number on the frame is the one that identifies the bike!
