  1. Sorry, after rethinking the 3/9 thing about the wrist pin I double checked and bdc is about .003 different from left to right. If I am overthinking this, someone just let me know. Right now it's looking as though the new domes will still work but idk. this whole thing makes no sense, none of the numbers add up. Maybe the jugs are different heights? or am I digging too deep?
  2. Took a few more numbers after a quick conversation with justin. I was checking squish at 12/6 and he told me to check at 3/9 because of the connecting rod, won't allow the piston to rock and change the data. So put the jugs on, put the head on (without of rings to avoid pinching and damaging one) and I show 004 difference. 064 on the left and 060 on the right. I also measured down to the piston from the deck and I show almost 007 different in bdc, the left piston sits lower than the right. Why the TDC and bdc numbers are different is beyond me, but that's what I show Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  3. So, this is something I will admit I hadn't thought of. We took all these measurements but never compared the 2. So, I just measured from the top of my cases to the top of my pistons with my dial calipers.... And what did I find? To the top of the left piston, 3.995, and the top of the right, 4.186. Exactly the number I'm off on the stroke according to my squish test. So I have a crank with 2 different strokes. This explains why the left cylinder sounds different, smokes different and why the plugs have never looked the same when I pull them. Damnit I'm pissed. It needs a crank before I ride it again
  4. There's a chance I don't know what I'm talking about. I take 0 offense sir. My brother however is a ford diesel mechanic, and has built his own engines, we just aren't well versed in 2 strokes. I'm learning though. I've come a long way in 4-5 months
  5. What subforum would it be best to post in? reviews or sponsor spotlight?
  6. next time, it'll be Jeff at Fast or Cam at Redline
  7. I don't feel as though I confronted him. I just text him back about the issue, he didn't reply. I text him hours later with a possible solution (swapping my crank for a HR crank and I pay all the difference) and that's when he said his crank was far better than a HR crank lol! He actually said lol! which blew my mind. Like he doesn't believe this shit. I wouldn't go through all of this if I didn't have a problem. I just want my shit to make the power I was promised. With that said, Justin txt me back and said the domes and new cometic gasket should be here next week. I am excited again
  8. I'm going to do just that, and for the record... Turnaround time isn't the reason I went to him. I called him, he answered right away, told me everything I wanted to hear, I read reviews and they all looked great, then all this. He hasn't been real helpful since I got my parts. In fact he never even replied back to me last night. Customer service game is weak
  9. Much appreciated sir, I'm looking forward to meeting some of the closer forum members. Where are you from? Zilla, I'm pretty disappointed with him next time I'll call a better builder
  10. Update, Kevin is denying it's a crank issue and after talking with sleeper and Justin, it's being handled. Justin is having domes cut for me, then it's going on his dyno. Once it's rebuild time I'll get a HR crank and make it 100% correct Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  11. Since I text him back about the crank being short he hasn't responded to me Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  12. So he just text me, told me that I could remove the base gasket to fix the squish? Which sounds a little crazy to me. He also told me where to set my timing but that seems irrelevant for the issue at hand as I didn't mention that in my voice-mail. Waiting on a response. I told him about the cranks stroke being short, he says the domes should have provided a .055 squish, and the cranks lack of stroke is exactly the difference in my squish and what he said it should have been. 13. Looking for some input, when I do speak with him, do I ask him to replace the crank? I mean I'll ship this one back to him Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  14. I agree, and it concerns me. It'll be at least 40 minutes before I can even talk to him. I might have to put the jugs back on tonight and take pictures of my dimensions to show its off. Hopefully he's willing to work with me
  15. I'm waiting for Kevin to call me back and see what he has to say. I doubt many of his customers are as specific as I am. As a rifle reloader, I care about sub-thousandth accuracy. So when I found out I was 20 thou off that was huge Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  16. Man this forum has been awesome. Without you guys I wouldn't have tore into my engine. I thought my shit was badass as is, I can't wait to see what happens with more compression and some dyno time. Also going to change my Gearing, most likely back to stock Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  17. I honestly wish at this point that I had shipped the whole engine to him so that A. My case transfers could be matched B. He could have assembled the engine and any issues would have been found then Live and learn though. What this experience has taught me is invaluable Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  18. Regardless though, yes, I'm going to start with him and see what he's willing to do before just buying domes Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  19. I called him, no answer so I left a voice mail, hopefully he'll call me back tomorrow but in the past I've found he doesn't call back, so I have to text him to get an answer. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  20. And we found the issue. We measured the stroke of the engine, 57.81mm, so it's only a 3.81mm stroker which is the .019 I'm currently off. Surf jag told me to check that out and sure enough. So.... Until I'm ready to buy a HR crank and change cylinders I'm going to roll with what I have and have new domes cut to work with what I currently have Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  21. Okay, I have some numbers. My bore is 64.3 My pistons sit .065 above the deck My pistons drop roughly .005 below the exhaust port (it was hard to measure with accuracy) And depending on where I measure the base gasket it shows anywhere between .019 & .029 Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  22. No doubt about that. I'll shoot him a text and see when he could help me out. I could possibly go this Sunday if he was free. My weekends are pretty loaded Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  23. I couldn't go see him for a few weeks. I'm busy the next 2 weekends and Saturday the 17th Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  24. Tricked, I will get that number for you tonight. I also feel as though I might be able to go to a thinner base seeing as my piston sits lower than the port at bdc. Aside from that measurement, and the base, what else should I measure Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
  25. Sounds good. I really appreciate all the input. As soon as I get home I'll pull the jugs and try to get some answers tonight. Even if I'm unable to call Kevin or cam, I'll atleast be able to post here and see what the concensus is Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
