  1. Try swapping the plug wires and see if the smoking issue swaps sides. If that doesn't work try a compression test (you should do this anyway). Then if that checks out clean your carbs. Don't just spray carb cleaner on parts and think its clean. Use swabs, compressed air, etc. I'd also check your reeds and mske sure they are sitting flush. 95% of the times one of the things I mentioned will fix your problem. For reeds I'd go vforce if you have the cash or boysen. TORS eliminator kit can be found on F.A.S.T. or rockymountanatv. I have a motion pro one from rockymountanatv, and it works well. Just make sure you get an idle kit with the TORS eliminator kit, otherwise you'll have no way to adjust your idle. Sorry for any typos, I'm on my phone
  2. I'd try your local hardware store. Home depot or lowes don't carry anything worth a damn in metric. Hit up a true value or ace hardware. That's what I did at least.
  3. Its about 30 min north of Gladwin but the trails are nice. You find random bowls and sand pits. It's pretty sandy though so its very dusty. But it's a good variety. Lots of good hills, whoops, woods, fields, etc
  4. Make sure to heat the hub and not the bearing. I'm sure you know that but just want to make sure.
  5. I had luck with map gas and a 3/8" socket extension with a BFH.
  6. Compression test is kicking with WOT about 10 times til the pressure stops going up.
  7. What are your mods and current jetting setup? I'd start with 1.5 turns on the air screw. If your carb spews gas it because of a stuck float or impropper float height, or even maybe your float leaks and sinks. If its stuck you can usually get it free by hitting it with the handle of a screw driver or by picking up the back of your quad and dropping it a few times. How did you measure your float height and what is it at now? If your float leaks you'll hear gas slosh around inside of it when you shake it. Finally, if your float system is all jacked up you will definitely have a problem getting it to run.
  8. What exhaust system are you running? Is there any chance you saw sparks and not a flame?
  9. I'd say 27.5 pilots witj 1.5 turns on the air screw would be pretty close. Mains I would go 300 to be safe and do a plug chop. I think 290 or even 280 is pretty close though. I'd start with the middle clip on the needle, too.
  10. A bad air leak would help explain the huge main jet and still being lean.
  11. Did you ever do a squish test? Compression test? Leakdown test? All of these should be done before you start running a new bike or new rebuild.
  12. I posted it like last week or so. Now i can't find it on Craigslist. It was listed on Michigan Craigslist even though it's in Illinois. Maybe some sorry sap bought it.
  13. It wouldnt be quite the same. The light springs have a smaller spring constant.
  14. I'd say 20 but you'd probably be ok at 19 with your elevation. Maybe someone else can chime in too.
  15. What's your elevation, what kind of gas do you want to run?
  16. If that doesn't fix it check your float height or even check the float for a leak. If for some reason your float leaks and has gas in it, it won't be a float anymore....obviously lol. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to knock the float free though. I had the exact same problem and it worked like a charm.
  17. For some odd reason, it is kind of common for the float to get stuck after you have the carb completely apart. Give the bowl a couple of knocks with handle of a screw driver, and pick up then drop your quad a few times and see if it still leaks. Also, does it leak anytime the gas is on or only after you shut it off? If it leaks anytime the gas is on I can about guarantee your float is stuck.
  18. Set your float height. Then if it still does it hit the bowl with the handle of a screwdriver. If that doesn't work pick up the back of your quad and drop it hard a few times. To me it sounds like a stuck float or impropper float height. My right float got stuck after cleaning the carb and gas would just run out of the overflow. It just needed a couple whacks to get it unstuck.
  19. If you are sure water was the culprit, is there a chance rain got into your tank? Do you have a vent tube on your cap? Just throwing out ideas
  20. Gladwin area. That's about the furthest south in MI with orv trails.
  21. Swap your plug wires and see if the problem moves to the other cylinder. Pull the stator cover and make sure it didn't get wet.
