  1. I see a few running in frames with no problems.
  2. http://www.rb-designs.com/squish-band-test.htm look at how the solder is shaped on that site, the hump is so you can adjust the solder in or out to fit the bore.
  3. a yes, you can but it needs be all the way against the cylinder. if you are tearing the motor apart i would pull the head and lay the solder in there that way its kind of idiot proof. if going through the plug hole i would do a few extra solders just to compare and get the right reading.
  4. i remove the head, lay it across same direction as pin. go until it touches both cylinder walls. torque down head and turn motor over to smash the solder. Its difficult to get a good reading sticking it right in the plug hole because it needs to go all the way against the cylinder wall, i have a few friends that do it that way.
  5. my tag office goes off the value and not the purchase price.
  6. Check all the bullet terminals. Make sure they are clean and tight. Tug on the wire at each terminal to make sure the wire is still crimped and making contact.
  7. Exactly, that is my plan today .050 was my target Matt said for a av gas motor .040 may be a little tight.
  8. ,I put a couple hours on it before I decided to tear it apart. I'm glad I did, cause every screw in the motor was loose and starting to back out.
  9. Yep and I appreciate the help. I remember you saying you don't mess with them, been a few days..
  10. So that no one gets confused, I got a supposed to be 421 cub on CL. I rode it and it wouldn't shift under power so I decided to split it apart to upgrade the clutch and trans. Before I got it apart I ordered a billet basket, pancake bearing and lock up. All from Matt and that was when I asked him about custom domes , and that's when he told me what dome to run. Thank you and have a good day.
  11. I never said he sold me the cub.. Sorry for the confusion. The little cub that could.. Started out a supposedly 421 cub I bought off CL that turned into a 350 cub once I tore into it .
  12. I think on CP's sight it was a .015 if I remember right. But even at .012 that would give me .062.. I'm gonna check my port timing tomorrow , maybe call shear .idk I think it will be ok sealed no gasket.
  13. . The whole bike came from CraigsList. The new parts came from Matt. The domes I actually picked up from Sand Trax, but at Matt's advice, Sand Trax had them in stock.
  14. I agree I agree. He assumed it was built right in the first place. I'm calling him tomorrow. Damn Craigslist specials ..
  15. "Kind of really old " was last week. I didn't ask them about removing the base gasket.....cam suggested that to me. I got the idea then asked you guys...Matt told me to run the mod quad domes because, out of the box the dome profile would be what I wanted for my motor. I took his advise and when I measured my squish about an hour ago it was way too loose.
  16. Carried my 150 lbs. it was stronger them my 4 mill that was at 70 hp with a nice curve.
  17. maybe him and cam at redline, cam told me over the phone not to worry about custom domes on 350 cub. Ha. I guess 350 cubs Aren't real competitive motors.
  18. . He beat everyone I quoted in price, with fast delivery.
  19. yep, I bought all my stuff from him.
  20. Mine has Red lock tight with no problems.
  21. I always used rtv from the Chevy dealership cause it was free and held up to a leak down test. I feel nervous using it on the cylinder surface area.
  22. Cool thanks for the info.
  23. I asked a couple of builders about custom cut domes and was told " on that motor shelf domes are fine" so thank you for your help and wisdom.
  24. Just got new domes from SCP. He sent me mod quads and said the dome profile was the best out of the box for my pistons. And to correct the squish with different thickness base gaskets. Cam at redline said I could glue the cylinder down if I needed too.
