jeff, youre the man! guys, ive installed lots of seat covers, and NONE, not even factory replacements have fit this well. In the pic the cover is just half ass tacked on, as i was soo excited to see how it was gonna look.... i had the idea of doing piping, but after he made the cover HE didnt like how it looked, and scrapped the idea... THATS how a PROFESSIONAL does business! he takes pride in his work, and it shows BIG TIME

is this a good trade for my banshee?
thrill-billy85 replied to bansheedude55's topic in General Banshee Discussion
you wanna get into motocross, yet you want a bike you wont have to rebuild for a couple of years..... you dont have any money, but you wanna get into motocross...... ok SHUT UP and listen to us! youve got TONS of people ALL telling you the same thing. your feeble mind is already made up it sounds like, so why are we still going round and round on this dead horse? i started out on dirtbikes when i was 9.... and up until last may, thats all ive ever ridden. ive raced hare scrambles and quite a few XC's. you are a total idiot if you trade your banshee for this piece of shit. and make no mistake, it IS DEFINATELY a piece of shit. dude, you can barely get into a piece of shit dirt bike, but you wanna get into motocross.... first of all, the motocross ship has sailed for you buddy. im guessing youre at least 15... WAY TOO LATE to start trying to learn. much less its gonna take TONS of seat time on a bike thats already worn out... ive had practice bikes 10x nicer than that. by the time you almost start getting comfortable on that thing, its gonna be time for a rebuild. if not WAY before. i rebuilt my YZ250 every season AT LEAST. its expensive and i even had local sponsors. you bearly have the funds to GET a dirtbike, yet you wanna get into RACING???? number one.... lets just say for a moment, you did end up having the talent to ride a bike competitively, you WILL NOT BE COMPETITIVE ON THIS BIKE.... period. but it doesnt matter, because youre gonna be up against guys that live, eat, breathe, and sleep motocross, and have since they were 4, putting around their yard on a PW50. not to mention, they have vicarious parents with lots of money. if you wanna bike, sell your shee, save some money, and get a 250 2 stroke, of a 450 4 stroke. a 250 4 stroke is the worst idea ever. youre wanting a bike to learn on??? a 250/2 will only go as fast as you make it go.... in summary, and by your own admission: youre strapped on cash, and can bearly get this ragged out piece of shit.... yet you wanna learn on it, and step up to a bigger one??? good luck trading this nasty thing for something of any value. if you trade youe shee, and your dumb ass probably will, youll be stuck with this thing -

uhh hey buddy.... youre not having a jetting problem...... it may be an air/fuel problem, and your jetting my indeed be off, but youve got bigger issues. i think youre having an air leak some where. check your intake boots, and do a leak down test. if you dont have a tester theres a thread on how to buiold your own, or i make them also for 30 shipped. also check and make sure you are getting a good spark. like jeff said your jetting should be close, but even if its off, still shouldnt take 50 friggin kicks! have you tried spraying in a LITTLE but of starting fluid?? do a search for pre-post checklist, and go thru it. come back with some more info

man, i like the new ride.... SUPER CLEAN, immaculate plastics, matching bolts/ hardware etc.... you've got a great platform for a build.... get some chrome pipes.... ASAP!!

banshee smashes spark plug electrode?
thrill-billy85 replied to dtr7720's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
hey! shut up and listen =) there are bigger fish to fry than worrying about cases with chain whack..... get wiesco 513 series pistons.... SPLIT THE CASES and get all the bullshit outta the bottom of your motor!!!!!!!!! there's stuff in there... i promise......... get your crank checked/rebuilt.... were not ALL saying this cause its fun to do and feels great. you probably had a lower end bearing fail... which would cause the problem you're having.... in fact that's where my money is... and lastly... it probably needs to be bored... if for no other reasons than your pistons matching the bore. if there's something your dad doesn't wanna pay for cause he doesn't think its necessary.... set up a lemonade stand and help him out... -

CLYMER MANUAL metric sockets metric wrenches metric allen wrenches screw driver set assortment of pliers snap ring pliers a good crescent wrench torque wrench (dont cut corners, torque specs exist for a reason) flywheel puller 1/2" impact wrench (pneumatic, or battery powered) ball joint separator http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_SPM2092193903P?prdNo=13&blockNo=13&blockType=G13 cordless drill, and assortment of bits The list is in order of importance IMHO exept for the first 5 items... those are essential ALONG WITH A COMPRESSION TESTER, AN LEAK DOWN TESTER (theres a thread to build your own leak down tester, or i sell them for $35 shipped) honestly the first issue you have (starting, running, jetting etc)one of the FIRST questions were gonna ask are "have you done a compression, and leak-down test) if your answer is NO then its hard/impossible to give you accurate advice.... get BOTH ASAP if you have the full list above, you should be able to completely tear-down, and re-assemble your banshee (i might have forgotten a thing or two)

X2 same problem once, but mine was on a set of flea-bay 28PWK's... aluminum D-slides, not the chrome ones.... fail. it could be worn slides, or even a bent needle, or a junk cable causing the carbs to stick. or a huge plethora of stuff..... the list on my stock carbs when i bought my banshee include: cracked intakes missing choke tube slides in the wrong carbs (meaning they were backwards) bowls not on correct carbs cracked reeds (not ON the carbs, but an intake issue no less) DO THIS.... get her started.... rev it a little (so it sticks) then rev it about 1/2 to 3/4 and let it slam back shut.... see if that helps bring the idle back down... or take your airbox off and physically LOOK at your slides and see that they are all the way down. but dont trust it if they only LOOK like they are... use your finger to see if you can actually push them down.... i say this from experience

X2 i mean, im not your da-da, but look at the big picture. banshee is a toy... nothing more. im in the middle of a build myself, but im not gonna cut corners on the engine or really anything IMO. cash is tight for most, and we all get that. i just had to pay 1100 in airfare to austin, cause my father-in-law was nearly on his death-bed, and wanted to see his grandson... i had to call jeff and tell him to put my stuff on the back burner.... but theyre getting paid in-full today. make sure you got everything straight, and a decent cushion before you go dropping money into the shee. honestly, if your crank cannot be rebuilt, id buy a used stock crank for cheap, and then hit up jeff at FAST and hell hook you up. great guy to deal with. id like to add that the only reason i recommend Jeff at FAST, is because he is the only builder ive dealt with. that being said, i hear all the site sponsor builders are all very stand-up guys. id also like to think Tim at stellar. i called him at 5:45 on monday, the next day (early afternoon) he had my set of tie rods machined, boxed, and in the mail. -
ONCE AGAIN>>>>>>>> search for pre-post checklist

thrill-billy85 replied to BAN-421-SHEE's topic in Banshee Appearance

theyre not the same... one one has the choke circut. if you take the bowls off there is a brass siphon tube feeding down into the bowl... only the carb with the choke knob has it. it feeds down into a hole in the bowl (BOTH bowls have the hole) at the bottom of the hole there is a tiny brass jet (choke jet) the choke jet is only in the hole on ONE of the bowls.... the bowl that has it is the one that needs to be on the carb WITH the brass siphon tube (not to be confused with the angled over-flow tubes that both bowls have)
-
once again...... pre post checklist.... do a search for it.... read it.... and come back with some more intelligent information...
-
i wrote a fucking pre-post check-list for this EXACT type of shit.... you just got had by one of the most common starting problems associated with stock carbs....
