if the shop was union we would have switched long time ago LOL. but really we have full upper suits looks kinda like a snowmobile helmit! but ya it sure does the trick.

thanks, I'm glad you could get some Ideas, banshee looked like hell when I first got it but it sure did rip & ran great, so I got to put a little more work into the looks department rather than all in the motor. Its amazing how the little things like matching gas lines and vent lines make it pop and those things are very nice to your wallet.

whats the right way to warm your bike up in cold weather?
BigMatt replied to BigMatt's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thanks man just want to be safe, I to also had the vapor me and trail tech went back and forth to get the tach to work... no luck so they sent me the vector witch i like alot better they sent me the remote to, its setup more for racing. my jetting is not just right yet, I'm not sure what the guy before me ran as a mix I know he ran klotz R-50 but as far as 32-1 40-1 50-1 I tried 32-1 to rich than 50-1 to lean so now im at 40-1 I'll have to chop the plugs a little later to see thanks tho_ -
I know winters almost over, but whats the best way to warm your banshee up? I heard idling a banshee is bad, so how do you warm them up? drive around in 1st gear at low RPM's? also I have a vector and watch my water temps I dont rip on my bike till the coolant temp is around 100degrees whats the real safe warm up coolant temp?

ya... I want to do it to the clutch side to. with the motor blue if I painted the whole stator cover & clutch cover I thought it would be to much.
-
sand blasting should take that rate out, what kinda sand do you have in there? play sand worked best for me its pretty corse, but than again where I work we blast CAT machines so it was a little over kill for my A-arms.

ok I bought a 1999 yamaha banshee with mostly motor work done milled head, ported & polished, wesco pistons, FMF so on... got it for $1,500 but lacked in the look department, so heres what I did to the stator cover wondered if any one else has done this. Also here is the link to my photobucket showing as I progressed in my build hope you like it any Ideals let me know, I was going to get a billet cover but want to save up... for a full elka suspention for my big ass! I tired to load bigger pic's but no worky.... so here is my link to bigger photos http://s682.photobucket.com/albums/vv182/mattrentz_2009/Yamaha%20Banshee/

-

-
I did'nt know front 12t where bad, Why is that? ya I think next I'll try a 13t front and a 42t or 44t rear. do I need a puller to take off the front sprocket? thanks, Matt

get some red helix fuel lines they look pink! but looks cool, I cant get my girl to ride my banshee let alone wash it!
-
when I bought the bike there was 12t up front and a 46t rear its geared to low my shifts are way to short to keep up with my 4stroke friends, my bike is all out faster than theres but I just find myself shifting to much, the trails i ride are sandy & soft dirt with very few wide open runs, top speed is around 45-50mph the kicker is i'm 275lb so what gearing do you guys think I should run, thanks

installed the switch for anyone who want to also install one splice one wire into the black with white stripped wire and the other to the the soild black to find these wires follow you kill switch wires down to where they connect to the harness the black with white stripped wire will have a bullet connector and the soild balck wire will have a plug. this is for an open switch and your stock light/kill switch will still work, this way of wiring is better than the coil!
-
just watch out for spills because brake fluid is very corrosive and can eat paint and you skin!
-
hey where did you buy those granite fenders LOL, looks sweet wonder how blue and white would look! Kinda like shee-ouflage

I was going to put a +2 A-arms with a +2 swinger but my buddy has a outlaw and loves it just hates how wide it is on the trails so thought stock size would be better, could I get a set of front elka shock that would fit stock A-arms and than if I didnt like switch to +2 or would they no longer work? I have to get a rear shock no matter what, I looked for sets like front shocks and rear but could not find a complete set, so I take it I should get the stage 3 because of the piggy back and the adjustments? I do mostly trail ridding plan on going to silver lake dunes this year at least once, this is my first banshee build, I have never owned a sport quad more of a tree hauler type guy, But you can look at what I have done so far at http://s682.photobucket.com/albums/vv182/mattrentz_2009/Yamaha%20Banshee/

damn $2000 thats it for a 140mph banshee, only a 140mph in space! its sad when people try to take advantage people in this economy, some poor kid will buy this

I have a 1999 banshee with stock suspension and its setup for a little kid sags like a mother, anyways I thought about rebuilding the rear shock but I would like to just upgrade all around. starting with the front I want new elka shocks and after market A-arms stock size and a elka shock for the rear also, I mostly trail ride and am around 6'3'' 265lb so my question is What type of Elka shock remote or non? what brand of A-arm? where is the cheapest and best place to buy these?
