  1. He is a douchebag, but I've seen worse. I think this thread has been officially highjacked.
  2. Haha, I didn't even notice that. Someone's a comedian.
  3. Wow, not sure where your anger came from, but I like it. If this were a discussion about parting out a bike, you would be 100% correct. Aftermarket parts ALWAYS bring more money than stock parts. The OP was simply asking about which was a better deal. Hands down, one of the 2005 bikes is a MUCH better deal.
  4. If you've never been to glamis, it's a good idea if you're not with someone who knows the dunes. I've been going since I was about 6 months old. Glamis is big enough, especially on a banshee, you could run out of gas in the middle of the dunes and be screwed. Glamis is 40 miles long, by 6 miles wide. Most people dont realize the sheer mass of glamis, and underestimate it their first time out.
  5. If old gas tanks and used cool heads are worth 200 bucks a piece, I've been sitting on a gold mine!!
  6. Those lights are the only thing of value on that bike. Lol.
  7. If you need a GPS to navigate a place as small as LS, you need some serious help. It's only 1450 acres. Glamis is 172,000 acres. I have never once used a GPS...
  8. I would avoid that "88" at all costs. MANY things throw up a red flag to me. The seller doesn't even know how to spell "banshee". The first thing I noticed after looking at the picture is those plastics are most likely painted, and the paint won't last long with rocks, tree branches, etc. Second thing that jumped out at me is the front suspension. It has a-arms, meaning it is NOT a 1988 frame. Also, it's kind of hard to tell, but looks like t4 pipes. HARDLY "Race" pipes. It's obvious the owner knows very little about the bike he is trying to sell. With that being said, if this guy actually DID do all the work to the bike, I wouldn't trust the wiring he did for his DC conversion to run those lights. I like the red/white 2005. You really can't go wrong buying an all stock bike. At the very least, you know that someone didn't throw a bunch of aftermarket parts on the bike, and not properly jet it. If the choice was between one of those three bikes, I would choose the red/white 2005. That's a very good price for that bike, even though it is stock. I'd offer the guy 1800, spend $250-300 on a set of used pipes, and ride the shit out of it.
  9. The only difference between the 88 and 2005 is the front suspension setup, brake light, and minor wiring connectors. Essentially the same bikes. The newer style suspension is A-Arm, vs the 88's J-Arm. A-Arms are much easier to find aftermarket parts for. Do you have links to the ads of the bikes, so we can check them out and give you a better idea?
  10. Holy run-on sentences Cameron.
  11. Most people just use the calipers, brake lines, and master cylinder. The stock banshee one works alright, but the YFZ one holds more fluid.
  12. A lot of people don't even run those bottles. Mine was always bone dry. Pop the radiator cap off, make sure the rad is full, then empty that bottle. If it gets too full, you're going to have a hell if a mess to clean up.
  13. Sounds like you ended up getting a good deal. FYI, that bottle under the seat is supposed to be empty. Empty that thing back out. It's an overflow bottle. When the coolant expands when the bike gets hot it goes into that bottle, then sucks it back in when it cools down.
  14. Banshee's are inherently heavy bikes. The stock brake systems are often insufficient. A lot of people do the YFZ450 brake swap onto their banshee spindles, which seems to be a great improvement. Whatever you do, I've heard through the grapevine, don't buy RIS designs calipers. I'm not sure where I read it, though.
  15. I've always wondered how many people run two cycle marine oil. Power punch has been around for as long as I can remember. They were never big with anything other than marine applications, I thought. It makes sense, if you think about it. Some of these two stroke marine engines run at 6500+RPM for LONG periods of time. They better use some damn good oil!
  16. Stock front banshee shocks are 14.75" eye to eye. Rear shock is 13.63. So no, they won't work.
  17. I know, I wasn't suggesting buying from them, just trying to figure out what you were looking for.
  18. Something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/1-x-Small-Chromed-Radiator-Cap-COVER-Billet-Alloy-/150531021584?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item230c591b10
  19. Does fullbore even make a cover for that hole? Every bike I've seen with fullbores, that hole is open.
  20. Haha, this coming from the guy who got shut down by a sand slut in Waynoka, OK... There is no lower form of life... :rotflmao:
  21. Hang out in my camp at glamis. We're full of them... =)
  22. And you left out the best of all... 4. The wife/girlfriend who is perfectly happy hanging out around the motorhome or trailer all day, but also enjoys going for a few rides during the course of the trip. Doesn't drink and make a dumbass out of herself in front of everyone. They don't EVER bitch, or cause ANY problems. Always has breakfast/lunch/dinner done and ready on time. Drinks are always in the fridge, and she's always waiting in the trailer/motorhome at the end of the night to "service" her man. No arguments. THAT is the best bitch of all...
