  1. I wouldn't run that bike until you pull the carbs back off and clean everything... if something was lodged in the fuel line... odds are it's trapped in the carb somewhere. Also pull your fuel tank and clean it out.
  2. X2 on the timing. It's not likely a lean condition. If it was that lean, odds are there wouldn't be enough fuel in the cylinder to expel flames. I would pull the clutch cover and make sure your flywheel is tight... COULD be super rich... mixed with a timing problem.
  3. I agree. It sounds like you will be opening up a whole can of worms that you don't want to be getting into. Atleast try to sell the 400ex outright, and buy something with a little more info on the history.
  4. No offense bro, but that is a TINY heim to use for that purpose. I would atleast run an FK chromoly heim in there if you must run one that small. I don't see that heim lasting more than one ride without bending or snapping clean off. Those non-teflon heims are extremely weak... especially one that small. I wouldn't run anything smaller than a 5/8" (shank) x 1/2" (hole) on the arms...
  5. Check the reeds on the low side, also.
  6. Hm, no responses from the seller... Oh well...
  7. Typically a needle and seat are included in the rebuild kit, but also able to be purchased seperately. A lot of people just change out the needles, as the seats rarely go bad.
  8. I run this... simply because HONDA was smart enough to put a little spout on the bottle... Way to go Yamaha... It's not the cheapest, but I like it...
  9. I just tried to call toomey to ask them, but go no answer... I think they're closed. I would ASSUME that it wont, I tried googling for some pics, but everything I found had it installed with a stock grab bar. I am going to go out on a limb here and say no it wont fit. The lowest part of the AC Six Pack Rack is lower than the top of the silencers. The hush kit is higher than the top of the silencers. Hopefully someone can either confirm or correct me?
  10. You need new float needles and seats. The float needle is located underneath the float itself. If you disassembled it, odds are you had to remove the float needle. It is a brass needle with a rubber cone shaped tip. If you are replacing one, replace both of them. I would recommend NOT getting them from the dealer, as they will likely charge you $30+. PM ALF44, I believe he can get them very cheap. Good luck!
  11. Pics are ALWAYS recommended. 90% of people won't take the time to send you a message unless there is a pic in your thread.
  12. Next in line. PM sent also.
  13. The black widows are a very good shock. You might want to double check with Works, as I don't think they make a stock length for the banshee. The black widows were designed to be the competition to Elka's, or the Fox Clickers. Very comparable and a pretty sweet looking shock. Triple rate is a complete waste. On a shock this short, the third spring only has about a 1/2" of travel before the slide hits the slide stop, or the other slide. Go with a dual rate and you'll be set.
  14. Post some better pics... preferably of the bottom mount. It's definitely a retro-fit shock... it's not an aftermarket shock of any kind... They look to be 400ex shocks.
  15. There's quite a few members on here that run those kits. I haven't heard anything terrible about them, but also haven't heard anything great. Hopefully someone can chime in here and give you some feedback.
  16. Sure thing man! Another local! 4 of us just went to Dumont for the drags. It was a good time. Quite a few HQers out there.
  17. Typically a STOCK rear shock is a bit more labor intensive, and parts are a touch more expensive. The rebuild kit is about 50 bucks, and labor on those stock rear is $75. So about $125.00 total, shipped back to your door.
  18. Hence the reason I'll never buy anything from that clown.
  19. Holy shipping charges!!!
  20. Yeah, in CA you have to have either red or orange on the flag. I'm sure it's the same in many other states. Would it be possible to have a flag in a square shape? rather than the triangle? Maybe some with a "sleeve" hemmed on the "stick" side, so you can just slide it over the whip and glue it, rather than using the eyelets. Might look kinda odd zip tied to the stick using those eyelets.
  21. I just got done doing Eric's (Diskoe*1) Rear works. I've been doing shocks for the past 6 years. Started out building custom shocks for Bilstein, then built shocks for Off Road Warehouse in San Diego. I do work out of my house, so I charge much less than those guys. I guarantee my work also. I charge $65 for a rebuild/revalve per shock plus parts. Free shipping back, and I polish shocks before I send them back. Send a PM to Eric and I'm sure he'll vouch for my work. I have done 1000's of rebuilds/revalves on everything from Bicycle Fox shocks, to Bilstein Blackhawks. The before: and... After:
