i would start down 2 sizes.a bigger carb isnt going to see as strrong as a "signal" from the motor due to the simple fact theres going to be less velocity. So less air flow means smaller mains.thats just a condensed explanation.

How to properly use a 5mm long rod questions.
armyvet replied to Full Throttle 11F's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
gonna have to agree here.a lot of times it just depends what was all done on the cylinder. My last banshee had a 4mil crank with yamaha rd400 rods which are 115mm,this was a ol'skool build.Anyway i replaced it with a stock stroke /rod length crank and it still ripped imo.Now was it optimum who knows but it still ran good.maybe it wasnt ported for the stroker crank to begin with but who knows, whenever you buy used its a crapshoot what you might find once you tear into it.i think too many people take what they "hear" on the web as fact.Me i tend to believe what i see and not hear as my eyes will never deceive me. -
yes even the stock yfz450 tires grab pretty good but with them being a soft compound they dont waer too well on a high hp machine.ok for woods and track but definately stay out of the slag pits wit'em

for all around riding its hard to beat the holeshot gncc's,i like the itp mudlites too for the mud and the fall for when leaves come down.Im sure most of the real riders, not the guys that play in the dunes where real obstacles dont exit. will have some input on tire selection but those work for me here in the east...lol

no way moose parts are too expensive, parts unlimited are a joke.Yes ebay is a good place and a lot cheaper to buy things than your local shop,o ring chain off evilbay,as low as $35, o ring chain from local shop $100!

what parts from other quads will fit a banshee

400ex hubs fit banshee? -
a lot if not most sleds that arent fuel injected use a different slide number than motorcycle/atv applications.sleds work in cooler temps, but surely they can be rejetted

how come chariot doesnt sell outside of ebay?well the ebay link is all i get when looking for them.i like being able to order direct, kinda like i have been doing since the dennis kirk days in high school...lol

hell yeah for $400,i would take it,got too many toys now but whats 1 more?wife couldnt tell the difference anyhow..lol

i agree service and support is everything after the sale, anybody can find a good deal on anything if they wait or look hard enough.Theres nothing worse than buying something from a seller and they have no clue what they are selling.

Carb selection for a 2 to 1 intake manifold
armyvet replied to ndaphne's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
i had the 35mm pwk on my single set up a couple yrs back.I remember running a cel needle and the eek needle as well trying to get it dialed in.48pilot and i think a 185 main or so.it ripped once its dialed in so hang in there! -
i think most people would like a properly tuned single carb set up for woods or general play riding. But if a guy that has never ran one says they suck and you loose too much top end, people that dont know any better tend to eat up the hype.Same with the 2 into 1 pipe.It works depends on your application. So unless you plan on communicating with whales youll still have plenty of topend, dont believe the hype.

yeah i liked when it was free.Everybody wants something for nothing...can u blame us..lol
-
It might sound like a stupid question but whats your current gearing? Some yoyo might have a 16/37 set up on there wIth a stock motor and 22in rears.
-
i had the trinity 2 into 1 with a 35pwk on my last banshee and it ripped>It took some fiddling to get it dialed in but 1 carb is easier to tune.Got 2 carbs on my current banshee but i dont really see a negative with the single carb unless youre an all out drag racer which most people arent. Its funny everybody gives the 2 into 1 intakes a bad name but i cant seem to find one used...hmmm thats funny.
-
i usually dont give too many props to people as i have confidence in the way io do things but i will say i have learned a few tips from Mac...he knows his stuff>In todays age with everybody and their momma claiming to be "engine experts" hes the real mccoy.

if u can weld put a tack on it,a lot of these guys think this is brain surgery.Yopu arent building a 16000rpm indy motor...but thats my 2cents.If your gonna send it to a pro then you may as well let a pro ride it for you too..lol

How do you talk two stroke/banshee?
armyvet replied to Yamahabansheebros's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
start learning the basics, such as carbs jetting pipes etc.Unless you have a gang of cash dont worry about 7mil 10 mil etc worry aboutstock motors until you get familiar with them.I have tinkered with them onm and off since 89 or so and im still learning.. -
im sure companies dont make pistons to just break for no apparent reason. Its not like nobody has ever threw a rod with a wiseco piston on it.Never had a problem with the wsms pistons from TDR.They have been in business longer than most of these so called "banshee experts" i would think they know what they are doing..

the weight of the tire wont really change too much with rim size especially with that tire design. If you go with a 8in rim the tire will have a taller side wall.22s look huge on sportquads. But whatever works for you.You might want to add a tooth on the rear if you go to a 22,will be harder on clutch especially slow going through bush
-
im all for doing stuff yourself but ONLY after you have a basic understanding of how porting works. Its not exactly rocket science or a "secret" black art like some will lead you to believe but not knowing what your doing can turn a good cylinder into a paper weight..lol But then again i had a old boss tell me"people that have never f@#ked up have never done anything" so.... i say leave certain things to the pros cuz i know my limits
-
how is your compression?you may be lean on the pilot.verify plugs wires and stuff is in good condition.shouldnt take 50 kicks to get running, obviously somethiong is amiss.could have worn top/bottomend
-
just remember though, when climbing the key is stay committed once you commit to a hill>Backing off then debating or not if you should go for it is a no no.Whiskey throttle will get you in tyrouble.Make sure you have a could line and let her rip>some hills you have to use throttle control but it will come with experience. You wont make 'em all the time so dont despair.Around these parts we look for stuff to climb, sometimes they are virgin hills when we see them..lol

too much cylinder bore wear can wreck any piston.i have used namura b4 in the past with good results. But then again im not racin.Regardless of product, installation is everything.Wisecos are good choices but i have been in binds b4 as well where what i want and what my finances will allow are different things..lol it happens
