my current build is going to be a stock bottom end, jugs ported by herr jugs racing, wiseco forged aluminum pistons, boysen reeds, rad valve cages, t5 pipes. shaved stock head. chriot timing plate with plus 6 timing. and i just picked up a locked up bottom end, these carbs, tag bars, and some front wheels with good tires for 230 bucks. i figure i'll save up some money and do a 4mill build next. or maybe even 10 i'm hoping these carbs will make a good addition to my build... i dunno where jetting will be with these though, it was goin to be around 240 with the stock carbs. i suppose.

yea it's a round housing, people i have talked to said it's a +2 lonestar swingarm. i just didn't feel like taking it apart and looking for bearings, wanted to get the bearings and do it all at once, i just pulled the front end apart and have to put bearings in up there too.

mine was a pain to get off, but i went and got a good puller from auto one and put it on there "the bigone with 3 claws" and put a impact on it, i had to loosesn and re tighten a few times but finally it popped, when it did it sounded like a fire cracker. if you had a puller likethe one i have, you wouldn't be bottoming the threads out .

x_doug_x replied to WhiteBanshee2006's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
someone already asked this, are you sure your choke tube is on, the black hose that goes from one carb to the other? -

not sure exactly, just a full port job. for t5's told him i want it for trails and to run pretty good at drag strip when i bring it there. he didn't give me a specific port. the cylinders are fine "i think" no scraps, the piston just has nicks on the top

so i just put a fresh top end in about 2 weeks ago. after tuning tuning tuning and changing the reeds i had it perfect, but of course i wanted it faster. so i called kevin at herr and talked about getting my jugs ported sounded like a good deal, i pulled the cylinders off today to find that the right piston was all nicked up and so was the cylinder head. something got in there between piston and head and was beating around, it even nicked the side of the piston where the ports are in it. i shook the pipe to see if anything was in it, nothing. i checked the reeds all had the screws still in them. i stuck a magnet in the bottom end around crank and didn'tfind anything. i can't find whatever it was that caused this to happen, my clinders are not nicked they have up and down lines in them but i put my finger nail and can't feel any indentions. with about 45 minutes ride time, the cylinders still have hone marks as well from where they were just honed. i'm prob. going to get them honed again and put new pistons in. do you think the cylinder head will be ok? or am i going to lose compression, also i can't find waht caused this, do you think it will cause problems later if it fell in the bottom end? if it did the magnets not picking it up.

wow, things could have got real bad.

1988 mustang gt f/s 4000 obo or may trade for banshee
x_doug_x replied to WVredneck15's topic in Swap and Trade
is the car 5spd or auto? i'm in tn. you'd have to arrange delivery and pick up the banshee, but i'd prob. do my banshee and 2000 if it's in good shape, looks like it. my banshee is just rebuilt maybe a hour run time on new top end. if even that. -
i'm kinda glad someone started this topic, i decided to get royal purple gear oil it was 16 bucks for a bottle.... when i first got on my banshee the clutch plates were locked up from sitting, i rev'd it and put it in gear and they broke loose. i took it out and the clutches have slipped since i rebuilt the motor.. i never rode it before hand. coudl the royal purpel synthetic gear oil cause the clutches to slip?
-
umm, to the o/p i think you are a little off, you can't possibly be geared low enough to miss a complete gear. i trap 65-67 with the clutch slipping in 3rd 4th and 5th with 6 left after i cross the 8th. whatever the last gear is was still left after the 8th

help with start point jetting for new build
x_doug_x replied to U-LOSE's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
320 may be a little lean for you. i'm running 320s in my bike as mains and 30s as pilots,, it's not running very rich and it'sbasically stock. it has a newrebuilt top end i put in, t5pipes/silencers and the airbox removed. filters on back of carbs. that's it and i'm 800 feet above sea level, i'd at least start with 350sand go from there.
