  3. i run Klaw XC 6plys and i like them. 20x11-8's. The only sand i ever see is just a patch here and there on the trails. All my riding is trail so i went with an 8 inch rim size for a little more sidewall give than the stock 9. I have no basis for comparison though cause i have never used any other tire.

    yeah, some pretty sketchy judging for sure. i personally thought Shogun won as well, but i cant believe that not even 1 judge would give Shogun the nod...unanimous? Holy fuck! Even the Velasquez fight was strange. I was sure the ref was going to end it in the first but Rothwell did get back to his feet so the ref let it go. Then, although Rothwell was taking some huge bombs from Cain right at the end, he did fight his way back up to his feet. I was surprised the ref stopped it there after not stopping it in the first round. Velasquez was going to win regardless but it just seemed a little weird. Johnson is going to be a legitimate contender at welterweight but to miss his cut by over 5 pounds.....well, he wasn't even trying to make weight if you ask me. Yep, glad i didnt pay for that card also......
  7. they are shaped like DG's but i think all the DG silencers had the logo pressed into the metal casing. Could be wrong about that tho too, i just know that my old DG's had the pressed logo.
  8. i was going to use the banshee spindles when i did my swap, but after looking at some pics i noticed a huge difference in the geometry of the front end between banshee spindles and yfz spindles. With the banshee spindles your lower arms will be almost parallel to the ground (with a 16 1/2 or longer shock). With the LTR shocks, using the 450 spindles i was able to regain alot closer geometry to what the entirely stock setup offered, with a ton more travel. just compare my sig photos with one where the banshee spindles are being used and you'll see what i mean. with my stock front end i was also running 1.5 inch rim spacers on the front and as compared with the 450 setup, i got rid of the spacers and i'm still runnning wider by about 3 or 4 inches...with stock front rims. like chris, i'm thinking of matching my front rims up to my rear ITPs because the offset of my rear rims makes me way wider than stock...which is good for my type of terrain.

  11. drewski, i'm curious as to which spindles you used for your swap? it looks like you used the yfz450 shocks? your arms are way more parallel to the ground than mine are. bbc, i used the ltr450 shocks as well. i had to reverse the upper arms and use spacers at the shock mounts but even though its close, i do have enough clearance between the arms and the coils. like 03bansheele, i love my new setup, it eats up everything i have thrown at it. there are some pics of my shee after the swap posted on the first page of this thread. i wondering if using the 450 spindles compared to the banshee spindles makes a big difference as well. thats why i'm asking which spindles drewski used, because his front end and my front end appear to sit way differently.....
  12. not sure of the stock banshee tie rod length quikshee, what i can tell you is the that the tie rods (not including the ends) need to measure 13 5/8 inches to work on the 450 arms and spindles. i got the 450 tie rods when i bought the box full of parts, and they were too short as well and needed to be extended.
  13. holy shit bro, Egypt you say, welcome to the site. Simply by considering your location, its pretty hard to compare $$$$$$. What might seem expensive in the US could be cheap for you just by terms of availability. even here in Canada, right next door to the US, its alot harder to find the same kinds of deals that the US guys can find. you bought it, its yours....the obsession begins

Ok guys, as requested, here are a few more of the photos. this one shows the ltr length at 16.5 inches. measure is taken with the shock installed, but no rider or weight on the bike Valin, i did use the bushings also. here are some pics of the lower arms after installation. lower right side lower left side my skid plate at the front is about 12 inches off the ground, without rider weight. dont let the photo fool you, the skid is about an inch away from touching the bottom of the frame so there is definitely 12 inches there. as for the shocks, i've gotta say that $350 for the Elkas is a great deal for a high quality product. my ltr shocks ran me $260 CDN (shipped), which i thought was a great deal. my front wheelbase (after i re-alignined after taking these photos) is about 46.5 inches
  15. i'll get some pics up for you guys tomorrow night...some of the finished job and few of the installation and the minor mods you'll have to do. the upper arms are a natural fit, but the lower arm mounts need to be cut approximately 1/4 inch and the pics will show you where. i was also able to get the front brake lines off the 450 and put them on too because they are a more natural fit. the banshee lines get extended pretty tight but still definitely work. i just managed to get all of the stock parts that were replaced with aftermarket. at the splitter on the front brake line, i was able to block off a line and just reroute the remaining one to the brake line fitting under the rad. the photos will show what i mean a few pics here this is the blocked line at the splitter i eliminated the line on the right in the photo and just bent the left one to suit the new front line which is dry fit in this picture this one shows how you have to cut the lower arms to fit the mounts. i used some custom fabbed spacers but you can just use washers if you want
  16. the spindle question is quite a can of worms around here. some guys do it and claim no problems, other guys swear it'll burn out ball joints due to stress and overextension. i used the full 450 setup; arms, spindles, hubs, calipres, tie rods and brake lines (rotors are the same) so i cant give you any first hand experience with banshee spindles. my ride height is about 14 inches i'm guessing but i'll measure when i'm out at the farm tomorrow. i'll also get you a front tire width measurement as well. the old setup with 1.5 inch rim spacers sat at 44.5 inches wide i believe. your tie rods (without the ends) should be 13 5/8 inch long or slightly better. with my setup, the tires do lean slightly inward at the top but there's no way to adjust it (customizing the arms with adjustable ball joints would fix that) and the ltr coils are close, and i mean close, to the rear of the upper arm but they have never made contact. using the 450 spindles, i had to swap the upper arms.....right arm to left side, left arm to right side. it may be different if you choose to use banshee spindles. lots of guys have done this mod, so i'm sure more will add their $.02 yet.
  17. i'm not trying to say they're better, but suzuki ltr450 shocks work also. they are about 17.5 inches eye to eye. the rezzies are vertical to the shock so you have to point them forward, unless maybe they'll clear some inframe pipes? you have to use spacers to fill the shock mounts, but i'm not sure about the yfz450s or the elkas. how much of the front end were you able to get? again, i'm not trying to tell you they're the best available, but they are certainly an option and they come in red and white for sure. I finished my swap a few weeks ago and have about 10 hours of trails on the new front end (with some big air!)and i am very happy with it overall. No comparison at all to stock handling. i have some photos of my swap as well. if you're interested in seeing them so you know what your up against, let me know.
  18. the top of the needle has five notches notches in it, each notch being a setting. the needle clip snaps into one notch, thereby setting your needle at that specific height. always have each of your carb needles set to the same notch. the higher up on the needle the clip is, the leaner your needle is set. the lower the needle clip is, the richer your needle is set. third clip is the middle position. hope that helps...

  20. i just recently finished my swap using ltr450 shocks and they are close really to the rear of the arm. you can see it in the pic. i had to reverse my upper arms, there was absolutely no way they would work otherwise. also, i'm sure you guys thought of this too, but i'll throw it out there anyways for the readers who want to know as much about the swap as they can before trying it, if you're using the ltr shocks (i can't speak for the yfz450 shocks cause i dont know how wide they are in comparison to the frame mount width) make sure you put all of your spacers between the shock and the rear of the mounting bracket i didnt have the spacers in place for these photos, but you can still see the orientation i'm referring to. use the spacers behind the shocks to push their placement as far forward as possible. when supported on blocks and with all the play out of the front end there is about 1/8th inch clearance, but as soon as the weight is on the bike and the suspension is compressed a little, i get about 1/4 inch. its close, but its never made contact during riding yet...and i've tested her out hard because it was a concern i wanted to address. i read another post where the guy had the same complaints of his steering after the swap. he said it felt really heavy and slow. i'm really happy with how my shee handles now. i do need to make a final adjustment to the tie rods but all in all, everythings good and there is absolutely no way i'd go back to stock.
  21. for sure its a good mod. not sure which shocks you're using drewski but i'm using ltr450's and i am super happy. i'm a trail rider, not a duner, and this new setup eats it up and can handle the landings from some hang time as well. the quad runs better because it handles better. the only concern i had was how close the coil was to the rear of the upper arm but they have never made contact yet. if you're on a tighter budget but want all around better handling and suspension, consider this swap.

  23. i've seen a few more threads related to the conversion so just to follow up, the ride and suspension is 10 times better than stock. i did the entire 450 front end (arms, spindles, hubs, calipers, and brake lines with ltr450 shocks). just got out on saturday for my first real ride after finishing the conversion and i have no regrets. it handles way better, and therefore performs way better as well. for anybody considering it, i would say go for it. if you do some homework and shop your parts out, its fairly cheap. 2003unlimited sells some kickass spacers for the lower arms that look awesome and perform well. there isnt much clearance between the shock and the rear of the upper arm, but it does clear. the dual piston front brakes make a huge difference as well. i also managed to get a steel braided rear brake line as well with all the parts so it went on too. i'll take some pics and post them up so you guys who are considering it can see what the finished product looks like.
