ok, I have read the jetting faq 5 times, even printed it out and sitting on my work bench. played with the bike the other night and couldnt get it to idle right. Im still breaking in a new top end so i didnt play with it to much or rev the dog snot out of it.
heres the run down. bike ran great last season (stock motor, t-5s, uni filter, chopped air box lid, toomey jet kit) bike has 25 pilots and 290 mains now, and 450 feet above sea level.
over the winter redid the topend vito power pistons .020 over, cut head .030, lightened flywheel(thanks boonman), ported reed cages myself with stock reeds and cleaned up the jugs(I mean clean up too, no material removal, just polished the exhaust port and intake from casting marks and flaws).
bike starts up fine, but when i blip(1/8 throttle) the throttle it high idles and wont stop until I touch the gas again then it will idle down. I gave it half choke and it stops high idling but you can tell its a little to rich at half choke(doesnt rev clean and blows smoke) also when i rev the bike(1/4 to 1/2 throttle) it wants to stall when the rpms come down and I have to give it a little gas again to keep it from stalling. I sprayed all the parts intersections with WD so i dont think there are any air leaks.
so in conclusion from reading the jetting faq I am going up one size on the pilot to a 27.5 and raising the needle one clip and leaving the main alone as I believe the high idling is from it being to lean. I know I have to fittle with it as all bikes are different but I thought I would post this and see what you guys think? Opinions and constructive critisizms are welcome. Tell me what you think as I want to order some jets from magic racing to get it tuned in correctly, but figued I would post this first to see what size jets I need to put on the order list.
Thanks in advance guys as I know the jetting questions can get quite fustrating with all the jetting posts we get. I figured what the hell though, everybody else and there grandmother asks about jetting so why shouldnt I.
