  2. i would say that youre rich. did you do a WOT plug check when you said the plugs looked rich at 240 mains? 240 shouldnt be rich with your mods. like shogs said, i think 260's would prolly be good, but id start at 280 and work your way down. 300ish would be close if you had no airbox.

  4. like lokisbuddy and 2001Stroker said, i dont think the fins on the brake cyl do too much for heat dissipation and looks 1000% better without them. i dont use rear brakes that much anyway. good job. :thumbsup:

  10. are you pulling the choke out while its running? if it starts up without needing to be choked, it may be rich. i always have to choke mine to get it to start.

  12. sounds like the stator dude. a ground fault would make the current go thru the roof but the voltage would remain the same.
  13. i never said that you were DEFINATELY lean. i said that you should check your plugs to be sure because you had a shadetree mechanic based on what yoyve said about him before. and as far as mods vs mods, the only thing that i have different (that affects jetting) is the reeds. and it was 72 degrees here today. just because we dont wear turbines on our heads doesnt mean its not here you know. :biggrin:

  17. i tore mine down to the frame and had it painted when i rebuilt mine. it had crappy spray paint on it from the previous owner tho.
  18. what do the plugs look like? are they fouled.
  19. id tap into a hot wire first. then if it gives you problems, try the 9v. no to use a battery if you dont need to. jmo
  20. i powered mine from the hot wire going to the headlight switch. works fine. i have heard of some people having problems with the unit cutting off with high rpms when running off the stator. most of them switched to the br8es plugs and it solved the prob tho. i run b8es's with no probs tho.
  21. like DallasGDub and i said, you dont have to a plug chop, just put new plugs in after its warmed up and run it wot and pull em immediately and inspect. you post about 1 million times a day asking questions about that piece of junk but when anybody tries to help, you act like you know it all. either inspect the plugs to see if youre lean or chance it with locking it up. based on what youve said in previous threads your mechanic is a clown anyway so trust him if you want to. the hq prolly has more combined knowledge of shees than all those pigmy japs that designed it so i think all your needed info is on here.
  22. i have the maier fake cf radiator cover and gas tank cover but the rest of the plastic is maier also. i dont see any reason why you cant put them on stock fenders tho. one word of advise tho. the grill mounts differently on the maier rad cover. it will be kinda hard to put an aftermarket grill in it. there arent too many choices of grills for maier covers. jd (87sheerips on the hq) can make you a custom grill to fit. im thinking of going this route or trying to mod one from ebay.
  23. yes the plugs are black, but did you put them in and do a wot plug test with the bike already warmed up? or did you idle and lug it around a bit and let it heat up with the plugs already in?
