  1. If you do part it out, I need the right-hand powervalve cap. It's just the little cover on the right side that has a bronze bushing in it where the powervalve itself rotates. Let me know...
  2. Good to hear from you Sredish!! Sounds like you had a rough weekend but hopefully you'll be feeling better soon. It'll make a great story to tell your kids, heh. A bit of advice for your next dune trip; the closer it gets to high noon the harder it is to read the terrain. Without shadows the uniform color of sand all blends together for a near "white out" condition. Plus it's usually hotter in the middle of the day so alot of times early morning and late evening are the best times to go out, and as others have said taking it easy at first to get an idea of what's where helps alot too. Yes, I've done the same thing but not nearly as bad as yours, that must have been one hell of an impact. Glad to hear you're OK and hopefully will be riding again soon. Oh yeah, tell Stacey thanks for posting, and hope if nothing else she knows you're not the only crazy one, and she's not the only wife that has to deal with it. She may never approve of ridin', but she just might gain a little understanding. Take it easy.
  3. Avoidable? Possibly, but if one of us were killed on the highway on the way to the dunes, would you still resent our Banshee? My point is we all take risks in life, even walking across the street or taking a shower (as I'm sure we've all seen statistics), I guess to some of us that adrenaline rush reminds us that we're alive and, within reason, flirt with disaster. Nope. I got a flattrack race tonight, and I'll give it 110%, but at the same time I hope I come home in one piece...

How was the whole race?! Any pics? Nice track? I want to get over there but it's a long way for me, hope the turnout improves...
  5. Never heard of it being done, and I damn sure wouldn't do it on mine. The thought of that seemingly insignificant weight difference moving that fast at 9000+ RPM just has too much potential for catastrophic failure... Besides, why take the chance when you're gonna reach the limit on the other cylinder eventually anyway.
  6. Thanks wife of sredish for taking the time to post. I'm sure he'll feel a little better knowing that he's got friends here thinking about him and hoping he recovers soon. Tell him we're all looking forward to hearing from him, and he's riding again. I've often wondered if my wife would post here if I were hurt/killed while riding... There are some extremely insightful posts in this thread, yours included. I understand how you feel about our...hobby (feel free to insert "addiction", "vice", or "flaw" as you see fit). My wife shares your viewpoint. The fact that you have enough respect for it to post here speaks volumes for your character, you have my admiration, as does sredish for having such an understanding spouse. On the other side of the coin, Bigairee's post couldn't have said it better. I too believe that our days are numbered, and NOBODY outruns the grim reaper. Might as well make the most of it while we're here, doing what we enjoy. There's certainly worse things we could be doing, so maybe from this thread you can gain a little appreciation for all the good things that go with riding; good friends, helping out others (some complete strangers), learning your limits, and yes even shooting the shit to pass the time. Take care and keep us posted.
  7. You go girls!! That is pretty damn impressive, wrecked on the first lap and still won.
  8. Only thing I've lost is the damn garage door opener remote, went back and never did find it
  9. Recognize tha pimpification!! Funk Master Ben Sneed Papa Ben Flash Bishop Don Ben Slither
  10. Got mine back around mid-January, one TT & two desert races later, along with Roostfest and it's still working perfectly. I shoulda had you do it two years ago. Hopefully you were able to do something with the worn-out extra I sent. Thanks again, excellent work!!!
  11. ROFL cb67rs1!!! They sound like nasty buggers. Dunedemon I saw that too, looks like they had one of those cardboard box deathmatches cb was talkin' about. Combattalon2, that link was pretty damn funny, the mating part might explain why they're pissed off all the time...
  12. I need the right-hand powervalve cap for an RZ350, just the little external cap with bronze bushing that the powervalve rotates in. Anybody got one layin' around? The Yamaha part number is: 1UA-1131E-00-00 ...and Ronnie's wants $42.99 plus freight for it.
  13. I've always stuck with NGK BR8ES and never had a problem. Last I heard Splitfire was a gimmick, although the link someone posted a while back about cutting the ground strap might hold some water...
  14. It's a hoax, they don't eat camels. They are the same ugly arachnids that inhabit the desert Southwest, although I've never seen them that big (5" across).
  15. Probably not, since it's just heat. I always unplug my CDI when I'm welding on the frame, just in case. You check the stator yet? At the 4-wire plug you should have: Charging coil should be 13.7-20.5 Ohms (red to green wire) Pick up coil should be 94-140 Ohms (white/red to white/green wire) I've had both go out on my '96, but haven't had any probs with the coil, other than one of the connectors getting loose but nothing a pair of pliers couldn't fix.
  16. Got mine from Napa, a 3011BP for $3.50 with hose clamps.
  17. I'm anxious to see it, not because I want one but just to see more competitive factory rides. And I wouldn't count Suzy out just yet, look what Gust has done on the "little" Z400 (with the help of team Suzuki & Yoshimura): FIVE straight GNC MX wins...
  18. Coalfest is scheduled for June 4th-6th. I think just the design that you have with "Coalfest" and "2004" on the front is perfect, along with "Bansheehq.com" in old english font across the shoulders (big across the shoulders and top of the sleeves). If you don't get near enough confirmed orders by like Monday, I'll start another thread and see what I can do. Someone might be willing to purchase the difference and sell 'em for like $20 at Coalfest to those that didn't preorder (I'd step up but still not sure if I'll make it--I STILL WANT A SHIRT THO!). Thanks Yamahammer, I'll send an email asap.
  19. Yamahammer, how many orders do you have so far? I count 26 adult shirts in this thread, and another 8 if you do kids sizes. I think the front design with your Banshee is perfect, especially if that's what it takes to look good on the actual shirt (yes it would be nice to use Meat's Banshee but not if it won't print well). Let us know how many orders you need!!!!
  20. Damn, remind me not to drive in Portugal. Crazy.
  21. Abyss, you mean a "funeral with better music?" Meat, give us the report if you go!!
  22. That really blows, what a spineless sack of shit.
  23. Yes you can find half links, and I have run them, BUT nobody (including me) would recommend it on a Banshee. I don't think any of the manufacturers offer them for drive chains (DID, RK, Tsubaki, etc.) but a couple make them for 520 chain in other applications. The ones I've seen had cheap side plates as Stan said, and the pin is brittle (and held in place with a itty bitty cotter pin). Mullet Boy's option is probably the best, or going with a smaller rear sprocket for a while until the chain stretches a little. I know it sucks when you want to run a certain gearing (or have to) and you can't but that's the way it goes sometimes...
  24. Dammit Meat your timing sucks. I'll have an almost complete Banshee electrical system with a Dyna CDI and Ricky Stator stock output stator for ya in a couple months, but I gotta get the RZ together and running first (I'm keeping the coil but will likely fab a new harness, so everything but the coil). I'm shooting for July to teardown & reassemble, and August to breakin and work out the bugs. BTW if your ground wire broke in one spot it may not be the only place, hope you find the problem relatively painlessly. Have fun with the topend job, shee will thank you for it...
  25. LOL! Nice landing craft! Even without the photoshopped water that is one hell of a load on those trucks, at least three or four camels worth.
