  1. if you want a little trick I found that seemed to help....drill a small hole in the slide toward the top in a manner so that moves with the throttle and gets blocked by the top of the carb at 1/4 throttle or at what point you want it to stop being lean.... Start real small on the hole... My old cr500 would not idle without a hole in the slide to give it more air at idle.....
  2. I have played with the slides a ton....they are at best a "super fine tuning option" not a big change at all! Ive gone as far as mahining the piss out of the slide and it has only a litte effect......that was with gasoline...alcahol will be even worste....I do not think you should waste your money...maybe someone else could chime in that has played with the slides a bunch!
  3. Ok, It was rich at idle.... ive gone down from 60 pilots and now at 45 pilots. Seems to run a bit better with these pilot jets. Warmed it up, adjust the mixture screws to get the highest rpms....Still seems like the screws are out a bit to far at almost 3 turns. After adjustment I put new plugs in it....ran it for 10 minutes at idle only....The plugs looked perfect..... Rode it...still has a studder at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle..... it did not seem to fix that...... I put a larger diameter needle in and it seemed to clear up 80% of the studder... It almost seems a bit lean now....because i get a little booowwwaaahhhhhhh now and its not as snappy..... but when I pull the plugs they are black again.... What should I do now? How do I get that needle tuned in properly? I was at a DEG needle and went to a DEL Needle...(about 3 needles leaner in the 1/8 to 1/4 throttle...) I think I can try some smaller pilots still..... do they have them in the 30's? what about the main jets being to large? Im running 172 right now. Other seem to run 148 mains...this is on a 535.......If my mains are so large maybe its effecting the pilot circuit more than normal?
  4. exactly.....my idle screws are in way to much as well.....that was a sign that its very rich as well. Just ordered some jets and a sync tool from fast...... nice folks there.....great sync tool....looks slick...
  5. ive never tried staring it without the choke cold....Ill do that...usually starts first kick cold with choke... hot it starts 3 kicks 1/4 throttle...... ill try that... thanks
  6. Still working on a off idle studder....... I keep going down on pilot jets. It will idle ok for a minute then slowly want to die. My air screws are 3 turns out to max the rpm.... I had larger jets in it and thought it was running better but I really think its super important to get the bike very hot before doing the idle...I think I was getting close with the pilot jets but when it got real wamrned up it ran diffrent seems to make sense. If i put the choke on it runs a bit worste..... So you think im getting closer by lowering the pilot jets more....Im at a 52 right now.... 38mm PWK carbs on a 535 Thanks!
  7. seems sensiable to me........I have 38mm kehins....... ill try the clip just to see what it does.... I was planning on smaller pilots...then moving the needle to a richer clip position untill I get it to stutter a bit at 1/2 throttle then back it down some(just so its rich safe).... I have not beat on the bike yet really....Its broken in now and ready for a floggin.... Thanks
  8. I never knew how important it was to fully warm a two stroke..... I get on my other two stroke and warm it up on the road....Big mistake! This bike almost cold sized the other day because I did not warm it up! I could feel it getting very thight...Pulled the clutch and coasted... started it and idled it for a while, blipping the throttle a bit and it was fine... Ok, yes, i got it up to full operating temp....set idle at 1500 rpms. turned both screws out until i got the highest rpm(about 2k) at 3 turns out it stopped increasing the rpm... So i figure to get it back down to 1.5 turns ill need the next pilot jets down..."55".... It does not rev super clean still down low... just does not have that response i think it should have. After I put the 55 pilots in and I still have the stutter like in the video should I move the needle clip up one notch to lean it out a tad or change the needle diameter? Does the needle clip position really make a big diffrence at idle/off idle?? Im just figuring that since my stutter is at idle to 1/8 throttle the needle diameter would be a better bet? Im not thinking the needle clip will effect the off idle performance as there is no taper on the needle at that part of the throttle setting... what do you think?
  9. It about 3 turns out now.....beyond the 3 turns it does not seem to make any diffrence....Im waiting for some 55 pilot jets(currently have 58) to come in.... to center the air screw more.... just figured the needle might lean the pilot circuit a bit as well....
  10. LOL, thats not me or my bike....just a video from youtube....My bike does that same little sputter at 1/8-1/4 throttle....just seems like a rich sputter....to clean that little sputter up....what do you think....smaller pilot or change needle diameter just a tad larger? it's real close...just trying to perfect it... I do notice it in nutral as well....It is not super crisp if snaping the throttle open at very low rpms...
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbMhqryDcyQ checkout this banshee video.....how does it sound like its running? Is it a bit rich down low?
  12. Dont go to sudco...they make you buy packs of 4!!!
  13. You have changed the pilot jet alot......Did you set the air screws correctly? Make it idle at 1200-2000rpm...keep turning one idle screw at a time until you get the highest idle on each carb. If they are both out 2.5 turns or more go to the next smallest pilot jet and redo the test. Keep doing that until you are about 1.5 turns out on both screws... I was swaping pilots in and out high and low...Finally just adjusted the air screw and now I know I need one size smaller pilot.... From there I will tune the midrange needle clip stuff while im still breaking in the engine....Last will be the main... Hope it helps??? You are running race gas correct? I would get that idle perfect first...... so you dont foul plugs. Define "no low end power" does is just sputter or is it boggy?
  14. Went back to the 58 pilot jet....Let the bike warm up this time........adjusted the idle to 2k.... then adjusted the air screw....The happy setting is about 2-1/2 turns out. At what point will the air screw stop letting more air in? 2-3-4 turns????? seems to run fine...a little sputtering at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle.....Should I raise needle clip position one to try and reduce the sputtering? Am I on the right track?
  15. was out tuning....was coasting down a long hill and it seemed like it was starting to get very tight.....Pulled the clutch and coasted. Started it back up after a few minutes as I was only a little bit from home..... Guess my pilot jet being to small could cause that? im running 40:1 ratio....
  16. I have pwk carbs got "deg" needles in there now......... trying "del" needles tommorow... Maybe im being to critical? I see other video's online for banshee's and they seem to be burbbling at 1/8" -1/4 throttle.....
  17. You only charged my buddy $60 for shipping.... now it's $70...
  18. Well its running....Seems fine when on the pipe..... at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle its very choppy.... vibrates and seems unhappy. It has the following 535 150 psi compression +5 timing big bore pipes with silencers 38mm kehin carbs 172 mains 58 pilots few hunderd feet from sea level 70 degrees had 58 pilots....thought it was a bit rich...changed to 52 pilots....Did not help....maybe seems a bit lean at 1/8-1/4...... Are people running more than 58's on these engines? Ill put some 60's in and see what happens. It does not rev clean down low......revs rough until it gets to higher rpms(4k) or higher throttle opening until it runs smooth... Does everyones run crapy just off idle....super crisp from idle to 1/4 throttle?? Thanks for the help!
  19. Update: Went on its mainden voyage today.... OMG....thats just crazy.... at not quite 1/2 thottle and only reving to 5-6k the bike just plane rips.... I just keep laughing.... at about 5k you feel the power valves open and it's tubro time! I have had a bunch of bikes, this is much faster than a 600 gixer....I cant wait to race some freinds There is what feels like burbling at idle/off idle....I thru the wideband o2 sensor on and it looks like it running rich...about 13.5:1 at idle/part throttle...Im going to put some smaller pilot jets in. Gonna mount the camera tonight....try and get a video....remember, im still breaking it in so im not going over 1/2 throttle or too high of revs stay tuned!
  20. 17 degrees is the base timing...total will be about 28 I did get the camera mount....Registering the bike friday so I can get it street bound ....
  21. the powdercoat is baked on at 200 degrees or so....I think the pipes will look like ass real quick.... use what you have!
  22. trinity power valve cyl's..... yes it seems to be getting better....less smoke, etc the more it runs.... It just suprised me....I thought it was all sealed up inside....thought it was purely an air vent for the rubber diaphram inside...Obviouly there is no diaphram LOL... Thanks!
  23. still tuning it but i do have the camer mount on order I will do a video once its on the road.....
  24. Swap the plug wires.....see if the problem follows the plug wire.....
  25. I have 2.36 primary gears..........16 tooth in the front and 41 in the rear....should be just fine on the top end I like the suzuki sitckers so the cops do not get confused....When they run the plate it comes up as suzuki....that way they will not wonder whats up.... maybe the sheezuki would look better on the tank like someone posted...thought that was pretty good! Well i drove it today finally...tranny and clutch seem pefect....just wanted to make sure it shifted though the gears up and down... gets on the pipe quick.... a little grummbly down low but i have not checked my timing yet.....super smooth!!! I thought it might be a bit lumpy due to the large stroke..... I think its perfect.... keep you all posted!
