  1. Could be that the bike warms up more and runs a bit richer ...You might want to fatten up the main one step and back the timing a tad and see if you hear any... Im kinda in the same boat....Was pinging...at 6K WOT.... Im using race gas now 110....It sure loves the gas but very expensive.... Did make the ping go away...Ill need to turn the timing down around that 6K RPM mark...Im thinking ill end up mixing 50/50 just in case
  2. Were talking about the flat part of the plug that the strap is welded to....Your supose to get a solid light color change all the way around that ring....I was only getting a light color change about a 1/4 the way around....The bike did seem lazy a bit at WOT...I went from a 160 to a 172 main jet to see when I would get it to missfire/fourstroke and with that 172 main it acutally ran much stonger. It did sputter just a tad at about 5k rpms but once the power valves opened it pulled clean....Ill put some 170 mains in next and see if that sputter cleans up at WOT...Then ill do a plug chop...the 160 mains were reccommend from trinty....Seemed too lean for sure... Now the plugs have a full color change on the flat and the ground strap heat mark is no longer showing hot! Its right where it should be in the center of the strap! I was using 93 ocatane and was getting some detonation at WOT at about 6-7K rpms....I put in 110 race gas and the detonation was gone....But now im thinking that the main jet being so lean was causing the detonation. Im gonna try pump gas again and see if the detonation is gone... Does one jet size say from 172 to 170 really make a big change at WOT??
  3. I do have a new arm....stock spring.... you think I should put a stock star back on and it would be safer? It has not miss shifted once so far.....tranny shift perfect other than finding nutral... It was in nutral once...and seemed to start to pop into gear....I am very cautious about that...On a quad not as dig of a deal but on the bike it can fall over......Do the rz350 guys have the same issue????? They use the same shift star correct??? Im working on the video, fin tuning it as its getting better...Need to cut down on the wind noise some how....
  4. they look small as alot of the pipe is under the bike. they are big bore oof pipes from the power pro's... modifyed to fit my frame... so far so good...ive only been doing 1/2 throttle as my throttle was made for a streetbike....the rotation is way to much to get to wot...the new throttle will be in next week... seems plenty fast at 1/2 throttle......still tuning....
  5. I know, im just having fun with ya all..... I will use my cutoff wheel and do it once I find a place long enough to do WOT...I cant get to WOT in 6th.....Exactly how long at WOT is relly required?? 10 seconds? 5 seconds?
  6. it fits real well....just lots of fabrication all the way down to the pipes.....motor mounts.... full new wire harness, etc....lots of work but lots of fun 535 with 236 primary gears..... the silencers are cascase innovations....very awsome silencers! Very quite... even on the big engine....
  7. There is no refrence to the flat part on the plug in the sticky.... alot of other folks say this location is a good indicator for the idle/slow speed jetting.... Ill get my maginfying glass out and do some plug chops.... I cant see cutting plugs up...that would take some serious effort..... a milling machine would make it easy
  8. My banshee engine is in a street bike.....Thats why its a bit more important for me to find nutral...
  9. No body reads plugs anymore? Guess your all using widbeands? LOL
  10. I see many articles about plug reading..... Some folks say do not read the white insulator at the top as it means nothing at all... The main jet plug chop is done at the base of the insulator... they say the top flat part on the ring should be colored.....Light color change fully around the flat part on the lip... others say you look only at the flat lip for the color..... Now, Whos correct? my plugs show the flat lip as being only a 1/4 way around has changed color...indicating lean... the whole white insulator is very dark brown all the way down... Rich or lean?
  11. I know what you mean about the touch.... seems like sometimes I can tap the shifter and it finds nutral...Its a pain not finding nutral at stop lights.... or when fiddling with shit.... Im gonna take a real goos look at this at some point and maybe make a new star with a better detent for the nutral postion....I bet a weaker spring would help as well...Ill try the shift kit spring
  12. I was thinking of cutting it deeper......Ill have to look at the roller and make sure it stays down in the slot once deeper. I was wondering if anyone sold a updated star with a better wider nutral detent....Hmm....maybe I should start making them? Guess Ill wait till I need to pull the side cover off....just changed the oil and dont want to drain it again LOL.....
  13. It finds nutral and is installed correct..... LOL, yes I use my hand sometimes to find nutral....Kinda chezzy and tricky to do when running...... what else can I do to fix it?
  14. ok, I did the star mod....works great ,shifts awsome.... I cant seem to find nutral when running...Hell its a bit tricky when the engine is off....I did not round the nutral part off...thats still sharp....It just wants to seem to jump right over nutral........I need to fix this....Who has the fix??? Thanks!
  15. piston slap ususally is only heard while cold and when your reving it a bit but not putting a load on the engine... kinda like 1/2 throttle then backing off so the engine unloads the pistons so the slap side to side a bit....use to get that in my performance cars.... not a real problem...if its knocking at idle it could be something else...
  16. jetsrus was ok for me.....they shipped quick but took a few days to get.... If you need them quicker they cannot do that...only first class shipping...cheap enough.... NOT orginal kiehn parts....
  17. yes, I do have 27 domes.... im at 500 from sea level... to run +5 trinity said I would need race gas....I told them this was a 93 octane engine only...If I run stock banshee timing(0 degree adavnace at the plate) should I be ok?? I really dont want to use race gas!! Thanks!
  18. It not advanced at the key...I built the engine...its an adjustable plate set at +5....shows it on the wheel with a timing light.. 22 degrees at idle... I put the timing back to "0" and will see how it runs...I really do not want to run race gas...its a street bike so I want to ride it and do not want to get stuck without race gas.... I have seen where folks say that a 10mil loves timing...others seem to run 93 octane on similar setups...... weird?
  19. well at 1/2 throttle around 6K rpms up I get detonation...I hear it start and get off quick... Its a 535 with 165PSI.... I run 93 octane...had the timing advanced +5 on the plate.... Some folks said it would run just fine at +5 even on pump gas.... Trinity said NO way.... Put it to stock banshee timing for 165 PSI as the strokers inhernatly have timing built into the crank? What does that mean? Maybe he did not explain it properly.... someone want to chime in? Thanks!

  21. im running them on my 10m trail street motor and they seem to work great....
  22. Well it seems like my pilot circuit is still rich no matter what I do.....38mm PWk carbs....With a 60 pilot it ran rich....3 turns out to see the rpms max out..... with a 45 pilot it does the same....Does not seem to be a change in the posistion of the air screws.... I always end up at 3 turns out to max the RPM out..... Seem kinda wierd?? Engine new...Brand new carbs....all clean....float height is fine....new k&n individual air filters... The plugs show that its idleing clean.....idle for 10 minutes with new plugs and the plugs look great...Maybe a tad lean as it does seem to hunt a bit with the 45 pilots... anyone have any idea's?
  23. if that one cyl ran rich for a while due to a sticking float etc...that pipe could have alot of stu ff in it....Drive it hard and see if you can blow it out..... still does not explain the change in jetting all or a sudden....
  24. you checked the float to make sure its not sticking or leaking? air cleaner clogged on that side?
