  1. Those are the numbers..... measured at the piston pin in line so minimum rocking effect on the readings .050 for one and .053" on the other cyl....
  2. This kit is what alot of folks use http://www.dynotunenitrous.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=174 What they do is use a rechargeable drill battery, runs the pump and the solenoid during racing, simple battery charge.... Works pretty sweet....
  3. Well, it looks like one is .050 and the other is .053 Tim from titan is making me some domes custom to work with 93 ocatane... he like to run .050 on the cheetah engines...says works great.... lose a tad low end but has a much wider longer powerband. Pefrect for my street bike thats only 300lb....
  4. .002" that seems very tight... im thinking I might have more than that. Typically dont folks usually give a range like .040-.045 Maybe they mean both side like .040 each side. some engine builder must know what the suish tolernace from cyl to cyl should be?? Thanks!
  5. LOL bonbon, I was thinking that as I saw the piston rock when I push on it. Ill do it again(from writst pin side of piston) but does anyone still have an idea of how much variation would be ok from cyl to cyl? one at .050 the other at .054 etc....let me know what your folks remmeber wehn doing it... Thanks!
  6. Guys, tell me is im being anal...trinity cheetah When I measure squish, I get the following left cyl front of dome .045 left cyl rear of dome .044 right cyl front of dome .049 right cyl rear of dome .044 Im wondering why the right front dome seems to be larger squish. Ive swaped domes around and get the same reading so its not the domes. Could be the head off a bit... is this worth worrying about? Ive measured it many times, cannot figure it out. Only other thing im thinking is that the piston is rocking a bit mor in that cyl...maybe not as much oil on the bore? Thanks!
  7. wish they had some pics of the dome...inside... thanks!
  8. Guys, im looking for an alternative to the trinity head.....
  9. Looks like one dome is definitly cut diffrent than the other. squish in one is .054 and the other .049. Ill test more tonight. I checked the cyl and stuff, everything is perfect. Just the cut in the dome. tried to measure it with some verniers, could not get a good place to measure it as the taper cut is tricky.
  10. anyone make a head for cheetah other than trinity. Wondering..... Thanks!
  11. talked with tim at titan racing....what a great guy...tons of knowledge........ hes gonna set me up with some custom domes. set up at about 50 squish so the rpms will rev a bit more(loose a bit of torque).... thanks for the help!
  12. Im going to do that reasearch.... thanks for the tip. its not about money....I want it correct... See, your striking a nerve.... my 535 which only has 165PSI cranking pressure will not run on pump gas. I need 1/2 110 race gas. Even if I put the timing to stock with 93 ocatane I had detonation issues! Thanks!
  13. Sounds good! Thanks all for the feedback....Might hit you up for some gaskets if I need one!
  14. Boy, I would be very leary of using 2 gaskets. I would think the chance of it blowing out would be greater. Not saying it will not work but my feeling is that it would be weaker. One single gasket would clamp better... hmmm thats a tough one... im sure 2 would work. Since I need to replace the gasket anyway, may as well use one if available, 2 if I cant locate the correct one. Thanks!
  15. The trinity head uses orings.... cant change that, plus like you said, changes the timing. Adding a thicker base gasket will be fine as im just replacing the material that was removed from the case deck. Right now the gasket is .039" ill see what they have around .049" and call it a day. If the case deck was stock, then I would be concerned. Is there a write up on how to check the timing? Would be interested in learning that Ive got the degree wheel etc....so just my time is needed... Thanks!
  16. I run .042 on my other engine. I was thinking this is way to tight. Probably beacuse the engine deck was cleaned up, removed a tad more material then I hoped for. Guess Ill get a thicker base gasket. I didnt have any way to really measure how much material was removed. Thanks!
  17. well its a 485 setup for pump gas 93 ocatane. 27cc domes checked the squish with solder...came in at .032" toward the center.... Think this will be ok? trinity setup... Thanks!
  18. exactly....trust no one and always check. The triniy kit is fine...Its not somthing you can slam in...Lots of extra work to make it all fit proper...machinig head holes etc... I had called wiseco to confirm a few years ago.....they said .012" for 73mm bore so thats what I always do...I bet a lean running bike would be more prone to issues with a .008 gap.... I have not had any issues with my 535 with .012" So we all agree.......
  19. what do most of you use for ring gaps in the higher hp engines using wiseco pistons? I filed the ring to .011-.012 per wiseco thier spec. It seems to work fine on my other engines ive built... wierd...trinity said they dont file them, they just install them! They come in at .008 seems a bit tight to me... anyone want to add thier opinion?
  20. I ground the numbs and the waffle definatly needed to be ground off otherwise it was just brarley touching. With a gasket it probably would clear. I drilled a 2 inch hole in the center so I can still adjust the clutch easy.... The big flat gasket in the center of the cover will seal that hole plus the outer gasket as a backup. Seems to all fit fine Thanks for the help!
  21. Thanks Boys....ill get the grinder out tonight
