Check the springs above the slides. I actually just had a similar issue with my pwk 28's. The springs were in upside down and my slides wouldn't go all the way up. I'm not sure about your springs though but mine have a clip at 1 side that goes in the slide so when they were in upside down it was causing them to not open fully.
I have heard of the letter designated needles before but cannot find a N68A on the chart. My lgn's are on the total opposite side of the chart from the jjh's. i cannot find the chart again either, i should have saved it
If you look threw the carbs the slides should just not be visible. see if you can push them up with your finger. if so you should be able to jet a little more outta them
Once you cant see the slides anymore, they are as far open as they will go. I don't think you will achieve anything by trying to get them to open any farther
Awesome, exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for your reply. I'll go ahead and order a few jet sizes between my 155 and up to the 165 and grab a set of the JJH needles to. I also saw that most people ended up running the JJH needles but when it comes to the graphs and figuring out the differences between the LGN's I have and the JJH's is like foreign language to me. My DG's ar like an improved stock pipe I would say. They peak below 8k but have a nice pull in the low/mid range.
What is a N68A needle?
Maybe I'll just stick to a set of pods then and watch what kinda crap I'm driving threw.
Anyone else have any suggestions on the needle? Stick with the LGN or go with JJH???
I was planning on running the lid but I was going to drill it or vent it. That way i had the extra air flow and didnt have much worry about getting water or mud or whatever in there
I have no air box at all. I switched to this setup from a single carb with pod and when I got the shee it had dual 34's with pods so I never had an air box. I am going to put and air box back on it asap though and it will be run with one. I just gotta find one at a decent price thats not destroyed. It is almost x-mas maybe someone will be nice and send me one. hehe
Ok, never mind about the whole slide not opening issue. I just went and pulled one carb off and went to sudco's website and noticed I had the spring in backwards for the slide. Funny thing is I installed them the same as they came to me. Oh well got that figured out.
Anyways now back to jetting them. So you think the LGN needles will be fine? I see a lot of people are using the JJH needles. At least it only seems that its gonna be 1 or the other. You also think the 155main and 45 pilot will be fine? Just maybe bunk them up to a 160 and 50 to be safe for now and work from there
When I move the slides by hand there is still probably a 1/4 inch showing and they don't fully disappear. Its weird cause a set of 34 i had and the single 35 I had the slides would both fully disappear when fully open
I know that sound all to well. The 427 in my Camaro did it when the lifters finally wore enough of the cam lobes away. Damn chevy big blocks and $13k engines
is it normal for the slides to not fully open all the way on the 28's? i know on the 34's and 35 I had the slide would basically disappear when fully open and the 28's do not. they also have a very short throw with the throttle
I'm not Having problems jetting my PWK's. I just wanna make sure that I have a good starting point on mine before they get bolted to my bike since i never ran a set of 28's before and I am no jetting expert
PWK's are just worth the extra money in my eyes to have a separate idle screw and separate choke.
Thanks for the link man. i started looking threw the pages and there is so much scattered info its crazy.
Whats everybody currently running with winter and cold weather here
I know that my engine has some port work done to it but have no idea what kind or who did it. I really don't wanna pull the exhaust and stuff off it but i do have the intake off and pics of that. Can you tell just from the intake if its just a cleanup port, trail or dune/drag port?
She runs hard and pulls very strong from way down low till she runs outta rpm's.
I have ridden other shees with other pipes on them but I'll admit I've only ever had the DG's on mine and really like the way it runs with them. I have also only really ran this bike with a single carb to. I would defiantly like to try a set of PC's though.
I did just sell my single carb setup this week and just got a new set of 28's. Once I figure out where to begin with these 28's I'm sure i'll see an improvement then to. If anyone knows where to begin with them the help would be great. i started a new thread in the jettign section.
OK, Just got my carbs in the mail today. They have 155mains, 45 pilots and LGN needles on the 2nd to bottom clip. Where should i start with these.
Also if i use stock intakes with crossover tube, will they kit the clutch lever?
