What Fluids do you use in your trans?
crustydemon replied to LIM_Whiteboy4life's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I usually use belray gearsaver in my play bikes but I put type F in my 02 with the because I thought it would help the clutch hold better. -
The thing with the blue string is a plug like the type you plug the drain hole on the transom of a boat with, I think the E CLIPS go in where your o rings would on the jug side of the pipe to hold the rubber plug in(just jam it in) Just keep your nads away from the buisness end of the pipe. You may also be able to get the dent out just by heating around the dent with a torch and quickly lay a cool wet washcloth or rag on the area and it may pop it out if its not a huge dent. It could fuck up your chrome of course.

How hard should a 4 mill run?

Yes I use the retainers. -
Thanks for the info alf.

I wont spend much money or time on it, all I have to paint is the rear plastic. I might race cut my black rears that are sagging and then try a coat of black on them to shine them up a bit before I decide weather or not to do the blue ones. I'll post some pics and you guys can tell me what you think before I do the blue ones, I kind of hate to split up a full set of matching plastics.

How hard should a 4 mill run?
crustydemon replied to crustydemon's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yeah, Ive seen them but dont know what I want yet. I just thought I was doing something good by porting them but it was just a waste of time. I just wanted to save a couple hundred bucks but I guess I'll eventually end up getting some vforce or pyramids. Ive had this problem before but not quite so bad, I must overtighten the screws and it lifts the petals but I am always afraid of having a screw come out. I couldnt get the petals that I took out of it today to seal against a different set of cages either so now I got the low tension petals in instead of the stiffer ones but It is running better and havent noticed any popping through the carbs yet. -

That very well could be, I have a set of 20in. razar's I could try. Anyway I changed the reed cages and petals and got rid of the spacers and I think that made a huge difference. Havent had time to jet today but hopefully get back to it Sunday. -

Any input on the popping sound through the carbs? -
Picked this up the other day
crustydemon replied to crustydemon's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I'll probably use the blue on my "89. Only bad thing about it is that there is no front brakes at all, no rotor, calipers, lines, or anything. I'll have to check ebay and see what I can find. -
A nice 99 with alot of new stuff, Itp wheels, holeshots, dual rate works up front, pods, durablue axle, tors elim with a twist throttle, new rebuild with new hotrods crank and wiesco pistons done by a reputable shop up here, just broke in. $1500, I thought that was a good deal. Anyway I took it out today and I really couldnt believe it, the son of a bitch is fast as shit. The kid said it was redone in all stock size, new jugs but in curious to see if its been ported or not. I have an extra Noss head I will probably put on it and was going to put my pt mids on because Ive always had something against FMF's but I think I'll ride it for a while and get a feel for it then try the pt's and see if I like them better. I do know one thing, twist throttle's on banshees are not a good idea!!! I never really cared for blue bikes for some reason so it will more than likely be black soon.

This is the only instrument I'll let her play...got a nice midrange tone. I know its dumb, Im just trying to learn how to do the photobucket thing.

I have a set of FMF gold series fattys with power core II silencers that are chrome but someone painted them black and its starting to come off. Im probably putting my paul turners on it but Im going to try both and compare them before I sell them. If its something you might be interested in let me know.

The popping is not detonation. Ive got a card for the airport pumps to get avgas 24hrs a day if I wanted but we have race gas on hand 110 and 114. I just didnt want to have to rely on it if I wanted to go on a trip somewhere that I couldnt get it. -
I have that bulldog stuff and other additives to make regular automotive paint flexible so I might give it a try. How are they holding up on the underside of the rear fenders where the rocks and sand hits? I hate to say it but Im already getting use to the blue, but I still like black better.

How hard should a 4 mill run?
crustydemon replied to crustydemon's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Ok, I didnt get as far as I had hoped today but I did drain the fuel and now I have a 50/50 mix of 92 and 110 and 32:1 techniplate. I Put the 160 mains back in but have not tried it out yet. I did warm it up and then tried to rev it out(It still didnt rev right), I just happened to have the seat off and noticed a popping coming from the carbs. Could this possibly be my reeds not sealing against the cages?I ported my cages quite thin but the petals did have a area to sit on when I installed them. -
Alright thanks, might give it a shot.

picked up another bike yesterday and dont care for the blue, I've got set of black plastics but the rears are not in real good shape so I was thinking about painting the blue rear black. For those of you who have done it, are you happy with it or not.

I wish we had a Sunoco here,we use to have alot of them, my dad ran a DX/Sunoco station for over 35 years, way before Sunoco was a household name to most people. Had to shut down because of leaky tanks when I was about 16 and it was the last one in the area. -
Cant see pics that way.

How hard should a 4 mill run?
crustydemon replied to crustydemon's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Pickup gap is set. Thanks. I'm draining the gas tomorrow and doing a 50/50 mix . The highest octane non ethanol pump gas I can get close is 92. I think I have 87 in it now. I think that will do it, If not I'll just go full high test. I miss the days when pump gas was good, Fuck the EPA! -

The valve is at the very end of the hose(threaded end) and its a good Mac tester but the threads are just not as long as the plug threads, about half I would say. I do have an adapter with the right length threads from another tester with no valve in it so my valve will be up more and would probably just equal out. I'll try 50/50 race gas tomorrow and see what that does. Like a dumb ass I bought another one today, a 99 in really good shape. It was too good of a deal to pass up. I'm going to try to figure out that Photobucket thing so I can get some pics up and maybe post some of the plugs if good gas doesnt do it. -
aftermarket cranks with orings! Machine a grove in cases?
crustydemon replied to lt1bird's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Were are the bearings going to go? I would think that is totally unnecessary. And besides the point, if you did machine grooves in the case halves the orings would not be able to do their job.
