  1. im glad you guys see what im talking about...to me it looks like the bearing did try to spin a little bit...all the bearings seem good, also as far as i know the cases have never been split but when i split them it only took one bump with a rubber mallet and they popped loose and there was hardly and sealant on them....i dont do alot of trail riding..its from riding around my yard b/c i just got the new clutch and basket in...its only been up to the dunes once so thats why it looks a little rich, it hasnt been ran hard. and okbeast, my issue with the pins are all of them except the clutch side are large pins and the clutch side is tiny...i dont know if its broke or its supposed to be that small....i tore it apart because it was leaking what looked to be like oil out of the front of the case...i have a pic on photobucket on what i am talking about....thanks guys
  2. what he said^^worth every penny in my eyes as well. Just make sure you dont buy the cheap one that wears gooves easily...forgot what brand...just stick with a pro design
  3. i totally understand it just looks odd to me thats all, its not a clean machined look its a torn rough look and i would hate to put it together and it be messed up...another question i have is...there are locating pins on every bearing on the crank...the stator side and the 2 middle bearings have a large pin and the clutch side has a tiny pin correct? thanks guys...im new to the whole splitting the case deal so try and bear with me...thanks
  4. i know there are supposed to be grooves but the one i took the pic of looks like the pin on the crank turned a little bit and dug into the case...is that normal or should i be concearned about that....
  5. it isnt unburned exhaust..i put in new o-rings and it hasnt leaked a drip out of the pipes....its wierd there is water and like oil in there. do you think that maybe it had a bad head gasket and leaked water in there? i dont know what the hell is going on...if i put new liquid maker in should i be fine? i just dont see how something could have gotten in there? any input..anyone ever saw this? also since its apart is there anything i should look for? thanks
  6. is the locating pin on the clutch side crank bearing smaller than all the rest, b/c mine is...also it look like the bearing tryed to spin or something and made a groove under where the pin goes..heres a pic its the first 2 pics...also i have a pic on there of my pistons with about 10hours on them..should they be that clean? thanks guys http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn268/sandslinger17/
  7. ok guys i split the cases and up front in front of the crank where it was leaking i found this black liquid which looked like it was mixed with coolant? what do you guys think it is? http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn268/sandslinger17/
  8. well i just took my engine down due to having to split the cases to re-seal them and my engine only has maybe 10hrs on it...my pistons were only had carbon in the middle...there was about a 1/4" ring all the way around the pistons that were clean does that mean im burning coolant or is it just because my top end is so fresh? thanks
  9. i was going to..i took today through tuesday off of work but now i have to split my cases and re-seal them so its not looking good for me making it up this week
  10. i am 100% sure that it is gear oil...i ran it while i was under it and saw where its comming from...the things im talking about...the best way i can describe them are they look like there drilled holes but there not drilled all the way through...they are centenered front to back and are on the outer sides of the lower case, one on the clutch side and one on the stator side...i will try to get you a pic...also should i get my crank welded since it will be out? thanks
  11. anyone else have any ideas/tips thanks
  12. yeah man if i didnt have bad luck i wouldnt have any at all! with a little luck my crank bearings wont be shot...how do i check them, and also should i pressure wash the engine before i start to take it apart?.....i have a question about my oil leak also...i dont know if you will know what im talking about but on the stator side and on the clutch side on the bottom of the case there are like indetations...like a hole drilled in them...thats where my shee is leaking gear oil...what are these holes or w/e they are?
  13. thanks for the help brandon...as much as i hate to say it, i guess she's comming apart tommarow
  14. yup close brandon...got mine for $11 from my local dealership
  15. it is fun to work on them dont get me wrong but i had plans for the weekend to go to the dunes and now its not going to happen...also the money factor is killing me. What do you think will happen if i just leave it...prolly not a good idea im guessing. What do you think would cause it to start leaking now? so if i split the cases and put new seals in and use a good gasket maker i should be good to go right? thanks..i have tommarow through tuesday off of work so i can pull the engine and start tearing it down if the leak is a must fix. Also is there any tips anyone will have for me when i split the cases...i will need a flywheel puller also right?
  16. is this a "common" thing to have to do? Its just so damn wierd, it seems like whenever i put something new on to fix something thats broke something else breaks...im so pist, i love my shee but i am about to give up it seems like the most unreliable thing i have ever owned i have maybe 10 hours on this damn thing since getting it its deppressing
  17. sorry i havent replied to anyone i have been out working on the shee on the little bit of spare time i had. the front grill is a stock black one pay the shipping and you can have it. the front bumper i will do $25 + shipping. the old fmfs i will do $30+shipping
  18. ok so the story starts with my putting on some new oem intakes w/gaskets...and a new coolant hose. All oem. Then i start it up and it runs perfect, so i take it for a ride and snap the damn chain when i got on it hard on pavment and had to get towed home by some kid on a ds650 so that pist me off enough. I looked at my case and nothing was broke as i have a case saver. Here is where the questions are...it was leaking fuel because i need a new petcock and i noticed where the cases meet together up front by the exhaust something was bubbling so i cleaned it off and started it up. Nothing happened for a minute then it looks like oil started to bubble out there a TINY bit. I also figured out where my oil leak was, it is comming out of the clutch side out of a wierd looking indentation...there is one on the stator side and one on the clutch side....do you guys think i have to split my cases and re-seal it?? also it never did it before tonight. also when i spray soapy water on it nothing happens......what the hell...thanks
  19. thanks to joel (me) for taking the clutch apart for you today and finding that the previous owner never tightened down the basket nut haha....and me and that other guy showing you it wasnt a 4mill...and me showing you that the outer clutch hub was shot causing it to burn clutches like crazy......
  20. i cant figure this damn thing out...now this time it didnt leak after i ran it...on the stator side is there anywhere the oil could leak from? thanks
  21. rubberneck, that powder idea is a good one i will have to try that. Loco i checked that vent tube and its routed up front so it would have to run down the frame first and thats dry....i ran it yesterday and it hasnt dripped...its odd it only does it once in a while but i dont want to let it drip and get sand stuck to my cases lol.
  22. i was thinking around like $150 for the cylinders and you could get like...$15-$20? for the stock head....damn dan someone got a good deal....
  23. i guess you saying your pipes are sold like 6 times doesnt make sence to people so i will tell them there sold sold sold sold sold sold....maybe people will read before they ask a dumbass question aqain
  24. i can let my banshee sit for hell, a month and it wont leak a drip of oil but if i fire it up and run it for a minute or so and look at it the next day there is a little puddle under it. Where could it leak from the kickstarter seal?? thanks
  25. $450 for stock unported cylinders and a stock head? damn.....
