Can a plugged Pilot cause a meltdown?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to David DeLeon's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
What? The pilot feeds fuel at WOT, along with the max fuel it can flow your also getting the main jet too. So if the pilot is plugged...your missing fuel on your top end jetting. That would cause a burn down for sure. Bad gas can cause it too if the motor was detonating. But....were the pilots on BOTH carbs clogged? Because your not going to burn down both pistons if only one pilot is clogged. Sounds like you have an issue that might be bigger than just a clogged jet. -
Plus you filed your grooved basket till it was smooth again. Sounds like a good fix....but if you didn't take the exact amount of material off all the basket fingers....then you could have just a few of them that are making contact with the fibers before the others do. This can shock sections of the fibers and even cause them to flex and bind. This can also cause them to break. You can't cut corners with the clutch.....unless you like pulling clutch covers often.

Most compression you've seen
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Paulie B's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Trinity sent me a 210 compression with a 28 squish...... -
When it comes to CPI....on that size motor the BB pipes are your best bet. With Shearers you would want the SB.

LMAO.....We're back to cheese. SWEET!

You don't have to rant. If your not reading anyone's longer posts.....the what's your point? Plus if your not even interested in the topic....then your trolling at this point.

Thanks....I know just what to do with your input.... It's only long if your reading it on your phone........I still said less than a 1/3 of what Phelps has said and I didn't have to tell you about how many years I've been riding, list a collection of old machines, tell the world how I use my lawn equipment....... Stick to reading the shout box......and picture books. The reading is a little closer to your grade level.

OH SHIT! 2003! LMAO WTF?

Flywheel spun on the crank maybe...... Or try fresh gas. One of the guys in our group bought some premium 93 octane and it was junk after a week. (with the economy....who knows how long the premium is sitting in the ground. I'm sure the regular sells faster.) His bike ran fine once we push started him. That would be an easy test and an even easier fix.

No, I wouldn't say commonplace. Not for me at least. I have ZERO interest in finding or worrying about "Top Speed." I also find no thrill in spending alot of time at top speed on my bike. My high speed riding is done on the dunes because that's about the safest place to be going that fast. Even out on the dunes, I ride at the "Speed of sight" because when I'm going that fast, with all the ups and downs and shaking...my vision will blur and I'll have to lift just to focus. LOL. This post has a life of it's own and I was not privy to the earlier shout box debate. I have commented once on the topic. Each person has their own picture in their head as to what WOT means. Phelps is clearly coming at this from a flat road top speed wide open and you won't lift no matter what point of view. I was commenting that running a machine hard for long periods is not inherently damaging. I would NOT say that you can run WOT at top speed with very little load on the motor for extended periods of time. (If that was the original argument...then I would disagree.) What I would say is a motor that has a load on it can be run WOT for extended periods at say maybe 9,000 RPM without issue. (To be clear...I'm saying the front side of where ever your peak power is. Anything NOT in over rev.) Now the closer to stock a machine is, the less power it has and the more the load will protect the motor from reaching damaging high RPM over rev. Now Phelps.....When I say you can run extended periods at high RPMs I'm not talking about custom pipes or domes or timings to make it run best at that rpm....I'm just saying you can run a banshee the way you ride a bicycle. On a bike you can pedal as fast as you want and if there is enough load (AKA Wind, Aero Dynamic Resistance, Weight, Road friction, or a hill ) THAT FACTOR working against the power you provide will dictate your top speed and you'll never go into personal over rev. But if your flying down a hill, eventually your legs will be spinning and doing no good. You could keep pedaling fast....but your just going to blow out or hyper extend your knees. So if your Banshee is going so fast that your in over rev and not adding to acceleration.....then you would lift and coast till the speed drops enough for the motor to be able to get you back up to the previous top speed. Just like you would while pedaling a bike. But if you were climbing Olds hill at Glamis, and it was a mile high......as long as you were jetted for the load, you could run that hill to the top pinned. (NOTE: Example offered in debate of RPM/LOAD/DURABILITY....not looking to get off track with fuel delivery debate. LOL) So, I'm NOT trying to side with Meth.....I'm just saying a Banshee that has load on it, is jetted correctly and has air passing thru the radiator, can survive for longer periods of time at WOT than some believe possible. I was clearly commenting on "Burn Downs". If your dumb enough to play around in "Panic Rev Mode" then I would be talking about rods thru the cases, not melted aluminum. WOT on a flat road for extended periods is gay ass shit and only proves you have no decent place to go off-roading. I've commented many times with people who start 100MPH posts that it's dumb to brag about. If top speed runs on flat roads is your thing.....buy a trailer and go find a hill, a track, a gravel pit, sand dune area....whatever! I live in Illinois. We don't have ANY state land that is legal to ride on. I drive anywhere from 1 to 3 1/2 hours to go ride a decent dirt location (other than local back yard tracks) and it's 4 1/2 hours to the dunes. But I do the drive and even pay to ride at those places because running down the endless paved roads of Illinois takes about as much talent as falling asleep at the wheel.

Burndowns at WOT can mostly be traced to the wrong size main jet, junk oil, or an undersized exhaust that backs heat into the motor. These are why modded machines fail the first time a Banshee owner finds a wide open space like a turf farm or a sled rider rips across a frozen lake. Most have never done a plug chop in those conditions....so how could you possible know if your jetted correctly? All my bikes get tuned on our dyno, then taken to the dunes and the jetting is double checked in a high load riding situation like only sand can duplicate. WOT is not my enemy. I also run EGT probes on my fully ported REDLINE 10 mill cub. So I can see what lean and hot can do. If your jetted correctly, you'll be fine. WTF is burping the throttle every once and a while going to do?.....the radiator isn't going to suddenly cool the motor 20-30 more degrees. If your burping the throttle....you just need to go up on your main jet. Wide open throttle in 5-6th is NOT the same as pinning the throttle in neutral. In gear and moving is with a full load. Think about it....snomobiles, leaf blowers, jet skis, anything with a CVT tranny, chainsaws, even those high end RC cars. A long street for an RC car is like miles of open road when you think about to scale. WOT is just a place you jet for. You won't over rev the motor. Motors fall on thier faces in overrev. That limits your speed and RPM. It's a natural rev limiter. But if your lean at WOT....your making molten aluminum. Old Wives Tale #1 - 2strokes can't run WOT.......BUSTED. Pin it to win it boys......just jet it right first. LOL

I have a 96 too. All us fast guys run them. I buy up all the 96 models I see on the internet just to stay top dog. Some day I'll open a speed shop and sell all my 96 Banshees exclusively. My Banshees will beat everyones and you'll have to pay top dollar to get one of my rare 96 models since they don't make them any more. (In 96 they changed the Banshee motor from a "Twin 350" to a "350 Twin".) 700cc's makes alot more power. Now you know why 96's are SOO HARD to find!

Don't know if it's just me, but when checking in from on my phone ...I sometimes just get an all blue screen. I'll click the post or page 2-3 times and it'll still do it. Sometimes the 4-5 time, the post will show up. ( Droid based smart phone) -
My leaf blower runs wide open with the throttle locked that way for hours on end in the fall year after year. Why doesn't it lock up solid? Is it because it doesn't have a 6th gear?
-
I told him to sell his Shearers and buy Snipers. (What more do you want from me?) They just might be worth 3.4 HP....but then again the guy I told that to was willing to run Trinity pipes, so performance isn't really his #1 issue......so regardless, he should be very happy with Sniper pipes. Why are almost all the Sniper posters owners of OOF pipes? I read all about your IN-FRAME pipes making 10 more HP than any other pipe on the market...... Wouldn't all the motors you listed above all be better off with your In-Frame pipes?
-
Sorry 10 extra...too late to edit. And "ban421shee" your only talking about a single dyno sheet. The guy who posted that sheet (Mialman) had alot more to say about the matter (And many more runs to show) and it was 180 degrees opposite of what your point was, so unless your willing to read and try to comprehend.....your just spewing info that you want to believe rather than understanding the posters point.
-
See you should be advising "Fouledout421" as to what pipe he should get. See he could be making a whole 15.....wait....correction....3.4 more HP with Snipers. How come none of you Sniper nut swingers ever want to talk about the missing promised 15 HP????
-
Well it's winter now. So you have 5 months till the dunes open again. I figure with 5-6 months of down time, you can sell what you have and order up some Snipers. I look forward to seeing you happy with your entire ride next season. Dump those on some ebay fool and order up 15 more HP today! I've seen DM dyno runs with snipers...... I can't wait to see a set on your machine. LMAO Happy Holidays everyone. I hope you ALL find Snipers in your stocking Christmas morning. LOL
-
We know! LOL That's why after all the years of talking about them not fitting, breaking, mount issues, etc...............Your still running them too.
-
Just a general question.......why is everything harder to find and more expensive in the UK? I figure everything that rides a boat to the U.S.A. also rides a boat to you. Why is everything such a pain to deal with in the UK?
-
I got one that I've been doing some long term endurance testing on.........(I got it right after he started this post.) I figured he would get plenty of people who would be in line to ask for a freebie, but I've been actually testing it and trying it on a few different bikes for a while. It's been on a few high HP, high reving bikes for some dyno sessions as well as a few trips to the dunes and the Badlands. It's a very nice looking piece and I haven't had any issues with it so far. (Mine is the standard model, not the DC conversion.) I took it for a trip down the creek at the Badlands in a stock stator cover. My nerfs and shifter were under water the whole time. I think the only thing that stayed dry all day was my filters. LOL. As for the stator.....mine is still going strong. Better than I can say for most Ricky Stator junk.

PLEASE.........What is she leaving you?...........Cause I don't see you kicking her to the door.......if you have put up with her all this time. Less Talk.....More Walk!
