  1. seems like its solid, cant get the selector to go passed second, and even getting it into 1st neutral and 2nd is a bit of a task itself, makes me think its not the clutch as i should be able to change through the gears without it engaged?
  2. Ok so recently done a trans oil change however it sat for 2 weeks with no oil in it as I had to re tapp the hole and put a bigger plug in as I stripped the sump. Also I have just fitted ASV levers, so had the quad out yesterday in the snow and I noticed it was really hard to get into second and then again back down to first.. Then when working back up the gears it will not go passed 2nd and won't go into 3rd upwards. It has always been quite stiff to get through the gears since I've had it but just seems now it won't budge. Any ideas before I start to strip it down and have someone look at it.
  3. To be honest you are both right! I do want an easy life it is the reason I got into bikes and motocross, I am very new to the sport as cars and modifying got very expensive and fucked me over but that's a story for a different day. Parts wise it's not really getting the right part it's the fact of the cost of the parts over here, and every little thing has to be imported, that then brings on lots of small pain in the ass costs that I cannot get my head round paying. I guess I would be more suited to a 4 stroke as I already have a Honda crf that I muck about on. I've decided however to keep the banshee for a while, well at least untill I sell it and get a yfz 450 or an ltr 450
  4. Yeah calm down mate I did say it was my fault. Just came to the end of my teather with the thing hence the post, if I was looking for mechanical advice I wouldn't post it in this part of the forum.
  5. It's not really the parts to be honest it's just me that needs the change and I think I would just prefer a newer bike, I'm after a choke just now and a standard crossover pipe, there's a couple of other bits but if I'm honest if I'm not keeping it its no really worth it. I was out today on my Honda crf because my banshee let me down yet again something simple that turned into a nightmare kind of my fault but its just the last straw. Went to do an oil change and when screwing in the sump plug I threaded the hole so just a small thing that could happen to anyone but it just sums up everything with the bike.
  6. Thanks for your opinions lads, just really trying to sort my banshee to sell now as its just problem after problem and its becoming the point now where I can't enjoy it without the worry that something else is going to go wrong. What do you guys make of the yfz 450? The reason I ask is I cannot find a lot of the suzukis around my way for sale and then it has the same issue for parts here.
  7. Ok so I start my topic off with the fact I love my banshee, however I don't love it's reliability or the fact it is a nightmare to get parts in the uk. I use my banshee for just messing around tracks and trails etc nothing like some of you guys or compittive just general mucking around. Lately I've got sick of the banshee and the fact I go to fix something and then something 10x worse happens to try and sort that so I have been toying with the idea of a newer quad.. So what do you guys make of the yfz 450 or the Suzuki ltr450? I really do love my shee but as I say parts are a nightmare so doing a rebuild is really not cost affective for me. Let me know your general opinions of these other quads or try and sway me to keep the banshee...
  8. thanks for the replys, just checking before i go to order so we are on the same page, ATF = automatic transmission fluid? sorry for the noob questions just want to make sure i am getting the right stuff, im good with the nut and bolts side of things but just when it comes to oils and things like electrics i am at a loss! thanks again
  9. sorry to start another trans fluid thread however after everyones recomendations i just cannot find a stockist in the uk for the stuff you guys use. my banshee is pretty stock with stock gearbox etc, only mods are fmf gnarly gold series with power core 2 back boxes, a shitty boost bottle and a k&n filter. i have only just got my banshee so im not 100% sure what oil to use as i cannot find any of the stuff you guys use. i usualy use these guys for oil as i get a large discount: www.opieoils.co.uk/ so if anyone has any sugestions from that site that would be great. the only thing i can see is this: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-935-motul-transoil-expert-10w-40-lubricant-for-gearboxes-with-wet-clutch-technosynthese-ester.aspx would this be ok in mine? thanks in advance i am at a loss
  10. Checked over the hoses etc and all is ok, I got the bike started on about the 5th kick, the bike wanted to idle however it just kept dropping off and I just let it die as I had to get reddy to go out. So I'm going to let my friend have a look over it and adjust the carbs as he knows a hell of a lot more than me, I would just be guessing. I still recon something is wrong with the bike I will let my friend have a look and see what he thinks and report back. Thanks again for everyone's help!
  11. Yeah I unplugged and took the box away completely and took the cable away from the thumb throttle and unplugged it. I don't have tools to check compression but I may be able to get a hold of them. It was started and had it out for a good 3 hours trouble free 2 weeks ago, however I did go through some rather deep puddles. Thanks
  12. ok so a little success tonight unpluged the tors unit and yay its sparking, however i put everything back together plugs in etc and it still wont fire up. any sugestions of what to check next? thanks for being patient with me i have an extreme lack of knowlage of these however i can learn fast!
  13. Thanks buddy I know Essex I've got a buddy from there through other forums etc I bought my last Clio sport from Kent so not a million miles away and I have a good friend from Guildford so again I kind of know the area! I've been using eBay for parts but I just find it pretty limited the selection of parts you can look for. I will give them a call regarding the choke cheers for that mate
  14. Thanks everyone for the replies really helpfull, I will ditch the boost bottle as soon as I get a stock crossover tube. I will have a play around with the carbs and disconnect the box etc. My choke on the other hand doesn't lock in position it just fires back in I take it this means I need a new choke? As for the wires on the clutch I recon they have already been snipped, however I have orderd ASV clutch and brake levers to eliminate the parking brake! Glenyboy where abouts in the uk are you? And do you know of any good sources of parts in the uk? Wish me luck I will let you guys know how I get on after work. Thanks
  15. The other thing is when I had the mounting issue the company paid for the repair and changing the bracket! So I wouldn't be too put off buying one, worst comes to worst just send it back
