  1. REDLINE, Now that your done having a Grand-maul-hissy-fit.... Wipe the spit and foam off of your mouth, pull yourself together (looks like you might have pee'd yourself in all the excitement) Now, no straight shooting honest person would have ANY reason to have more than one screen name. (Unless maybe you changed bikes and your motor or bike was in your screen name) But to openly brag that you have 10? I don't know how old you are...but.....GROW UP! Here's the deal. Your rep is crap! Scream in the tallest CAP letters that you can muster. It won't change the fact that YOU ARE KNOWN ON MANY SITES AS BAD NEWS. Take a walk. Make a friend in a chatroom and tell them about how we're all wrong about you. But NO ONE here or anywhere cares if you have been wrongly accused. It is the duty of EVERY site member to alert other members about guys like you. So don't kill the messenger...look in the mirror and blame THAT GUY. Now.... GO POUND SAND!
  2. JOCKY BOY!
  3. Outside the frame!
  4. Hard to help you with things we can't see. The pin weld on the shift star most likely means the shift pattern is changed. (Maybe neutral down?) Looks like alot of welding for a 10 mill....But tha crank looks like they spent some cash, so that's a good sign.
  5. Hey now....something about all that stuff on the red cloth looks a little familiar to me........OH YEAH....It's MY STUFF! Damian is the man! Great work on my stuff. I had my stuff clear ceramic coated so I wouldn't have to ever polish it again. Well.....the coating held up great on the motor, pipes, carbs, head, cases, cylinders. But it didn't last one trip on the axle and hubs. So those I have to touch up after I ride. But it sure is nice to clean my totally polished motor with just a squirt of brake cleaner or a quick shot of Windex.
  6. Yeah $8,000 is not very realistic. (Of course every time the end of a season comes around alot of guys put their stuff up for sale at an inflated price hoping they will find a sucker so they don't have to pay storage.) But seriously, that bike looks very nice. But I bought almost twice the bike for $7,500 and the seller ate the shipping. The markets tough. We all know what you have into it, but your not even going to get 50 cents on the dollar. Even parted out, your going to take a big hit. Why not keep it? It is a very nice looking ride....
  7. "Insufficient funds"
  8. The only thing a 400EX does better than a banshee....is start with the push of a button. You know it's a weak bike, when I throw a 440 Big Bore kit on it and the wife still wants MORE POWER! Raptor 660 was where she finally thought we were getting close. Her choice was a Raptor 700 or a mildly built Banshee. She chose the 370 long rod banshee with a D+M dune port. A 400EX is fine for C-grade riding on C-grade trails. If you have one...keep it. It's not worth selling for what you'll get cash wise. Why buy anything smaller than a 450. With all the ATV prices being in the toilet...you can get just about anything you want for chump change. Look what just sold today! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110579866795&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:MOTORS:1123
  9. Well I'll respond to this one by saying that we just sold my wife's Honda 400 EX that had a 440 big bore kit, PEP triple rate shocks with remote res', and a +4 axle. It was my back-up bike for dirt and woods riding and her main bike for the dunes. That bike shook the snot out of her on the dunes no matter what I did to the shock set-up, even after adding a stearing stabilizer. The seat didn't impress me after a long day of riding, and it overheated bad in a GNCC race on me because in the tight technical trails when your in 1-2 weaving in and out of trees and over logs, the air doesn't cool the oil very well and the motor get's hot! Now she's on a Banshee with a 370 long rod motor, works shocks, and she loves it. The seat is alot softer than any other seat in the industry. Yes I'll say that the 400EX carves a tight turn. It has to, it's short! I don't think the 400 jumps all that better than the banshee. The 450's do. But 4-strokes always have tons of low end torque. I'll admit that I'd rather run a KTM 450-525XC for the tight dirt and woods. But the article was about DUNES. And there is NOTHING the Honda 400EX does well or better than a Banshee in the sand.
  10. I want to be sure I'm not looked at like I was bashing the bike. I have no problems with the bike. It's the perspective from the DW staff that boils my blood. I have more than one Banshee. One is a Metal Tech full chromoly +4 front Dune/Drag frame and a 472 cheetah that's right at the triple digit HP mark. So I know the benefits of a different frame. (my bike in full dune trim with Elkas is only 301 lbs.) But the stock frame isn't THAT bad. Yes, the outlaw, with it's honda 250R geometry works better. But I have no problems riding MX,WOODS,TRAIL,GNCC on my stock framed Banshee. I look forward to the day an EFI fuel system is an affordable option for the Banshee. But the article read like without EFI and a custom frame...why ride or own a banshee.
  11. I read it too...... Apparently according to the article, here's what they had to say... "The original Banshee chassis is an ill handling,front-end heavy, rigid handfull, and with nearly double the stock horse-power, it would not be fun to ride." ( So they are all gung-ho about the Lonestar "Outlaw" frame that Lonestar doesn't even make anymore. ) Fuel injection - "Made riding a Banshee again not only fast, but fun." (Well I guess us carb guys are just knuckle dragging idiots who don't know what real fun is. Guess I'll have to buy a YFZ450R and find out what I've been missing. Even though it weighs more with all it's aluminum frame and current new technology than the any year stock Banshee. "JSR mods turned this Dinosaur into something we would be proud to own." (I guess I'll have to contact Stellar performance, Metal Tech, Lonestar, CP, Keihin, V-force, Shearer, Elka, Direct drive, and JJ+A about a refund on my wasted money. ) JSR TWO STROKE REVIVAL - Yes it would leave a Raptor in the dust. (The only place that 2-strokes are dead is in the pages of Dirt wheels. There isn't a single Banshee in my 20 person ride group that can't whip the snot out of a Raptor.) The article doesn't even list a writer! It was written by "The staff of Dirt Wheels." WTF? (Just goes to show what they think of the 2-stroke scene. ) I'm not hating on the 4-stroke scene. (If I got one it would be a Raptor 700 or a KTM 525XC) But from the tone of the article, you can tell the staff at dirt wheels thinks the Banshee's are just old bikes left out in the weather and ridden by people who aren't up to date. Guess everything needs EFI for them to think it's worth being proud to own. Too many weak wrists over there for them to handle opening 2 carbs! They will be hearing from me.......how bout you? LIGHT THEM UP WITH YOUR THOUGHTS! 1-661-295-1910 office 1-661-295-1278 fax www.hi-torque.com
  12. Yeah, it means they want you to think is special somehow...but don't expect much cause they don't want you to hold them to any power predictions.
  13. Aren't T-6's understood to be only best on stock motors? I could see T-5's working on a ported motor but I don't think you would port to match the T-6. Of course contact the builder, but for dunes....CPI and Shearer all the way.
  14. You holding the rod and tape measure? Sizes might be a little off... (You know you can go blind doing that)
  15. On some of the honda carrier type +6 swingarms, the stock brakeline will just work. But if your using an arm that keeps the factory carrier.. Yeah, you'll need a new line.
  16. They are all over Ebay. Where are they going? Modquad not going to make them anymore?
  17. Well I understand what your trying to say. (Though I don't think anyone wants to be so crass as to jest that we're rooting for a game of human pinball) But why does EVERYTHING we try to do have to be reconfigured to protect the stupid people? Yes, I understand your comment about "Natural Selection". It's cold...but it's real life. When I was little, when ever I got a dumb idea as a kid for a way to do something....my Grandpa would stop as if he was thinking my idea over, then look at me and say "Well.....we Could do that....but that would be stupid." Then he'd let me try to defend the idea. After I was out of breath from trying to be right, he would then point out the 3-5 things I hadn't thought about that were unsafe, or consequences I hadn't quite thought through....and I'd LEARN from that. Other times when I'd get hurt when something went bad, (you know, when your squeezing your head like a vise after you get a good konk on the head and checking to see how bad it's bleeding. LOL) He'd wait a second or two and chime in with "Well...Do you feel any smarter?". Now it's sad that this guys friends had to die because of a lack of judgement, but life's no walk in the park. Unfortunatly the entire event will change because "Somebody has to pay". We can't just leave it at "Well they shouldn't have stood there." As for doing something more in the future to protect the stupid people from themselves......I'll bet you could build big white crosses on the spot to remind others that it's not a good idea to be in that spot, and next race you'll see people climb them for a better view. I read the flag idea.......how about we try this. Let's say for the next race you post that the track is dirt and the trucks sometimes slide off of it for no reason and people get killed. I mean, if people can "Get" that the flags will end up slowing down the action, why can't they "Get" that the track is for the action and they should stay away from the danger? It's just another feel good move that won't solve anything. You already have signs every 200ft warning people to stay back! Why do you need to do anything more? Where does it end? Pepper spray and tazers with armed security forces in place to quell fan obstruction? NO. But in the end this sport will be run in V-6 mini trucks on an indoor track at a football stadium, with radio controld ignition cut-off's on a track too lame to harm the drivers and concrete barriers to protect the fans...because people sometimes make bad desissions and end up dead. And for whatever reason,we can't have that....... NASCAR has catch fences around the track....I use to think it was to keep tires and parts from flying off into the crowd. Now that I'm older, I think they are just there to keep the drunks from streaking out on the track and down pit road!
  18. I never understood why off-road racing has fans that treat the race like a game of dodgeball. I LOVE dragracing, but I'm not thinking of poping a squat indian style on the centerline, just past the finishline and waiting for two top fuel dragsters to come blazing past me on either side of me. Maybe I just give the "Potential" for trouble all the respect it deserves. I find it interesting that guys who knew how dangerous the location was, still stood there. If guys who know better still stand in an unsafe spot, how can 1 or even 20 patrol people MAKE a crowd stay out of an area? I also don't understand why common sense behavior always needs to be enforced by the orginization or group running the event. Not every event in life should require a saftey officer to be conducted. It sucks that people died. But it sucks even more that an event can't be held out in the middle of a desert or even on a closed course without interfearance from on lookers. People PLAN to get close and PLAN to be in the action. Why not PLAN to stay safe even if you don't see the event from the best spot? Maybe PLAN to bring some scafold out and set up a observation deck on the inside of a corner so you can see over the crowd and stay above the action? (you only need to be up 6'). We used to do it for Car car cruise action at car shows. You'll see the machines coming from alot farther away, and be able to see them drive off? Or just let everybody else stand over there in the "Unsafe" spot and you hold your picnic in the safer spot. The problem is no body seams to understand consequences in this world anymore. Life doesn't have a new guy in the corner of the screen waiting for you like a video game. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of life. But I don't see how you can blame an orginization for peoples overall bad judgement.
  19. Snop, who's stator are you using and how many watts is it. Do you have a charging circuit or will it charge correctly the way you have it? I saw a thread on how to mod a ricky stator unit, but the wiring is a little different on the stocker. Trail tech has the full DC set-up....thoughts?
  20. You ever look on Ebay....they are on there for next to nothing every day.
  21. Damn...you got me with that one. Now that's a shot I can agree with.
  22. I never said you can't post here. And where are YOUR pic's of you going big? Not the point... You don't like my suggestion, so I'm an idiot? Highschools over...lighten up. Well, since I'm an old idiot jackass....and I've never found myself needing to post pictures to prove something to somebody....I guess I'd have to figure out how to post some pics. Of course, that won't really end the debate will it. One guy thinks -1 is the way to go and another says +4,+6....where is the common ground? 6"-1"= +5? 4"-1"= +3? He was asking about his motor combo. I was just taking the next step and mentioning swingarm. Ultimately, he'll run what he has and take our comments to heart AFTER he let's the clutch out a few times. No, I'll say stick with what you know. If you like the idea of shorter arms, Fine. What I was saying is a recomendation...you don't agree, fine. Give him your suggestion. He can follow which ever he thinks sounds most reasonable.
  23. Oh they fail! Almost every other banshee motor I tear down has the impeller warped, ground down or rounded off. Once they warp and bind, the drive gear breaks and your done! All it takes is a previous owner overheating it a few times from poor jetting, low speed riding with high rev's, or riding with a mudded up radiator and it'll overheat that impeller and destroy it. The billet impeller is cheap and it works. In my shop....if your buying a water pump gasket...you also buying a billet impeller. X2 on the Engine Ice.
  24. Snop, can you post some pics of how you mounted your battery and mention the style and specs for it?
  25. At least I'm a Jackass who still ownes a Banshee!! Unlike someone on here who keeps posting on "BansheeHQ" even though he sold his Banshee and is stuck rockin' the 4 stroke scene. Listen, I get the geometry. I'm 40. I've been at this since Banshee's had gold wheels and J-arms. But I never liked the -1 set-ups. They were a big deal back in the day, when you didn't have 4mill motors and most bikes didn't have porting. It was Banshee vs.250R and the Honda had better handling. So the -1 and the custom A-arms made the Banshee feel like a 250R. (Honda was still lighter and better for MX) But I don't feel that -1 with tons more power is a good combo. Maybe in super tight trail riding you might think +4 or +6 is too long. But if the trails are that tight and slow enough that turning is everything....then I'd be looking at a 4 stroke for those ride conditions. (maybe even one with reverse) My next 4 stroke will be a KTM 450XC and I'll put a +4 on that bike too. Maybe it's just me. I'm 6'0" and I'm more comfortable on a longer bike. I ran a GNCC style Hair scrambler on my ported 370 long rod Banshee with +2+1 arms and a +4 swinger with a +2 axle and I had no troubles. I've got a rider running MX with a full 4 mill motor and he was either blowing the tires off or having to lift so it wouldn't flip. I put a +4 arm on his bike and he loved it...till he rode mine with a +6. Now we both run a +6. We both had no trouble running faster lap times than the raptor 700's and 1/2 the built 450's. (Sorry, I'm 40...I don't go for the triples anymore. When it comes to Woods/Trail/GNCC...(For the record)....We don't run in stuff tight enough to need hand guards. The wife's bike is just for her to use on the dunes (she doesn't dirt ride)It has a +6 arm and +2+1 A-arms. (Dyno'd at 64HP with a Graydon 2 into one jetted fat and timed stock till she get's use to the power) My dune bike is a Chromoly Metal Tech +4 front frame with +2+1 A-arms and a +10 arm. (Fully ported 472 cheetah last dyno'd at 95HP...we'll see in a week with the new pipes ) So for whatever it's worth.....I'm kind of familiar with the modded banshee chassis.
