With a high powered dune bike (Even a 421) you will run into some shifting issues. If your ONLY dune riding, you might tough it out with a stock style tranny. But if you want to do any drag racing, even if it's just in the flats on the dunes or some hill shooting, you'll want an override.
-
Even if you put a 10 mil DMX in your frame, you would STILL want more power. Unfortunately your hands might have something to say about it.

That's Snop's bike. 13 - 46 gearing? WTF?

Those pistons work great if you don't have porting. But if they are ported cylinders....then you just doubled the extent of the porting. So YES. You now have a serious drag port. You'll have to go with a standard Wiseco piston. (Don't get the Vito's stock style replacement pistons, they aren't good at all.) The Vito's Super Stock pistons are a great item....but just aren't a good fit for your build. Sorry....looks like your going to be swapping some slugs. Maybe you can find someone without any porting who wants to see big HP gains on their next re-build.

Yes, you can eliminate it. You only need the crank case vent at the rear.

Sorry to hear that your agreeing with me.......that meens your going thru all the B.S. I was warning about. Who's cutting the domes? Did you ever get your bike on a dyno? I'll have the jetting info for him tomorrow........ -
I'll check my notes and have an answer for you tomorrow.

What is with the Serval Cat?

I already read that thread...some good info in there but not what I was looking for. Why was it developed? What are the gains vs stock, and more importantly, the gains vs stock ported? everything you just mentioned can be found in the search including a link with dyno numbers just by searching "serval". it does seem to have some growing pains though. 2001 Banshee White/Black 1983 YZ490 1981 XS650 Save a Banshee, Scrap a Pro Circuit. www.wilsey-zone.com General Banshee Discussions > General Banshee Discussion > What is with the Serval Cat? #1238399 Profilact HQ Lieutenant Group: Members Posts: 155 Joined: 20-April 08 Posted Yesterday, 05:58 PM I rebuilt my motor about a year ago and I dont remember any mention about Serval Cats then....Obviously is a monoblock cylinder but what really makes em tick? What is the advantage over porting stock cylinders, which I did? Post away! YEAH......... it gave me 3 matches......all from this post. Why do people say "Do a search"....this search feature sucks! -
That's going to run more than $400 to get all that......But at least your not having to start from scratch.

what kind of pipes do you use?

I run SHEARERS on my bike, because I was running CPI's and when we dyno'd it the number seemed low,(it's a 472 Cheetah) so we put a set of SHERERS on it and gained 14HP. Funny thing is, for all that have said the CPI's have a better low and mid compared to the SHEARERS....my readings on the front of the dyno curve were as good as the CPI's or better. On mine the "Hit on the high end" that people describe was just where the CPI's fell off. But for the motor your describing, I'd go with FMF FATTY'S. I've got them on our 370 long rod - 63HP bike and they run great. -
If you get the big stainless bolt kit off ebay from "Alloy Bolts" you'll have almost EVERY bolt you could ever need. (You just know a missing bolt can kill a day.) Put the stainless kit on your machine and save the stockers for spares. If you can get fluids you like there, your covered for that. A stearing stabilizer will spare you some wear and tear on your body........................don't forget the BANSHEEHQ ride gear. TORS ELIMINATOR KIT!!!!!!! Spare CDI (they don't like heat. LOL) Spare chain, or at least a spare master link Sand tires anit-sieze Loctite plugs zip-ties grips goggles or spare lenses gloves spare clutch spare clutch and throttle cables Filter oil spare shift shaft - (most shifting issues start with a bent shift shaft and can be fixed easy with a shift shaft change.) SEARS has a great deal on this tool kit. I use the same one for my ATV traveling tool needs. It's on sale! http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00935255000P?prdNo=13&blockNo=13&blockType=G13 If you add some allen wrenches, channel locks, flywheel puller and the clutch tool, you'll be about set for tools. You would be shocked at the extra stuff I fit in the top storage area. I even fit my clymers manual in there with my compression tool and my low pressure tire gauge along with all the end wrenches and screw drivers.

At silver lake you can run a small plte off your rear grab bar and they will be fine with that. I do. BUT.....I'll advise that you mangle the threads on the back side of the plate once you get it installed. Because I had a plate stolen off my quad at night while in camp. Someone was too cheap to buy thiers, so they stole mine. -
I've got a pair of Mint condition FMF Power Core II silencers. I'd like to trade for a set of the Turbine core II silencers if any of you have a set you want to swap. PM me. Thanks.

WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to volcrano's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Is there any chance you lean on the bottom end and as it pulls higher RPM's you going rich from the restrictive air box? I'm not sure of your ride area, but I ride The Badlands in Indiana with no box, just Outerwears and have no issues. Maybe you should try popping the lid till you solve the problem. I think your lean too. Won't hurt to go 3 sizes bigger an see what happens. Or try raising your needles.....Are you doing full throttle plug chops or are you looking at the plugs after ildling to a stop? -
The response has been great to this post, but could I add to the question by asking all you alky guys just one question.... What size fuel needles are you running in your carbs? I got a guy who won't take advice if his life depended on it. (Backed plugs, bent domes, trashed crank and rod bearings. Timings still set on MAX+ and only adjusts the powerjet for fuel tune.) He's running 1.6 fuel needles in his fully polished Mikuni billet 38's (NO PUMP!) on a 421 cub (300ft sand drags) I'm guessing your all going to say it needs to be 3.0 or larger. What would they be With a pump? (I'm still guessing bigger than 1.6.)

Yeah, I'm looking forward to going back again. But I'll be racing the Megacross on Saturday...... depending on weather of course. -
Just another Trinity Kool-aid drinker. 95HP my ass. I'll bet that's what they told him it makes. A Herrjugs dune ported stocker will run better.

421cheetah pv assembly fitment issues
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to oih8u2's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Yep, you know I'm sounding the warnings. DON'T even START that motor till you have Tim at Titan Racing cut the domes the right shape. Last thing you want to see happen, is that motor blow the rings when it's good and hot...and you'll trash the pistons and spend $300 to get new ones, all becuase the domes are a disfunctional shape! TRINITY = JUNK! Wait till it hits a dyno and your number reads 68HP. NO joke! Ask "Nickisgod" he's been down this same path. -
Use Anit-seize on the plug threads.

adjustable timing plate /w stroker 4mil
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to thomas h.'s topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
115? Sounds like you might want to be listening for a re-build. Advancing the timing on that motor is like putting high dollar spark plugs in a 200,000 mile motor and hoping it will be faster. Freshen that thing up and it will come alive! While your at it.....if you don't have money to port it, put the Vito's Super Stock pistons in it and you'll see big results for under $200.
