If you reach your 550hp goal, 4.88s will be just right. I ran 44 uncut boggers with 410s and 600hp, and that was in a full size truck. I ran a beefed up 44 in the front with a 205 in the middle and a 14 bolt factory posi out back. If all your going to do is mud race, research the beefed up 44. It saves you quite a bit of weight and not to mention ground clearance. Plus it will only be $600 fully built as opposed to $1k for a stock 60. Cool project man!!

I have ran both and obviously the billet one is better built. But if you take the time to silicone a plastic one in, i think it would be fine.

If you ride with the possibility of mud and water, don't run pods. I switched from a K&N with the box and no lid to K&N pods with outerwears and I didn't notice any difference at all.

I was able to rethread mine as well, thats been two years and no problems yet.

If he is the original owner, they will measure to see how far out of round it is. If its to much, they will replace it. If its within spec, they will straighten it. They say that it will be as strong as new if they have to straighten it. This is true for the eliminator anyway.
