  1. According to Noss Machine's website, stock compression at 4000' is estimated to be 106. Your probably close to where you should be on compression.
  2. An '86? :confused:I think the first model year was '87.
  3. I don't know the Yamaha part #, but Rockymountainatv has a nice Cascade kit for $12.99. Search under kickstart rebuild kit and it brings it up.
  4. Man.... what a waste. That was a LOT of beer!
  5. Hey,...... I have a stock Raptor and I'm not like that at all! lol Actually I must admit, I like my Raptor alot. I got it with the intentions of keeping it stock. Very comfortable ride and quite powerful out of the box. I got the GYTR edition for the suspension on it. Powerwise it's comparable to a YFZ, just the power comes on much differently between the two. The YFZ revs fast and comes on all at once, while the Raptor has broad, smooth power with lots of torque. They are both great machines.
  6. Thanks guys! Yeah I'm looking to get some porting done soon and I'm thinking about having the cylinders polished when I take them off for that.
  7. Thanks alot man! I'm about to head out there and install it then. Installed the stator cover last night, man that thing really sets it off.
  8. My nephew has a 2001 Kawasaki KX 250 he is looking to trade for a Banshee. It is stock. He recently acquired it through a trade and would prefer a four-wheeler over it. I rode it last weekend and it runs good, LOTS of power. Anybody interested in it pm me and I'll give all the details I know about it and give you his e-mail or phone # for contact. (It is titled and stickered.)
  9. Well guys, they came in today! I am very happy with them. Fixing to put them on but have one question regarding the clutch side insert plate. Do I need to drain the oil beforehand, I have never removed it before. And I hope everyone gets what they're wishing for over the holidays.
  10. I heard it prevents that from happening..... that's why I started using it. Man I hope it doesn't plug my carbs
  11. The guy was actually wanting the bike AND 300 bucks to start with, I didn't know about the extra money he wanted till we were headed down there. Your right, after the compression results 3 to 5 hundred would have been a good offer.
  12. WHAT?!? Your scaring me with that statement..... I just started using it. :ermm:
  13. That's along the lines I was thinking. The guy didn't have much knowledge of it and kept talking about the Blaster he used to have. For all I know he may have run straight gas in it or low octane fuel. After we saw the engine needed work we didn't stick around. My nephews KX runs awesome and he didn't really want to trade for a machine with a blown engine.
  14. We went down there today, tried unsuccesfully to start it. The guy started tinkering with the carbs with a screwdriver saying that all it needed was adjusting to run. At that point I went to the truck and got the compression tester...... 48 left cylinder, 140 on the right. No deal Apparently needs a new top-end and who knows what else. I sure am glad we took the tester down there, he had originally told my nephew that it ran good. At the last minute changed it to "well it was running fine when I parked it but now I can't get it started, I think the carbs just need adjusting". Thanks for the replys though, guys. I wish it had only been the gas or carbs.
  15. I appreciate it, Stroker. I'll know what comp numbers to look for now. Thanks for the help man.
  16. Thanks guys, that's probably what it is. We'll ride down tomorrow and check her out. I was also thinking the same thing about the starting fluid, I told my nephew that it wasn't too good for that guy to be using that on it. Taking my compression tester too, what kind of compression should be good for sea level and 19cc domes, around 180? I was kind of scared the guy may have been running pump gas also, haven't talked to him yet but I'll see tomorrow.
  17. Whats up guys, had a question regarding a possible trade my nephew is working on. He's in the market for a Banshee and has found a guy online wanting to trade a Shee for his KX 250. The Banshee has Toomey t5's and a coolhead with 19cc domes. The problem is the guy says it has been in storage for awhile and it was running good when it went in, but he just went to start it and couldn't get it running without using starting fluid. The guy lives about 3 hrs away from my nephew. I'm thinking about riding down there with him tomorrow to check it out and bringing my compression tester and a couple new sparkplugs. My question is does anybody know what might be wrong with it that it won't kickstart without starting fluid? My first guess would be the carbs are gummed up, but not sure. Anybody know of anything else to look out for with it?
  18. Nice, man. Looks like it's in great shape, too. The '06 SE models are sweet!
  19. Yes I wasn't meaning it should cost that much, I was saying 1600 IS alot of money! If I had sixteen hundred dollars to spend on mods I'd only use around five hundred of it on a swinger and spread the rest around in other areas. It is a nice swinger, though.
  20. Actually it says it costs $1595! It's a Laeger +4 round housing swinger. It is chrome. That is alot of money!
  21. Yeah I saw that issue at the store the other day and bought one. It's nice to see a Banshee on the front cover of a mag for a change.... don't see that too often anymore.
  22. Christmas is coming early this year, guys. My wife just ordered a Modquad billet stator cover (the one with flames over the sprocket area), and a billet insert plate for the clutch cover for my presents! I've been wanting one of those for about 2 years now. She has really made my Christmas, I tell ya! Anybody else here looking to find some Banshee goodies under the tree this year?
  23. That's an awesome deal on that, I think you should get it. My nephew recently bought an '08 and that thing rips!
