did you get a different shock to replace the one you thought was bad or what?
-
cool let me know how it goes for you. it's pretty simple once you look at it and start taking out a couple of bolts.
-
Only if you sleep in till noon. I got a wedding saturday son, I'm not driving back to RS drunk early in the morning lol. I'll probably get out of Laramie around 8 or 9, stop at my place for a shit/shower/shave and then head out for the afternoon and monday.
-
Took me about 10 minutes. I would throw some blue loctite back on the bolts to just to be safe they stay on
-
yeah and take the bolt out that holds the linkage (that the bottom of the shock bolts into) to the swingarm so that it will drop out of the way.
-
set your bike up on a stand on the frame so the swingarm is hanging. Take out the bolt that holds the dogbone linkage to the swingarm. Take out the bottom bolt for the shock. Take out the top bolt for the shock. I just swapped mine out yesterday. Go in reverse to put it back together.

Well with my fat ass I could pull 4th if I started back by the chutes and it would pull strong the whole way. Otherwise I was pulling it in 3rd most of the time, starting from the bottom of the hill showing up the 4-pokes that were getting runs at it and still not making it.

Yeah well sand mountain is 5 hours and seminoe is less than 2. Gas is 3.60 a gallon and I'm a tightass. Plus Utah and I have a love/hate relationship. And there is a lake to cool my fatass off. I've been trying to get this winter fat off for about 20 years now. EDIT: And I can bring a fishing pole. Thats right people, I can still fish.

LOL yeah that works for me. Ask Jared what happens before I do my dumbest moves. I sit at the bottom of the hill. Don't say much to anybody. Kinda pick out a line that usually changes, and then go without warning. I tend to think about it too much then puss out. Jared will stop and talk to somebody and I'll just be like "nice to meet you, I'm going to go ride around some more and try to hurt myself" We'll get along fine

I forgot to say this too. Told you I'm in a mood to talk tonight. If you want to know how I break in a new motor, it's a few heat cycles. Check your jetting. Beat the piss out of it. The first time I put my cub together the only reason I blew the head off (yes I blew the head off) was because I was in a hurry and didn't fix a potential problem I saw. After I swapped studs and put it back together 2 hours later I rode it like I stole it and haven't looked back. Unless you lean out, have bearing issues, get bad gas or something like that down the road most of your problems are going to become evident immediately, whether you ride hard or not. Thats just how my rebuilds have been. If you did it right you should have no problems. Any updates on the video you were making?

Well first I was told to walden, then sand mountain, then KP, then walden, and now back to KP. I have a wedding in Laramie on Saturday, gotta be there Friday night too for rehearsal dinner. Then I took off Sunday and Monday to go ride and now it looks like I'll just head back to Rock Springs Sunday morning and ride out here. I only wanted to go to Walden if the water was running and digging out deadmans, the beach, etc. Now I'm half tempted to go to Seminoe but I'll probably save that for a little later in the summer. So after an hour of reading here is my answer: KP. Don't worry, once you meet me in person I'm a pretty quiet guy and you won't have to listen to me talk all day.
-
Man you got me all pumped to go to Seminoe now! I think you said on DR that you just have mild porting done right? I think you would be OK pinning that baby and going with your stock petcock and carbs then. I was running stock carbs/petcock on a stock stroke cub when I ran dry. But it got me good enough that now with my dual pingel and 34 mm carbs I'll thumb it. Of course the instant power when you keep it on the pipe helps out too, lol.
-
There are 3 main reasons I would say screw walden after that short vid. 1. Seminoe is closer for me 2. The climbs look a lot longer 3. The lack of trees means I can get stupid, shoot off the side of a trail by accident, and still recover rather than pile into trees. I did that once last year at walden and have the scars to prove it lol. Plus you got a lake to go swimming in. If you can see the punk ass arrow I put on this picture that is where I ran my bowls dry on sand mountain. I was not amused.
-
Ok its official. Fuck walden ever again. I'm now going to seminoe instead. I would even say screw KP but I live 30 minutes away lol. Cool vid man I need to get out there and wreck my banshee.....errrrr....I mean climb some hills and make new trails with my banshee.

There's nothing wrong with pinning it and going I've just had the experience of running the bowls dry before. I'll still pin it for a while but then I'll start thumbing it if I can just to make sure. When you run dry and lose power immediately on a steep hill it will scare the shiot out of you. Happened to me climbing in the fingers on the face side of sand mountain in Utah. I think I threw those shorts away. I haven't done it since and I didn't kill my motor but coming to a stop without being able to dig in, turn around, or really do much of anything kind of got to me. Good thing I weigh 230 so I had enough weight to get a hold of my bike from topside and spin it around for a ride down the hill. JMO and apparently I'm in a mood to talk tonight.

No I haven't ever made it to Seminoe yet, just heard a lot about it. But judging by those pics I think I just found my new favorite place! Sometimes it can be a trick to whip it around if you don't have much room but I like it better than digging it in and sitting there wondering if your going to tip backwards the next time you take a breath. I guess I'm used to doing it on more open areas though too so turning around is a pretty good option then.
-
Did you take any pictures????? You may run your bowls dry. The way I would do it (even with my pingel, larger carbs, and cub) would be thumb it the whole way and never stay wide open for a long period of time. If you slow down too much just whip it around and go back if you can. Jon

Run it. You should see the left piston in my motor right now. And that aluminum that flew up on the domes just fixed any pits and scratches you had in them. I'd say your carb did you a favor. LOL
-
I just did some tuning today and I have 320's in right now. It's a little rich yet but I think I've got it close. Lots better than at first when I pulled my plugs and they were bright white yet.

What do Michael Jackson and K-mart have in common? Little boys pants are always half off.

 Thanks Lee! Great site

I went from stock carbs with 330 main jets in them to Mikuni TM 34 flatslides bored out to 35.5 mm. If all my mods stay the same and only switch the carbs, do my main jet sizes need to go up, down, or stay the same? I know just do a chop but I was trying to today and the wind was so bad at the damned dunes I couldn't do any jetting, too much sand blowing in everything.
-
Ok I found a tape measure. I come up with 14.5" from center to center of the eyes If you go longer its going to fit wrong, mess up the geometry, be really tight and stiff. Maybe somebody who knows more can chime in.
-
If I could find my damned tape measure I could. I have a set just lying in the garage but nothing to measure with.
