I've been educating myself on the subject, he goes to doc today for clearance . As of now he wants to continue , he will be on a short leash for sure. I was really suprised how common it is for his age after seeing a specialist.
if your not in a rush , send it to me if its tight enouph for a heli coil to work that's what I'll do, if not we gotta order the setts but it's hard to say without gushing the hole
Let's put it this way , send to whoever you like just make they drill it square and countersink the sert enouph , have them check the cylinders deck for flatness
I've seen tons of cranks brand new outta spec, every idiot with a tig slams a weld on there with bearing on and pulls it outta true, pay attention to where hot rods welds there cranks , thee on to something over there
Hjr ex ports are real conservative, the way I shape my ports to achieve the correct time/area for blowdown looks totally diffrent then his . I also shape the port bottom to push the ring back in and chamfer and blend more than I've ever seen. You know if it wasn't blended if there's drag marks around the ports
I have the ability to do it, but once a repair has been done with a heli-coil you need something called a big cert ,I no longer have these if you wanted to purchase the big cert kit I would do repair for you. No one will have these in stock. They didn't come with my time sert master kit
I don't know if either of u have ever tigged alumn. I have , I see zero possibilities of getting a tig to fill it and it be a solid repair, then machine it to fix surface and other cylinder to match, adjust domes,. Find a shop that can timecert it
Those cylinders look terrible for month old engine maybe pics but I would have someone measure those Pistons and make sure skirts arnt collapsed if you have questions how to do it pm me for cell
